1 주 하나님께서 나에게 이와 같이 보여주셨더라. 그런즉 여름 과일이 있는 바구니를 보니라.
1 Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.
2 그러자 그분께서 말씀하시기를 “아모스야, 너는 무엇을 보고 있느냐?” 하시기에 내가 말씀드리기를, “여름 과일이 있는 바구니이니이다.” 하였더라. 그때 주께서 나에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “나의 백성 이스라엘 위에 끝이 왔도다. 내가 이제부터 그들 곁을 다시 지나가지 아니하겠노라.
2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.
3 그런즉 그날에 성전의 노래들은 울부짖음들이 되리라. 주 하나님이 말하노라. 모든 처소마다 많은 시신들이 있으리라. 그들은 묵묵히 그것들을 내다 버리리라.
3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.
4 ¶ 오, 빈곤한 자를 삼켜 버리고 심지어 가난한 자들을 그 지역에서 망하게 하는 너희여, 이것을 들으라.
4 ¶ Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,
5 너희는 이같이 말하는도다. ‘새 달이 언제 지나가서 우리가 곡식을 팔 수 있을까? 또 안식의 때가 언제 지나가서 우리가 에파를 줄이고 셰켈을 키우며 저울들을 속임수로 조작하면서 밀을 내놓을 수 있을까?
5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?
6 안식의 때가 언제 지나가서 우리가 은으로 가난한 자들을 사고 한 켤레의 신발로 빈곤한 자를 살 수 있으며, 진정 밀 찌꺼기를 팔 수 있을까?’
6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
7 주가 야곱의 탁월함을 두고 맹세하였노라. 확실히 그들의 행위들 중에서 어느 것도 내가 결단코 잊지 아니하겠노라.
7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.
8 이것으로 인하여 그 지역이 떨지 아니하겠으며, 그 안에 거하는 모든 이마다 애곡하지 아니하겠느냐? 그리하여 그것은 홍수같이 전부 올라올 것이요, 그것은 이집트의 홍수에 의한 것같이 내던져져서 수장되리라.
8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.
9 그리고 주 하나님이 말하노라. 그날에 이러한 일이 있으리니, 내가 정오에 해를 내려가게 하겠으며, 내가 청명한 날에 땅을 어둡게 하겠노라.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:
10 그리하여 내가 너희의 명절들을 애곡으로, 너희의 모든 노래들을 애가로 바꾸리라. 그리고 내가 모든 허리들 위에 굵은 베를 가져올 것이요, 모든 머리마다 대머리를 가져오리라. 그런즉 내가 그것을 독자로 인한 애곡같이 만들겠고, 그것의 끝을 쓰라린 날같이 만들겠노라.
10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11 ¶ 보라, 그날들이 오나니, 주 하나님이 말하노라. 곧, 내가 그 지역에 기근을 보내겠으니, 빵의 기근도 아니요, 물의 고갈도 아니요, 오직 주의 말씀들을 듣지 못하는 기근이라.
11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12 그런즉 그들이 바다에서 바다까지, 북쪽에서 동쪽에 이르기까지 떠돌아다닐 것이요, 그들이 주의 말씀을 찾아서 이리저리 달릴 것이나 그것을 발견하지 못하리라.
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13 그날에는 수려한 처녀들과 청년들이 목마름으로 인하여 탈진하리라.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14 사마리아의 죄를 두고 맹세하기를, ‘오, 단아, 너의 신이 살아 있도다.’ 말하고 ‘베르셰바의 풍습이 살아 있도다.’ 하는 자들, 바로 그들은 쓰러져서 결코 다시는 일어나지 못하리라.”
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
