1 이뿐만 아니라 형제들아, 우리가 마케도니아의 교회들에게 부여된 하나님의 은혜에 관하여 너희에게 알리고자 하노니,
1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
2 고난에서 비롯된 크나큰 시련 속에서 그들의 넘치는 즐거움과 그들의 심각한 빈궁이 풍족해져서 그들이 관대한 연보를 넘치게 하기에 이르렀다는 것이라.
2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
3 이는 내가 확증하노니, 그들은 자기들의 능력껏 하였고, 진정 자신들의 능력 이상으로 자원하였기 때문이라.
3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
4 그러면서 우리가 그 선물을 받을 것과 우리가 성도들을 섬기는 일의 교제를 받아들여 줄 것을 무척 간청하면서 우리에게 간구하였느니라.
4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
5 그런즉 우리가 소망한 것은 아니었으나 그들이 이것을 행하였으니, 오히려 먼저 그들 자신을 주께 드리고 하나님의 뜻에 의하여 우리에게도 준 것이라.
5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
6 우리가 디도에게 요청할 정도였으니, 곧 그가 시작했던 것같이 그 동일한 은혜 또한 그가 너희 가운데서도 이처럼 완수하라는 것이라.
6 Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.
7 그러므로 너희가 모든 일에 있어서 저마다 넘치는 것같이, 곧 믿음과 발언과 지식과 모든 부지런함과 우리를 향한 너희의 사랑에 있어서 넘치는 것같이 이 은혜에 있어서도 너희가 넘치도록 힘쓰라.
7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
8 나는 명령으로 말하지 아니하고 다른 이들의 열성을 계기로 말하노니, 너희 사랑의 진심을 입증하고자 함이라.
8 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
9 이는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜를 너희가 알고 있기 때문이니, 곧 그분께서 부요하셨음에도 불구하고 너희를 위하여 친히 가난하게 되신 것은 너희로 하여금 그분의 빈궁을 통하여 부요하게 되도록 하려 하심이라.
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
10 그런즉 이 점에 있어 내가 나의 충고를 주노라. 이는 너희가 일 년 전부터 먼저 시작하여 행하였을 뿐 아니라 열성이 있었으니, 이렇게 하는 것이 너희에게 이롭기 때문이라.
10 And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago.
11 그러므로 이제 그것을 실천하여 완수하라. 이는 너희가 자발적으로 할 준비가 된 상태였던 것같이 너희가 가진 것에서도 그렇게 실행하게 하려 함이라.
11 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
12 이는 먼저 어떤 자원하는 생각이 있다면 사람이 가진 것에 따라 그것이 기꺼이 받아들여지기 때문이요, 자신이 가지지 않은 것에 따르지는 아니하기 때문이라.
12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13 이는 다른 사람들은 안락해지고 너희가 부담을 져야 한다는 뜻으로 내가 말하는 것이 아니라,
13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
14 다만 균등함에 의한 것이니, 지금 이때에는 너희의 풍요함이 그들의 궁핍을 위한 공급이 되게 하여 그들의 풍요함 역시 너희의 궁핍을 위한 공급이 되게 하려 함이니, 이로써 균등함이 있게 하려 함이라.
14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
15 기록된 바와 같으니, “많이 거둔 자도 남지 아니하였으며, 조금 거둔 자도 전혀 부족하지 아니하였더라.” 하였도다.
15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
16 그러나 하나님께서 감사들을 받으시기를 바라노라. 그분께서 너희를 위하여 디도의 마음속에 그 같은 열렬한 관심을 넣어 주셨느니라.
16 But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
17 이는 정녕 그가 그 권면함을 기꺼이 받아들였고, 오히려 더욱 열성이 있어 자기 자신의 뜻으로 그가 너희에게로 갔기 때문이라.
17 For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own accord he went unto you.
18 그리고 우리가 그와 함께 그 형제를 보냈으니, 그는 모든 교회들에 걸쳐 복음으로 찬사를 받는 자라.
18 And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches;
19 또 그뿐만 아니라 그는 교회들에서 이 은혜와 더불어 우리와 함께 여행하도록 선택되기도 하였느니라. 그 은혜는 우리에 의하여 집행되고 있으니, 동일하신 주의 영광에 이르게 하고 너희의 준비된 생각을 분명히 밝히게 하려 함이라.
19 And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:
20 우리에 의하여 집행되고 있는 이 풍성함에 있어서는 어떤 사람도 우리를 비난하지 못하도록 이 일을 조심하라.
20 Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us:
21 주의 목전에서 뿐 아니라 사람들의 목전에서도 정직한 일들을 위해 대비하라.
21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
22 그런즉 우리가 우리의 형제를 그들과 함께 보냈으니, 그는 많은 일들에 있어서 부지런하다고 우리가 여러 번 입증한 자이며, 오히려 지금은 내가 너희 안에 가지는 대단한 확신으로 인하여 더욱더 부지런해졌느니라.
22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you.
23 어떤 이가 디도에 관하여 묻는다면, 그는 너희에 관하여 나의 동반자이자 동료 조력자라 하리오, 또 우리 형제들에 관하여 질문을 받는다면, 그들은 교회들의 전령들이자 그리스도의 영광이라 하리라.
23 Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.
24 이런 이유로 너희는 그들에게와 교회들 앞에서 너희의 사랑을 입증해 보이라. 그리고 너희를 대신하여 우리가 자랑한 것에 관해서도 입증해 보이라.
24 Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
