1 그러므로 내가 하나님 앞에서와 주 예수 그리스도, 곧 그분이 나타나실 때 그리고 그분의 왕국에서 살아 있는 자들과 죽어 있는 자들을 심판하실 분 앞에서 너에게 명하노라.
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 말씀을 선포하라. 시기에 맞든지 시기에 맞지 아니하든지 절박하게 하라. 모든 오래 참음과 교리로 책망하고 꾸짖으며 권면하라.
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 이는 그때가 올 것이기 때문이니, 그들이 건전한 교리를 견디지 못할 때라. 반면에 그들은 귀가 가려워서 자신들의 정욕들에 따라 자신들에게 선생들을 쌓아 두리라.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 그리고 그들은 자신들의 귀를 진리로부터 돌이킬 것이며 지어낸 이야기들로 돌리리라.
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 그러나 너는 모든 것들에 깨어 있고 고난들을 견디며 복음 전도자의 일을 하고 너의 사역을 충분히 입증하라.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 이는 내가 이제 제물로 드려질 준비가 되어 있으며 나의 떠날 때가 가깝기 때문이라.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 내가 훌륭한 싸움을 싸웠고, 내가 나의 달려갈 길을 마쳤으며, 내가 믿음을 지켰노라.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 이후로는 나를 위하여 의의 왕관이 마련되어 있으니, 의로운 심판자이신 주께서 그것을 그날에 나에게 주실 것이라. 그리고 나에게만이 아니라 그분의 나타나심을 사랑하는 모든 자들에게도 주실 것이라.
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9 너는 속히 나에게 오도록 힘쓰라.
9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10 이는 데마가 이 현 세상을 사랑하여 나를 저버리고 데살로니가로 떠났기 때문이라. 크레스켄스는 갈라디아로 갔고, 디도는 달마티아로 갔느니라.
10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11 오직 누가만 나와 함께 있느니라. 마가를 데리고 그를 너와 함께 오게 하라. 이는 그가 사역을 위하여 나에게 유익한 자이기 때문이라.
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 그리고 투키쿠스는 내가 에베소로 보냈느니라.
12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 네가 올 때면 내가 트로아스에서 카르푸스에게 남겨 둔 망토를 네가 챙겨서 가져오라. 그리고 책들을 가져오되 특히 양피지들로 된 것들을 가져오라.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 구리 세공사 알렉산더가 나에게 큰 악을 행하였느니라. 주께서 그의 행위들에 따라 그에게 보응하시기를 바라노라.
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 너 또한 그를 경계하라. 이는 그가 우리의 말들에 심하게 대항하였기 때문이라.
15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 나의 첫 답변 때는 아무도 나와 함께 서지 않았고 오히려 모든 사람들이 나를 저버렸노라. 나는 그것이 그들의 책임이 되지 않기를 하나님께 기도하노라.
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 그래도 주께서 나와 함께 서시어 내게 힘을 주셨느니라. 이는 나를 통하여 말씀 선포가 온전히 알려져서 모든 이방인들이 들을 수 있게 하려 함이라. 또한 내가 사자의 입에서 구출되었느니라.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 그런즉 주께서 나를 모든 악한 일에서 저마다 구출하시리니, 그분께 속하고 하늘에 있는 왕국에 이르기까지 나를 보존하시리라. 그분께 영광이 영원무궁토록 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 프리스카와 아퀼라와 오네시포루스의 집안에 문안하라.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 에라스투스는 고린도에 거하였으나 트로피무스는 아파서 내가 밀레툼에 남겨 두었느니라.
20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
21 너는 겨울이 되기 전에 오도록 힘쓰라. 유불루스와 푸덴스와 리누스와 클라우디아와 모든 형제들이 너에게 인사하느니라.
21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 주 예수 그리스도께서 너의 영과 함께하시기를 기원하노라. 은혜가 너희와 함께 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.
22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
23 ¶ 에베소인들의 교회의 첫 번째 감독으로 임명된 디모데우스에게 보내는 두 번째 서신이 바울이 네로 앞에 두 번째 불려 갔을 때 로마에서 기록되었다.
23 ¶ The second epistle unto Timotheus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.
