1 그 후에 다윗의 날들에 해를 거듭하여 삼 년 동안 한 기근이 있었으니, 다윗이 주께 여쭈었더라. 그런즉 주께서 이같이 대답하셨더라. “그것은 사울로 인한 것이요, 피비린내 나는 그의 집으로 인한 것이니, 그가 기브온족들을 살해하였기 때문이라.”
1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.
2 그리하여 왕이 기브온족들을 불러 그들에게 말하였더라. (이때 기브온족들은 이스라엘 자녀들에 속하지 아니하였고, 오직 아모리족들의 남은 자들에 속하였더라. 그리고 이스라엘 자녀들이 전에 그들에게 맹세하였는데 사울이 이스라엘과 유다 자녀들에 대한 그의 열심으로 그들을 살해하려고 하였더라.)
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 이러한 이유로 다윗이 기브온족들에게 말하기를, “내가 너희를 위하여 무엇을 하랴? 그리고 너희가 주의 유산을 축복할 수 있도록 내가 무엇으로 속죄를 이행하랴?” 하였더라.
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?
4 그러자 기브온족들이 그에게 말하기를, “우리는 사울에게서도, 그의 집에서도 은이나 금을 얻지 아니하리이다. 또한 우리를 위하여 당신께서는 이스라엘에서 어떤 사람도 죽이지 마소서.” 하였더라. 이에 그가 말하기를, “너희가 말할 것, 그것을 내가 너희를 위하여 행하겠노라.” 하였더라.
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.
5 이어서 그들이 왕에게 이같이 대답하였더라. “저희를 파멸시키고 저희에 대하여 계책을 고안하여 저희가 이스라엘 지경들 중 어느 곳에서도 남아 있지 못하고 멸망하게 되도록 한 그 남자,
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,
6 곧, 그의 아들들 중 일곱 명의 남자들이 저희에게 넘겨지게 하소서. 그리하면 저희가 그들을 주께서 택하신 사울의 기브아에서 주를 향하여 매달아 놓겠나이다.” 이에 왕이 말하기를, “내가 그들을 주겠노라.” 하였더라.
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.
7 그러나 왕이 사울의 아들이요 요나단의 아들인 므피보솃은 아껴 두었으니, 이는 그들 사이에 있던, 곧 다윗과 사울의 아들 요나단 사이에 있던 주의 맹세 때문이니라.
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD'S oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8 그러나 왕이 아야의 딸 리즈파의 두 아들들, 곧 그녀가 사울에게 낳아 준 알모니와 므피보솃을 붙잡았더라. 또 사울의 딸 미칼의 다섯 아들들, 곧 그녀가 므홀랏족인 바르질래의 아들 아드리엘을 위하여 육성시킨 자들을 붙잡았더라.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:
9 그리하여 그가 그들을 기브온족들의 손안에 넘겼으니, 저들이 주 앞에서 그들을 언덕 가운데 매달았더라. 그리하여 그들 일곱 명이 모두 함께 쓰러져 수확의 날들, 곧 보리 수확이 시작되는 첫 날들에 죽음에 처해졌더라.
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.
10 ¶ 그러자 아야의 딸인 리즈파가 굵은 베를 취하여 자신을 위해 그것을 바위 위에다 펼쳤으니, 수확의 초기부터 그들 위로 하늘에서 물방울이 떨어질 때까지 그리하였고, 낮이면 공중의 새들이 그들 위에서 쉬는 것도, 밤이면 들짐승들이 오는 것도 용납하지 아니하였더라.
10 ¶ And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
11 이후에 아야의 딸이자 사울의 첩인 리즈파가 행한 일이 다윗에게 알려졌더라.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.
12 ¶ 그러자 다윗이 가서 사울의 뼈들과 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈들을 야베시길르앗 사람들에게서 가져왔으니, 그들은 필리스티아인들이 사울을 길보아에서 살해하였을 때, 필리스티아인들이 그들을 매단 벧샨 거리에서부터 그것들을 훔쳐온 자들이라.
12 ¶ And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabeshgilead, which had stolen them from the street of Bethshan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:
13 그리하여 그가 거기서부터 사울의 뼈들과 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈들을 가지고 올라왔으니, 그들이 매달렸던 자들의 뼈들을 모았더라.
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.
14 그리고 사울과 그의 아들 요나단의 뼈들을 그들이 젤라에 있는 베냐민 지방에서 그의 아버지 키시의 돌무덤 안에다 장사하였더라. 그리하여 그들이 왕이 명령한 모든 것을 수행하였더라. 그러고 난 뒤에야 하나님께서 그 지역을 위한 탄원을 들어주셨더라.
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
15 ¶ 이뿐만 아니라, 필리스티아인들이 이스라엘과 또다시 전쟁을 벌였더라. 그리하여 다윗과 그와 함께한 그의 종들이 내려가서 필리스티아인들을 대적하여 싸웠는데 다윗이 기진하게 되었더라.
15 ¶ Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.
16 그런데 거인의 자손들 중에 하나인 이슈비브놉이 다윗을 살해할 생각이었더라. 그의 창의 무게는 놋의 무게로 삼백 셰켈이 나갔으며, 그는 새로운 칼 한 자루를 허리띠에 찼더라.
16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.
17 그러나 스루야의 아들 아비샤이가 그를 구하고 그 필리스티아인을 쳐서 그를 죽였더라. 그때 다윗의 사람들이 그에게 맹세하며 말하기를, “당신께서는 더 이상 저희와 함께 전투에 나오지 마소서. 이는 당신께서 이스라엘의 빛을 끄지 않도록 함이니이다.” 하였더라.
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.
18 그리고 이 일이 있고 나서 다음과 같은 일이 있었으니, 곱에서 다시 필리스티아인들과 한 전투가 벌어졌더라. 그때 후샷족인 십븍하이가 삽을 살해하였는데 그는 거인의 자손들에 속하였더라.
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.
19 그리고 곱에서 다시 필리스티아인들과 한 전투가 벌어졌는데 그곳에서 베들레헴족 야아레오르김의 아들 엘하난이 가드족 골리앗의 형제를 살해하였으니, 그의 창 자루가 베틀 채 같았더라.
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
20 그리고 가드에서 한 전투가 또 벌어졌는데 거기에 키가 장대한 한 남자가 있었으니, 손마다 손가락이 여섯 개씩 달렸고, 발마다 발가락이 여섯 개씩 달렸으니, 그 수가 스물 넷이더라. 그리고 그 또한 그 거인에게 태어난 자였더라.
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.
21 그런즉 그가 이스라엘에게 싸움을 걸자 다윗의 형제인 시므아의 아들 요나단이 그를 살해하였더라.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.
22 이들 넷은 가드에서 그 거인에게 태어났는데 다윗의 손과 그의 종들의 손에 의하여 쓰러졌더라.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
