1 형제들아, 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 오심에 의하여, 또 우리가 그분께로 함께 모이는 일에 의하여 이제 우리가 너희에게 간청하노니,
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 영으로든 말로써든 우리에게서 온 것처럼 보이는 편지에 의해서든 그리스도의 날이 가깝다고 하여 너희가 금방 생각으로 동요하거나 불안해하지 말라는 것이라.
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 아무도 어떤 방식으로든 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 이는 먼저 떨어져 나가는 일이 오지 않으면 그날이 오지 않을 것이요, 그러고 나서 그 죄의 사람, 곧 파멸의 아들이 드러나지 않으면 그날이 오지 않을 것이기 때문이라.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 그는 대적하는 자요, 하나님이라고 불리거나 경배를 받는 모든 것 위로 자기 자신을 크게 높이는 자니라. 그렇게 하여 그가 하나님처럼 하나님의 성전 안에 앉아 자신이 하나님이라고 스스로를 내보이느니라.
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 내가 아직 너희와 함께 있었을 때 내가 이런 것들을 너희에게 알려준 것을 너희는 기억하지 아니하느냐?
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 그리고 그가 그의 때에 나타나 보이기 위해 억누르고 있는 것이 무엇인지 너희가 이제 아느니라.
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 이는 죄악의 신비가 이미 활동하고 있기 때문이니, 오직 지금 막고 있는 자가 막을 것이나 그가 그 길에서 옮겨질 때까지 막을 것이라.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 그리고 그 후에 그 악한 자가 나타나 보일 것이니, 주께서 그분의 입에서 나오는 영으로 그를 진멸시키실 것이요, 그분의 오심의 찬란함으로 멸하시리라.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 바로 그를 멸하시리니, 곧 그의 오는 것은 사탄의 역사에 따른 것으로 모든 권능과 표적들과 거짓 이적들을 동반하며,
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 또한 멸망하는 자들 안에 있는 모든 불의의 속임수를 동반하리라. 이는 그들이 구원받도록 하기 위한 진리의 사랑을 받아들이지 않았기 때문이라.
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 그런즉 이런 까닭에 하나님께서 그들에게 강한 미혹을 보내시리니, 그들로 하여금 거짓말을 믿게 하려 하심이요,
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 진리를 믿지 않고 오히려 불의 안에서 쾌락을 누린 그들 모두로 하여금 영벌의 심판을 받게 하려 하심이라.
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 그러나 주께 사랑받는 형제들아, 우리는 너희를 위하여 하나님께 늘 감사들을 드리지 않을 수 없느니라. 이는 시작부터 하나님께서 성령의 성결하게 하심과 진리에 대한 믿음을 통하여 너희를 선택하사 구원에 이르게 하셨기 때문이라.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 그분께서 우리의 복음을 통하여 너희를 그 구원에 이르도록 부르셨으니, 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 영광을 획득하는 데 이르게 하셨느니라.
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 그러므로 형제들아, 굳게 서라. 그리고 말로든지 우리의 서신으로든지 너희가 가르침을 받아 온 전통들을 붙들라.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 이제 우리 주 예수 그리스도 그분 자신과 우리를 사랑하시고 우리에게 영원한 위안과 은혜를 통한 선한 소망을 주신 하나님, 곧 우리 아버지께서
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 너희의 마음을 위로하시고, 너희를 모든 선한 말과 행위마다 확고하게 세우시기를 기원하노라.
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
