1 이번이 내가 너희에게 세 번째로 나아가는 것이라. 모든 말마다 두세 증인의 입으로 확립되어야 하리라.

1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

2 내가 미리 너희에게 알려 주었으니, 마치 내가 대면하고 있는 것같이 두 번째로 예고하노라. 그런즉 지금 내가 떨어져 있는 동안, 여태까지 죄를 지어 온 자들과 다른 모든 이들에게 쓰노니, 내가 다시 가면 내가 그냥 넘어가지 아니하리라.

2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

3 이는 너희가 내 안에 그리스도께서 말씀하시는 것을 입증하기를 구하기 때문이라. 그분은 너희를 향하여 약하지 아니하시고 오히려 너희 안에서 막강하시니라.

3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

4 이는 그분께서 약하심으로 인하여 십자가에 못 박히셨지만 그럼에도 그분께서는 하나님의 권능에 의하여 살아 계시기 때문이라. 이는 우리 역시 그분 안에서 약하나 너희를 향한 하나님의 권능에 의하여 우리가 그분과 함께 살 것이기 때문이라.

4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 너희가 믿음 안에 있는지 스스로 점검하고 너희 자신을 입증하라. 너희가 버림받은 자들이 아니라면 예수 그리스도께서 너희 안에 계신 것을 너희 자신이 모르겠느냐?

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

6 그러나 우리가 버림받은 자들이 아닌 것을 너희가 알 것이라고 내가 확신하노라.

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

7 이제 내가 하나님께 기도하는 것은 너희가 악을 전혀 행하지 않는 것이라. 우리가 검증받은 자로 나타나려는 것이 아니라, 오히려 우리가 버림받은 자같이 될지라도 너희는 정직한 것을 행하게 하려 함이라.

7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

8 이는 우리가 진리를 대적해서는 아무것도 할 수 없으며 오직 진리를 위해서만 할 수 있기 때문이라.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

9 이는 우리가 약할 때에 너희가 강한 것을 우리가 반기기 때문이라. 그런즉 이 또한 우리가 염원하노니, 바로 너희의 완전함이라.

9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

10 그러므로 내가 떠나 있을 때 이것들을 기록하노니, 주께서 나에게 멸망을 위해서가 아니라 세움을 위해서 주신 권능에 따라, 내가 대면할 때 신랄하게 대하지 않으려 함이라.

10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

11 마지막으로 형제들아, 잘 지내라. 완전하라. 훌륭한 위로를 받으라. 한 생각이 되라. 화평 가운데 살라. 그리하면 사랑과 화평의 하나님께서 너희와 함께 계시리로다.

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

12 거룩한 입맞춤으로 서로 인사하라.

12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

13 모든 성도들이 너희에게 문안하느니라.

13 All the saints salute you.

14 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와 하나님의 사랑과 성령님의 교감이 너희 모두와 함께 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
