1 이어서 내가 바다의 모래 위에 서서 한 짐승이 바다에서 일어나는 것을 보았으니, 일곱 머리들과 열 뿔들을 가졌고 그의 뿔들 위에는 열 개의 왕관들이 있으며 그의 머리들 위에는 신성 모독하는 이름이 있었더라.
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 그리고 내가 본 그 짐승은 표범 같았으며 그의 발들은 곰의 발들 같았고 그의 입은 사자의 입 같았더라. 그리고 그 용이 그에게 자신의 권능과 자신의 자리와 막대한 권위를 주었더라.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 그리고 내가 보았더니, 그의 머리들 중 하나가 상처를 입어 죽게 된 것 같았도다. 그런데 그의 치명적인 상처가 치유되었더라. 그러자 온 세상이 경이로워하며 그 짐승을 좇았더라.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 그리고 그들이 그 짐승에게 권능을 준 용을 경배하였더라. 그러면서 그들이 그 짐승을 경배하며 말하기를, “누가 그 짐승과 같으리오? 누가 능히 그와 전쟁을 벌일 수 있으리오?” 하였더라.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 그리고 그에게 엄청난 것들과 신성 모독들을 내뱉는 입이 주어졌더라. 그리고 사십이 개월 동안 지속되는 권능이 그에게 주어졌더라.
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 그리고 그가 하나님을 대적하는 신성 모독으로 자기 입을 벌렸으니, 그분의 이름과 그분의 성막과 하늘에 거하는 자들을 모독하려는 것이더라.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 그리고 성도들과 전쟁을 벌여서 그들을 이기는 권능이 그에게 주어졌더라. 또 모든 종족들과 어족들과 민족들을 거느리는 권능이 그에게 주어졌더라.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 그리하여 땅 위에 거하는 모두가 그를 경배하리니, 그들의 이름들은 세상의 기초가 세워진 이래로, 도살당하신 어린양의 생명책 안에 기록되지 않은 자들이라.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 누구든 귀가 있다면 그는 들을지어다.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 포로를 사로잡아 끌고 가는 자는 포로로 끌려가리라. 칼로 죽이는 자는 반드시 칼로 죽임을 당하리라. 여기에 성도들의 인내와 믿음이 있느니라.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 그리고 내가 땅에서 올라오는 또 다른 짐승을 보았으니, 그는 어린양처럼 두 뿔을 가졌으며 그는 용같이 말하였더라.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 그리고 그가 첫째 짐승의 모든 권능을 그 앞에서 행사하고, 땅과 그 안에 거하는 자들로 하여금 치명적인 상처에서 치유된 첫째 짐승을 경배하게 하니라.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 그리고 그는 대단한 이적들을 행하니, 그렇게 하여 그가 사람들의 목전에서 하늘로부터 지상으로 불이 내려오게 하니라.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 또 그가 그 짐승의 목전에서 행할 권능을 가졌던 그 기적들의 방식으로 지상에 거하는 자들을 속이고, 칼에 의하여 상처를 입고서도 살아난 그 짐승을 위하여 그들이 형상을 만들어야 한다고 지상에 거하는 자들에게 말하니라.
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 그리고 그가 그 짐승의 형상에게 생명을 주는 권능을 가졌으니, 그 짐승의 형상으로 하여금 말하게도 하고, 그 짐승의 형상에게 경배하지 않으려는 자들은 다 죽임을 당하게도 하였더라.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 그리하여 그가 작은 자도 큰 자도, 부유한 자도 가난한 자도, 자유로운 자도 속박된 자도 모두 그들의 오른손 안이나 그들의 이마 안에 표를 받게 하니,
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 그 표나 그 짐승의 이름이나 그의 이름의 숫자를 지닌 자 외에는 아무도 사거나 팔지 못하게 하려 함이더라.
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 여기에 지혜가 있느니라. 명철이 있는 자는 그 짐승의 숫자를 세어 볼지어다. 이는 그것이 한 사람의 숫자이며 그의 숫자는 육백육십육이기 때문이라.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
