1 페르시아 왕 키루스 제삼년에 벨트샤잘이라는 이름으로 불리는 다니엘에게 한 가지가 계시되었노라. 그런데 그것은 참되나 정해진 때가 멀었더라. 그런즉 그는 그것을 이해하였으니, 그 현시에 관한 이해를 지녔더라.
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2 그 당시 나, 다니엘은 삼 주간 전체를 애도하고 있었더라.
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 삼 주간이 모두 다 찰 때까지 나는 기쁨을 주는 빵을 먹지 아니하였고 고기와 포도즙도 나의 입안으로 들어오지 아니하였으며, 나는 나의 몸에 기름을 전혀 바르지도 아니하였더라.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4 그러다가 첫째 달 이십사 일에 내가 힛데켈이라 하는 거대한 강의 변두리에 있었더라.
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5 그때 내가 나의 두 눈을 들어 바라보았는데, 아마포 옷이 입혀져 있고 그의 허리에 우파즈 정금으로 띠가 둘려 있는 어떤 남자 한 명을 보니라.
5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6 그의 몸은 녹주석과도 같았고 그의 얼굴은 번개 모양 같았으며 그의 두 눈은 불붙은 등불들 같았고 그의 두 팔과 그의 두 발은 광택이 나는 놋 색깔 같았으며 그의 말들의 음성은 무리의 음성과 같았더라.
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 그리고 나, 다니엘은 홀로 그 현시를 보았더라. 이는 나와 함께 있던 사람들이 그 현시를 보지 않았기 때문이라. 다만 그들 위에 크나큰 떨림이 임하였기에 그들은 자신들을 숨기려고 도망하였더라.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8 그러므로 내가 홀로 남겨져서 이 엄청난 현시를 보았을 때 내 안에는 힘이 남아 있지 아니하였더라. 이는 나의 준수함이 내 안에서 부패함으로 변하였고, 나에게는 아무런 힘이 남아 있지 아니하였던 까닭이라.
8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 그럼에도 내가 그의 말들의 음성을 들었더라. 그리고 내가 그의 말들의 음성을 들었던 그때 나는 나의 얼굴을 댄 채 깊은 잠이 들었으니, 나의 얼굴은 땅바닥으로 향해 있었더라.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10 ¶ 그런데 보라, 한 손이 나를 만졌으니, 그 손이 나를 세워 나의 두 무릎과 나의 두 손바닥으로 지지하게 하였더라.
10 ¶ And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 그러면서 그가 나에게 말하기를, “오, 대단히 사랑받는 사람 다니엘아, 내가 너에게 전하는 말들을 이해하고 똑바로 서라. 이는 내가 지금 너에게 보냄을 받았기 때문이라.” 하였더라. 그리고 그가 나에게 이 말을 전하였을 때 나는 떨면서 일어섰더라.
11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 그때 그가 나에게 이같이 말하였더라. “다니엘아, 두려워하지 말라. 이는 네가 이해해 보고자 너의 마음을 정하고 너의 하나님 앞에서 스스로를 징계하기로 정한 첫날부터 너의 말들이 경청되었기에 너의 말들로 인하여 내가 왔느니라.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 그러나 페르시아 왕국의 통치자가 이십일 일 동안 나를 대항하였도다. 그러나 보라, 최고 통치자들 중 하나인 미카엘이 나를 도우러 왔느니라. 그리하여 내가 페르시아의 왕들과 함께 거기에 남아 있었느니라.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14 이제 나는 마지막에 가까운 날들에 너의 백성에게 닥칠 일을 너에게 이해시키려고 왔노라. 이는 그 현시가 있으려면 아직 많은 날들이 걸리기 때문이라.”
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15 그리고 그가 그런 말들을 나에게 전하였을 때 나는 나의 얼굴을 땅바닥을 향해 두었고 나는 말 못 하는 자처럼 되었더라.
15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16 그런데 보라, 사람들의 아들들의 모습 같은 분께서 나의 입술을 건드렸더라. 그때 내가 나의 입을 열었고 내 앞에 선 분에게 이같이 일러 말씀드렸더라. “오, 나의 주여, 그 현시에 의하여 저의 슬픔들이 제 위로 돌아왔기에 저는 아무런 힘도 간직하고 있지 아니하나이다.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17 그런즉 이러한 나의 주의 종이 어떻게 이러한 나의 주와 대화할 수 있겠나이까? 이는 저로 말하자면, 즉각 제 안에 힘이 전혀 남아 있지 아니하였으며, 제 안에 호흡도 남지 아니하였기 때문이니이다.”
17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18 그때 사람의 모습처럼 생기신 이가 다시 오시어 나를 쓰다듬으셨고 친히 나에게 힘을 주셨으며
18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19 말씀하시기를, “오, 대단히 사랑받는 사람아, 두려워하지 말라. 평안이 너에게 있기를 바라노라. 강건하라. 진정 강건하라.” 하셨더라. 그리고 그분께서 나에게 말씀하셨을 때 내가 힘이 생겨서 말씀드리기를, “나의 주께서는 말씀하시옵소서. 이는 당신께서 저에게 힘을 주셨기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20 그때 그분께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너는 어떤 이유에서 내가 너에게 왔는지 아느냐? 그리고 이제 나는 페르시아의 통치자와 싸우기 위하여 되돌아갈 것이라. 그런즉 보라, 내가 떠나간 후에 헬라의 통치자가 올 것이라.
20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21 그러나 내가 진리의 성경 기록 안에 적힌 것을 너에게 보여 주겠노라. 그리고 이러한 것들에 있어서 나를 지지하는 자는 너희의 통치자 미카엘 외에는 아무도 없느니라.
21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
