1 이후에 이스라엘 자녀들이 주의 목전에서 다시 악을 행하였더라. 그런즉 주께서 그들을 필리스티아인들의 손안에 사십 년 동안 넘기셨더라.
1 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
2 ¶ 그리고 단족들의 족속에 속하였고 조라 출신의 어떤 남자 한 명이 있었는데, 그의 이름은 마노아였더라. 그리고 그의 아내는 불임이었으니, 자식을 낳지 못하였더라.
2 ¶ And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.
3 이후에 주의 천사가 그 여자에게 나타나서 그녀에게 이같이 말하였더라. “보라, 지금 너는 불임이며 자식을 낳지 못하는도다. 그러나 네가 임신할 것이요, 한 아들을 낳으리라.
3 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
4 그러므로 내가 너에게 부탁하노니, 이제 주의하여 포도주도, 독주도 마시지 말고 어떤 불결한 것도 먹지 말라.
4 Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
5 이는 보라, 네가 임신하여 한 아들을 낳을 것이기 때문이라. 그리고 면도칼이 그의 머리에 전혀 닿지 않도록 할지니라. 이는 그 아이가 태에서부터 하나님께 나실인이 될 것이기 때문이라. 그리하여 그가 필리스티아인들의 손에서 이스라엘을 구출하기 시작하리라.”
5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
6 ¶ 그때 그 여자가 와서 그녀의 남편에게 알리며 이같이 말하였더라. “하나님의 사람이 제게 왔는데 그의 용모가 마치 하나님의 천사의 용모와 같았으며 몹시 공포스러웠나이다. 그러나 저는 그가 어디 출신인지 그에게 묻지 않았고 그도 저에게 그의 이름을 알려 주지 아니하였나이다.
6 ¶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
7 그러나 그가 제게 말하기를, ‘보라, 너는 임신하여 한 아들을 낳으리라. 그런즉 이제 포도주도, 독주도 전혀 마시지 말며, 어떤 불결한 것도 먹지 말라. 이는 아이가 태에서부터 그가 죽는 날까지 하나님께 나실인이 될 것이기 때문이라.’ 하였나이다.”
7 But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
8 ¶ 그때 마노아가 주께 간절히 요청하여 말씀드리기를, “오, 나의 주여, 당신께서 보내신 하나님의 사람이 저희에게 다시 오게 하여 주소서. 그리하여 태어날 아이에게 저희가 무엇을 해야 할지 저희에게 가르쳐 주소서.” 하였더라.
8 ¶ Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
9 그러자 하나님께서 마노아의 음성에 경청하셨더라. 그런즉 그 여자가 밭에 앉아 있을 때 하나님의 천사가 그녀에게 다시 왔더라. 그러나 그녀의 남편인 마노아는 그녀와 함께 있지 아니하였더라.
9 And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
10 그런즉 그 여자가 서둘러 달려가서 그녀의 남편에게 알리며 그에게 말하기를, “보소서, 다른 날에 제게 왔던 그 남자가 제게 나타났나이다.” 하였더라.
10 And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.
11 그러자 마노아가 일어나 그의 아내를 따라가서 그 남자에게 이르러 그에게 말하기를, “당신께서 이 여자에게 이야기하신 남자분이시니이까?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 말하기를, “그가 나니라.” 하였더라.
11 And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.
12 그러자 마노아가 말하기를, “이제 당신의 말씀들이 이루어지게 하소서. 저희가 이 아이에게 어떻게 지시하리이까? 또 저희가 그에게 어떻게 행하리이까?” 하였더라.
12 And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?
13 이에 주의 천사가 마노아에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 그 여자에게 말한 모든 것에 관하여 그녀로 하여금 주의하게 하라.
13 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
14 그녀는 포도나무에서 나는 어떤 것도 먹어서는 아니되나니, 또한 그녀로 하여금 포도주나 독주를 마시지 못하게 하고, 어떤 불결한 것도 먹지 못하게 하라. 내가 그녀에게 명령한 모든 것을 그녀로 하여금 준수하게 하라.”
14 She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
15 ¶ 그러자 마노아가 주의 천사에게 말하기를, “제가 당신께 간구하오니, 저희가 당신을 위하여 새끼 염소 한 마리를 준비할 때까지 저희가 당신을 붙드는 것을 허락하소서.” 하였더라.
15 ¶ And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
16 그러자 주의 천사가 마노아에게 말하기를, “네가 나를 붙들지라도, 나는 너의 빵을 먹지 아니하겠노라. 그리고 만일 네가 번제물을 바치려 한다면 너는 반드시 그것을 주께 바쳐야만 하느니라.” 하였더라. 이는 그가 주의 천사인 것을 마노아가 몰랐기 때문이라.
16 And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
17 그런즉 마노아가 주의 천사에게 말하기를, “당신의 이름이 무엇이니이까? 이는 당신이 하신 말씀들이 이루어질 때 저희가 당신을 공경하려 함이니이다.” 하였더라.
17 And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
18 그러자 주의 천사가 그에게 말하기를, “그것이 비밀인 것을 알면서 어찌하여 네가 나의 이름을 이같이 묻느냐?” 하였더라.
18 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?
19 그렇게 하여 마노아가 새끼 염소 한 마리를 음식 제물과 함께 취하여 그것을 반석 위에서 주께 바쳤더라. 그러자 그 천사가 경이롭게 행하였더라. 이에 마노아와 그의 아내가 그것을 바라보았더라.
19 So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20 이는 불꽃이 제단을 떠나 하늘을 향하여 치솟았을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 주의 천사가 제단의 불꽃 속에서 승천하였기 때문이라. 그러자 마노아와 그의 아내가 그것을 바라보고 그들의 얼굴을 땅바닥에 대고 엎드렸더라.
20 For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
21 그러나 주의 천사는 마노아와 그의 아내에게 더 이상 나타나지 아니하였더라. 그제야 마노아는 그가 주의 천사인 것을 알았더라.
21 But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
22 그리하여 마노아가 그의 아내에게 말하기를, “우리가 하나님을 보았으니, 우리는 반드시 죽으리라.” 하였더라.
22 And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23 그러나 그의 아내가 그에게 말하기를, “만일 주께서 우리를 죽이는 것을 기뻐하셨다면, 그분께서 우리의 손에서 번제물과 음식 제물을 받으려고 하지 아니하셨을 것이요, 그분께서 우리에게 이 모든 것들을 보이려고도 하지 아니하셨을 것이요, 이때에 우리에게 이와 같은 것들을 알리려고도 하지 아니하셨으리이다.” 하였더라.
23 But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
24 ¶ 이후에 그 여자가 한 아들을 낳았으니, 그의 이름을 삼손이라 불렀더라. 그런즉 그 아이가 자랐고 주께서 그에게 복을 주셨더라.
24 ¶ And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
25 그리고 주의 영이 조라와 에슈타올 사이에 있는 단 진영 안에서 때때로 그를 감동시키기 시작하셨더라.
25 And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
