1 그러나 이내 얼마 있다가 밀 수확의 시기일 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 삼손이 그의 아내에게 새끼 염소 한 마리를 가지고 방문하였더라. 그리고 그가 말하기를, “내가 침실 안으로 가서 나의 아내에게로 들어가겠나이다.” 하였더라. 그러나 그녀의 아버지가 그가 들어가는 것을 승낙하려 하지 아니하였더라.
1 But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
2 그러면서 그녀의 아버지가 말하기를, “나는 진실로 그대가 그녀를 아주 증오한 줄로 생각하였도다. 그러므로 내가 그녀를 그대의 벗에게 주었도다. 그녀의 여동생이 그녀보다 더 어여쁘지 아니하냐? 내가 그대에게 간구하노니, 그녀 대신에 그녀의 여동생을 취하라.” 하였더라.
2 And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
3 ¶ 그러자 삼손이 그들에 관하여 말하기를, “이제 내가 필리스티아인들에게 불쾌한 일을 행한다 할지라도 그들보다 흠이 덜하리라.” 하였더라.
3 ¶ And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
4 이에 삼손이 가서 삼백 마리의 여우들을 잡았고, 불 붙은 나뭇조각들을 취하여, 여우들을 꼬리에 꼬리가 닿도록 돌려서 불 붙은 나뭇조각 하나를 두 꼬리들 사이 한가운데에 끼웠더라.
4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
5 그런 다음에 그가 그 나뭇조각들에 불을 붙였을 때 그가 그것들을 필리스티아인들의 베지 않은 곡식 밭으로 들어가게 하였으니, 곡식 더미들과 베지 않은 곡식도 모두 포도원들과 올리브들과 함께 태워 버렸더라.
5 And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
6 ¶ 그때 필리스티아인들이 말하기를, “누가 이런 짓을 하였느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 대답하기를, “팀나족의 사위인 삼손이라. 이는 그의 장인이 그의 아내를 취하여 그의 벗에게 준 까닭이라.” 하였더라. 이에 필리스티아인들이 올라와서 그녀와 그녀의 아버지를 불로 태웠더라.
6 ¶ Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
7 ¶ 그러자 삼손이 그들에게 말하기를, “비록 너희가 이 일을 행하였을지라도 여전히 내가 너희들에게 복수가 이루어지게 하겠노라. 그러고 난 후에야 내가 그치리라.” 하였더라.
7 ¶ And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
8 그러면서 그는 아주 커다란 살육으로 사정없이 그들을 쳤더라. 그런 다음에 그가 내려가서 에탐 바위의 꼭대기에서 지냈더라.
8 And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
9 ¶ 그때 필리스티아인들이 올라가 유다에 진을 쳤으니, 자신들의 군세를 레히에 펼쳤더라.
9 ¶ Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
10 그러자 유다 사람들이 말하기를, “어찌하여 너희는 우리를 대적하여 올라왔느냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그들이 대답하기를, “삼손을 결박하기 위하여 우리가 올라왔으니, 그가 우리에게 행한 대로 그에게 행하고자 함이라.” 하였더라.
10 And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
11 그때 유다의 삼천 명의 사람들이 에탐 바위의 꼭대기로 가서 삼손에게 말하기를, “필리스티아인들이 우리를 다스리는 치리자들임을 너는 모르느냐? 네가 우리에게 행한 이 일이 무엇이냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 그들에게 말하기를, “그들이 나에게 행한 대로 나도 그렇게 그들에게 행하였도다.” 하였더라.
11 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
12 그러자 그들이 그에게 말하기를, “우리가 너를 필리스티아인들의 손안에 넘겨줄 수 있도록 우리가 너를 결박하러 내려왔노라.” 하였더라. 이에 삼손이 그들에게 말하기를, “너희가 직접 나를 덮치지 아니하겠다고 나에게 맹세하라.” 하였더라.
12 And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
13 그러자 그들이 그에게 일러 말하기를, “그렇게 하지 않겠노라. 오직 우리는 너를 단단히 결박하여 너를 그들의 손안에 넘기기만 하겠노라. 그러나 우리가 결단코 너를 죽이지 아니하겠노라.” 하였더라. 그러고 나서 그들이 두 개의 새 끈들로 그를 결박하였고 그를 바위로부터 데리고와서 올라갔더라.
13 And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
14 ¶ 그러자 그가 레히에 도착하였을 때 필리스티아인들이 그를 대적하여 함성을 질렀더라. 이에 주의 영이 그의 위에 막강하게 임하셨으니, 그의 두 팔에 있던 끈들이 마치 아마풀이 불에 태워지는 것같이 되었고, 그의 포박들이 그의 두 손에서 풀려 떨어졌더라.
14 ¶ And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
15 그리고 그는 나귀의 새 턱뼈를 발견하였으니, 자기 손을 내밀어 그것을 취하여 그것으로 일천 명의 사람들을 살해하였더라.
15 And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
16 그러면서 삼손이 말하기를, “나귀의 턱뼈로 무더기들 위에 무더기들을 쌓았으며, 나귀의 턱으로 내가 일천 명의 사람들을 살해하였도다.” 하였더라.
16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17 이후에 그가 이야기하는 것을 끝마쳤을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 자기 손에서 그 나귀의 턱뼈를 던져 버렸고 그 장소를 라맛레히라 불렀더라.
17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi.
18 ¶ 그러고 나서 그가 심히 목이 말랐기에 주를 불러 말씀드리기를, “당신께서 이 커다란 구출을 당신의 종의 손안에 주셨나이다. 그런데 이제 제가 목마름으로 인하여 죽어서 할례받지 않은 자들의 손안에 떨어져야 하리이까?” 하였더라.
18 ¶ And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19 그러나 하나님께서 그 턱뼈에 있던 우묵한 곳을 쪼개셨으니 거기서 물이 나왔더라. 그리하여 그가 물을 마시자 그의 영이 다시 돌아왔고 그가 활기를 되찾았더라. 이러한 이유로 그가 그곳의 이름을 엔학코레라 불렀으니, 엔학코레는 오늘날까지 레히 안에 있느니라.
19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
20 그런즉 그가 필리스티아인들의 날들에 이십 년 동안 이스라엘을 재판하였더라.
20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
