1 그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 자유롭게 하신 그 자유 안에서 굳건히 서고 다시는 속박의 멍에에 얽매이지 말라.
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 보라, 나 바울이 너희에게 말하노니, 만일 너희가 할례를 받으면 그리스도께서 너희에게 아무런 유익을 주지 못하시리라.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 이는 내가 할례를 받은 각인에게 다시 증언하기 때문이니, 그는 율법 전체를 행해야 하는 의무를 가진 자로다.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 너희 중 율법으로 정당함을 입증받은 자는 누구든지 그리스도께서 너희에게 전혀 효력이 없게 되나니, 너희는 은혜로부터 떨어지느니라.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 이는 우리가 성령을 통하여 믿음으로 의의 소망을 기다리기 때문이라.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 이는 예수 그리스도 안에는 할례든 무할례든 어떤 것도 효력이 없으며 오직 사랑으로 역사하는 믿음뿐이기 때문이라.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 너희가 잘 달렸는데 누가 너희를 가로막아 너희가 진리에 순종하지 못하게 하였느냐?
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 이런 권유는 너희를 부르시는 그분께로부터 나오는 것이 아니니라.
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
9 적은 누룩이 온 덩어리를 부풀게 하느니라.
9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
10 내가 주를 통하여 너희에 대해 확신하노니, 곧 너희가 조금도 다른 생각을 갖게 되지 아니하리라는 것이라. 그러나 너희를 교란시키는 자는 그가 누가 되었든지 간에 자신의 심판을 감당해야 하리라.
10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
11 그리고 형제들아, 만일 나, 곧 내가 여전히 할례를 선포한다면 어찌하여 내가 아직도 박해를 받겠느냐? 그렇게 했다면 십자가로 인하여 실족하게 하는 일이 그쳤으리라.
11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
12 나는 너희를 교란시키는 자들이 심지어 끊어져 버리기를 바라노라.
12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
13 이는 형제들아, 너희가 자유에 이르도록 부르심을 받았기 때문이라. 다만 자유를 육신을 위한 계기로 사용하지 말고 오직 사랑으로 서로 섬기라.
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 이는 율법 전체가 한 말씀 안에서 성취되기 때문이니, 바로 이것 안에서라. “너는 너의 이웃을 너 자신과 같이 사랑할지니라.”
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 그러나 만일 너희가 서로 물어뜯고 삼킨다면 너희가 서로에게 파멸되지 아니하도록 주의하라.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16 그런즉 내가 이것을 말하노니, 성령 안에서 살아가라. 그리하면 너희가 육신의 정욕을 이루지 아니하리라.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 이는 육신이 성령을 대적하여 정욕을 품으며 성령은 육신을 대적하기 때문이라. 그런즉 이들이 서로 반대하여 너희로 하여금 너희가 하려는 것들을 행할 수 없게 하느니라.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 그러나 만일 너희가 성령의 인도하심을 받는다면 너희는 율법 아래에 있는 것이 아니니라.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 이제 육신의 행위들이 명백하게 드러나니, 이것들이라. 곧, 간음과 음행과 불결함과 음탕함과
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 우상 숭배와 마술과 증오와 적대와 경쟁들과 격노와 분쟁과 폭동들과 이단들과
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 시기들과 살인들과 술 취함과 유흥들과 그와 같은 것들이라. 이와 같은 것들에 대해서는 과거에 내가 너희에게 말한 것같이 내가 미리 너희에게 알려 주노니 그러한 것들을 행하는 자들은 하나님의 왕국을 상속받지 못하리라.
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 그러나 성령의 열매는 사랑과 기쁨과 화평과 오래 참음과 온화함과 선함과 믿음과
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 온유와 절제라. 이와 같은 것들을 대적하는 법이 전혀 없느니라.
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 그런즉 그리스도께 속한 자들은 그 육신과 함께 욕정들과 욕망들을 십자가에 못 박았느니라.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 만일 우리가 성령 안에서 살아 있다면, 또한 우리가 성령 안에서 살아가자.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 우리가 서로 격분하게 하고 서로 시기하면서, 헛된 영광을 열망하지 말자.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
