1 이제 이 달 이십사 일에 이스라엘 자녀들이 금식하며 굵은 베들을 입고 자신들 위에 흙을 뒤집어쓴 채 결집되었더라.
1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.
2 그리고 이스라엘의 씨가 모든 타국인들로부터 자신들을 분리하고 일어서서 자신들의 죄들과 그들의 조상들의 죄악들을 자백하였더라.
2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
3 그리고 그들이 그들의 위치에서 일어섰고 낮의 사분의 일 동안 주 그들의 하나님의 율법 책 안에 있는 것을 낭독하였더라. 그리고 또 다른 사분의 일 동안에는 그들이 자백하였으며 주 그들의 하나님을 경배하였더라.
3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.
4 ¶ 그때 레위인들 중 예슈아와 바니와 캇미엘과 셰바니야와 분니와 셰레비야와 바니와 크나니가 계단들에 올라서서 큰 목소리로 주 그들의 하나님께 부르짖었더라.
4 ¶ Then stood up upon the stairs, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani, and cried with a loud voice unto the LORD their God.
5 그때 레위인들인 예슈아와 캇미엘과 바니와 하샵니야와 셰레비야와 호디쟈와 셰바니야와 프다히야가 이같이 말하였더라. “일어서서 영원무궁토록 주 너희 하나님을 찬양하라. 그런즉 당신의 영광스러운 이름, 곧 모든 복과 찬송 위에 크게 높여지는 이름이 찬양받으시기를 바라나이다.
5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
6 당신께서, 바로 당신께서 홀로 주시요, 당신께서는 하늘, 곧 하늘들의 하늘을 그것들의 모든 군대와 함께 만드셨고, 땅과 그 안에 있는 만물과, 바다들과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만드셨으니, 당신께서 그것들을 모두 보존하시나이다. 그런즉 하늘의 군대가 당신께 경배하나이다.
6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
7 당신께서는 주 하나님이시오니, 아브람을 선택하시어 그를 칼데아 사람들의 우르에서 데리고 나오셨고 그에게 아브라함이란 이름을 주셨으며,
7 Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;
8 그의 마음이 당신 앞에서 신실한 것을 발견하셨고, 가나안족들과 히타이트족들과 아모리족들과 프리즈족들과 여부스족들과 기르가시족들의 지역을 주시려고, 즉 그의 씨에게 그곳을 주시려고 그와 언약을 맺으셨으며, 당신의 말씀들을 수행하셨나이다. 이는 당신께서 의로우시기 때문이니이다.
8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
9 그리고 당신께서는 이집트에서 우리 조상들의 고난을 보셨고 홍해 옆에서 그들의 부르짖음을 들으셨으니,
9 And didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red sea;
10 파라오 위와 그의 모든 종들 위와 그의 영토에 있는 모든 백성 위에서 표적들과 이적들을 보이셨나이다. 이는 저들이 그들을 대적하여 교만하게 처신한 것을 당신께서 아셨기 때문이니이다. 그렇게 하여 당신께서 친히 이름을 얻으셨으니, 그것이 오늘날과 같나이다.
10 And shewedst signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land: for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them. So didst thou get thee a name, as it is this day.
11 그리고 당신께서 그들 앞에서 바다를 나누셨기에 그들이 마른 육지 위로 바다 한복판을 가로질러 갔나이다. 그리고 당신께서 그들의 박해자들을 깊음들 속으로 던지셨으니, 막강한 물들 속에 돌을 던지듯 하셨나이다.
11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
12 이뿐만 아니라 당신께서 그들을 낮에는 구름 기둥으로, 밤에는 불 기둥으로 이끄셨나니, 그들이 가야 하는 길로 그들에게 빛을 주시기 위함이니이다.
12 Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
13 또한 당신께서 시나이산 위로 내려오셨고 하늘에서부터 그들과 함께 말씀하셨으며 의롭고 공의로운 법도들과 진실한 율법들과 선한 규례들과 명령들을 그들에게 주셨으니,
13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:
14 당신의 종 모세의 손을 통하여 그들에게 당신의 거룩한 안식일을 알게 하셨고 그들에게 규범들과 규례들과 율법들을 명령하셨으며,
14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
15 그들의 배고픔으로 인하여 그들에게 하늘에서 빵을 내리셨고, 그들의 목마름으로 인하여 반석에서 그들을 위한 물을 내셨으며, 당신께서 그들에게 주겠다고 맹세하신 그 지역을 그들이 들어가서 차지할 것을 그들에게 약속하셨나이다.
15 And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.
16 그러나 그들과 우리 조상들이 교만하게 처신하였고 그들의 고개를 꼿꼿하게 하여 당신의 명령들에 경청하지 아니하였으며
16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
17 순종하기를 거부하였고, 당신께서 그들 사이에서 행하신 당신의 이적들을 명심하지도 아니하였으니, 오히려 그들의 고개를 꼿꼿하게 하였고 그들의 반역 가운데서 자신들의 노예 생활로 되돌아가려고 대장을 임명하였나이다. 그러나 당신께서는 기꺼이 면죄하시는 한 하나님이시니, 은혜로우시고 자비로우시며, 분노를 늦추시고, 위대한 친절을 지니셨으며, 그들을 저버리지 아니하셨나이다.
17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
18 진정 그들이 자신들에게 주조된 송아지를 만든 뒤에 말하기를, ‘이것이 너를 이집트에서 데리고 올라온 너의 하나님이라.’ 하여 크나큰 도발들을 일으켰을 때
18 Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;
19 여전히 당신께서는 당신의 수많은 자비들로 그들을 광야 가운데서 저버리지 아니하셨나이다. 낮에는 구름 기둥이 그들에게서 떠나지 아니하였고, 그들을 길에서 이끌었나이다. 또한 밤에는 불 기둥도 떠나지 아니하고 그들에게 빛과, 그들이 가야 하는 길을 보여주었나이다.
19 Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.
20 당신께서는 그들을 지도하시고자 당신의 선한 영도 주셨고, 그들의 입에서 당신의 만나를 거두지 아니하셨으며, 그들의 목마름으로 인하여 그들에게 물을 주셨나이다.
20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
21 진정 사십 년 동안 당신께서 그들을 광야 가운데서 부양하셨기에 그들이 아무것도 부족하지 아니하였나이다. 그들의 옷은 낡아지지 아니하였고 그들의 발은 부어오르지 아니하였나이다.
21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
22 이뿐만 아니라 당신께서 그들에게 왕국들과 민족들을 주셨고 그것들을 여러 구석들로 나누셨나이다. 그렇게 하여 그들이 시혼의 영토와 헤슈본 왕의 영토와 바샨 왕 옥의 영토를 차지하였나이다.
22 Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.
23 그들의 자녀들도 당신께서 하늘의 별들같이 번성하게 하셨고, 그들을 그 지역 가운데로 데리고 들어가셨나니, 그 지역에 관해서는 당신께서 그들의 조상들에게 약속하시기를, 그들이 그것을 차지하러 들어갈 것이라고 하셨나이다.
23 Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.
24 이처럼 자녀들이 들어가서 그 지역을 차지하였고 당신께서는 그들 앞에서 그 지역의 거주자들인 가나안족들을 정복하셨으며 그들의 손안에 저들을 넘기시며 저들의 왕들과 그 지역의 백성들까지 넘기시어 그들이 스스로 바라는 대로 저들에게 행하게 하셨나이다.
24 So the children went in and possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the land, that they might do with them as they would.
25 그리고 그들이 강한 도시들과 비옥한 토지를 점령하였고 모든 재화들로 가득 찬 집들과 파여 있는 우물들과 포도원들과 올리브밭들과 과일나무들을 넘치게 소유하였나이다. 그렇게 하여 그들이 먹었고 배불렀으며 살이 쪘고 당신의 위대한 선하심을 스스로 크게 즐거워하였나이다.
25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.
26 그럼에도 불구하고 그들은 불순종하였고 당신을 대적하여 반역하였으며 당신의 율법을 그들의 등 뒤로 던졌고, 그들을 당신께로 돌이키게 하려고 그들을 대적하여 증언한 당신의 예언자들을 살해하였나니, 그들이 크나큰 도발들을 일으켰나이다.
26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.
27 그러므로 당신께서 그들의 원수들의 손안에 그들을 넘기셨으니, 그 원수들이 그들을 핍박하였나이다. 그리고 그들의 곤경의 때에 그들이 당신께 부르짖을 때면 당신께서 하늘에서부터 그들에게 경청하셨나이다. 그리고 당신께서는 당신의 수많은 자비들에 따라 그들에게 구원자들을 주셨으니, 그 구원자들이 그들의 원수들의 손에서 그들을 구원하였나이다.
27 Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
28 그러나 그들이 안식을 얻은 후에 그들은 당신 앞에서 다시 악을 행하였나이다. 그러므로 당신께서 그들의 원수들의 손안에 그들을 버려두셨사오니, 그렇게 하여 저들이 그들 위에 통치권을 가졌나이다. 그럼에도 그들이 되돌아와서 당신께 부르짖었을 때 당신께서는 하늘로부터 그들의 말을 들으셨나이다. 그리하여 당신께서는 당신의 자비들에 따라 여러 번 그들을 구출하셨나이다.
28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies;
29 그리고 당신께서 그들을 다시 당신의 율법으로 데려오시려고 그들을 대적하여 증언하셨나이다. 그럼에도 그들이 교만하게 처신하였고, 당신의 명령들에 경청하지 아니하였으며, 오히려 당신의 공의로운 법규들을 대적하여 죄를 지었고, (만일 어떤 사람이 공의로운 법규들을 행한다면 그는 그것들 가운데서 살 것이니이다.) 어깨를 빼며 그들의 고개를 꼿꼿하게 세우고 들으려 하지 아니하였나이다.
29 And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.
30 그럼에도 여러 해들 동안 당신께서는 그들을 참아 주셨고 당신의 예언자들 안에 있는 당신의 영을 통하여 그들을 대적하여 증언하셨나이다. 그럼에도 그들은 귀담아들으려 하지 아니하였나이다. 그러므로 당신께서 여러 지역들의 백성의 손안에 그들을 주셨나이다.
30 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.
31 그럼에도 불구하고 당신의 위대한 자비들로 인하여 당신께서 그들을 모조리 진멸시키지 아니하셨고 그들을 저버리지도 아니하셨나이다. 이는 당신께서 은혜로우시고 자비로우신 한 하나님이시기 때문이니이다.
31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
32 그러므로 이제 우리 하나님이요, 위대하신 분이요, 막강하신 분이요, 공포스러우신 하나님이요, 언약과 자비를 지키시는 분이여, 아시리아 왕들의 시대 이래 오늘날까지 우리와 우리의 왕들과 우리의 통치자들과 우리의 제사장들과 우리의 예언자들과 우리의 조상들과 당신의 모든 백성 위에 임한 모든 곤경이 당신 앞에 작은 것으로 보이지 않게 하소서.
32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.
33 하지만 당신께서는 우리에게 일어난 모든 일에 있어서 정의로우시나이다. 이는 당신께서는 옳게 행하셨으나, 우리는 사악하게 행하였기 때문이니이다.
33 Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:
34 또한 우리의 왕들과 우리의 통치자들과 우리의 제사장들과 우리의 조상들도 당신의 율법을 지키지 아니하였고, 당신께서 그들을 대적하여 증언하는데 사용하신 당신의 명령들과 당신의 증언들에 경청하지 아니하였나이다.
34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them.
35 이는 그들의 왕국 가운데서, 또 당신께서 그들에게 주신 당신의 위대한 선하심 가운데서, 또 당신께서 그들 앞에 주신 크고 비옥한 지역 가운데서 그들이 당신을 섬기지 아니하였기 때문이니이다. 또한 그들은 자신들의 사악한 행위들에서 돌이키지 아니하였나이다.
35 For they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land which thou gavest before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
36 보소서, 우리는 이날 종들이오니, 보소서, 당신께서 우리의 조상들에게 그곳의 열매와 그곳의 좋은 것을 먹으라고 주신 지역으로 인하여 우리는 그곳에서 종들이니이다.
36 Behold, we are servants this day, and for the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are servants in it:
37 그리고 그곳은 당신께서 우리의 죄들 때문에 우리를 다스리도록 세우신 왕들에게 많은 소산을 냈나이다. 또한 그들은 그들의 임의대로 우리의 몸과 우리의 가축들을 지배하였으니, 우리가 크나큰 괴로움 가운데 있나이다.
37 And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: also they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.
38 그리고 이 모든 것 때문에 우리가 확실한 언약을 맺으며 그것을 기록하나이다. 그리고 우리의 통치자들과 레위인들과 제사장들이 그것에 인장을 찍나이다.”
38 And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.
