1 니네베에 대한 엄중한 부담이라. 엘코스족 나훔의 현시의 책이라.
1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 하나님께서는 질투하시며, 주께서는 보복하시는도다. 주께서는 보복하시며 격하게 분노하시는도다. 주께서는 그분의 대적들에게 복수하실 것이요, 그분께서 자신의 원수들에게 진노를 간직하시는도다.
2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
3 주께서는 분노를 늦추시고 권능에 있어서 위대하시며 사악한 자에게 일절 무죄를 선고하지 아니하시리라. 주께서는 회오리바람과 폭풍 가운데서도 자신의 길이 있으시니, 구름들은 그분의 두 발의 티끌이라.
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 그분이 바다를 꾸짖어 그것을 말려 버리시며, 모든 강들을 말려 버리시노라. 바샨이 시들거리고, 칼멜과, 레바논의 꽃이 시들거리는도다.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
5 산들이 그분 앞에서 진동하고 언덕들이 녹아내리며 땅이 그분의 면전에서 불타는도다. 진정 세상과 그 안에 거하는 모든 것이 그러하도다.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
6 누가 그분의 격분 앞에 설 수 있겠느냐? 그리하여 누가 그분의 분노의 맹렬함 가운데 거할 수 있겠느냐? 그분의 노여움이 불처럼 쏟아 부어졌으니, 바위들이 그분으로 말미암아 무너져 내리는도다.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 주께서는 선하시며, 곤경의 날에 강한 요새시로다. 그리고 그분께서는 그분을 신뢰하는 자들을 아시는도다.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 그러나 그분께서 범람하는 홍수로 그곳의 처소를 완전히 끝내시리니, 어둠이 그의 원수들을 추격하리라.
8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
9 너희가 주를 대적하여 무엇을 구상하느냐? 그분께서 완전한 종결을 지으시리니, 고난은 두 번 일어나지 아니하리라.
9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10 이는 그들이 가시나무들같이 함께 뒤엉켜 있는 동안, 또 그들이 술주정뱅이들같이 취해 있는 동안 그들은 완전히 마른 그루터기같이 집어삼켜질 것이기 때문이라.
10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
11 주를 대적하여 악을 구상하는 한 사람이 너에게서 나오나니, 곧 사악한 전략가로다.
11 There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
12 주가 이같이 말하노라. 비록 그들이 평온하고 또 다수일지라도, 여전히 그가 통과할 때는 그들이 이와 같이 절단되어 쓰러지리라. 내가 너를 괴롭혔을지라도, 내가 더 이상 너를 괴롭히지 아니하겠노라.
12 Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 이는 이제 내가 너에게서 그의 멍에를 꺾을 것이요, 너를 묶은 결박들을 산산이 터뜨릴 것이기 때문이라.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 그리고 주가 너에 관하여 명령을 주었으니, 곧 너의 이름은 더 이상 전파되지 말라는 것이라. 너의 신들의 집에서 내가 새겨진 형상과 주조된 형상을 끊어 버리겠노라. 내가 너의 무덤을 만들겠노라. 이는 네가 비열하기 때문이라.
14 And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.
15 좋은 소식들을 가져오고, 화평을 공표하는 자의 두 발이 산들 위에 있는 것을 보라! 오, 유다야, 너의 엄숙한 명절들을 지키고 너의 서원들을 수행하라. 이는 그 사악한 자가 더 이상 너를 통과하지 못할 것이기 때문이라. 그가 완전히 끊어졌도다.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
