1 이후에 왕이 자기 집 안에 앉고 주께서 그의 주변 모든 원수들로부터 그에게 안식을 주셨을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니,

And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

2 왕이 예언자 나단에게 말하기를, “이제 보라. 나는 백향목 집 안에 거하고 있으나 하나님의 법궤는 가림막들 안에 거하고 있도다.” 하였더라.

That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

3 그러자 나단이 왕에게 말하기를, “가서 당신의 마음속에 있는 모든 것을 행하소서. 이는 주께서 당신과 함께 하시기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

4 ¶ 이윽고 그날 밤 이러한 일이 있었으니, 주의 말씀이 나단에게 임하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

¶ And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

5 “가서 나의 종 다윗에게 알리라. ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. 네가 나에게 내가 거할 집을 지어 주겠느냐?

Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

6 그러나 내가 이스라엘 자녀들을 이집트에서 데리고 올라온 그때 이래로 오늘날까지 나는 어떤 집 안에서도 거한 적이 없으며, 오히려 천막, 곧 장막 안에서 거닐기만 하였도다.

Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 내가 온 이스라엘 자녀들과 함께 거닐었던 모든 곳에서 내가 나의 백성 이스라엘을 먹이라고 명령한, 이스라엘 지파들 중 어느 지파에게 내가 일러 말하기를, ‘어찌하여 너희가 나에게 백향목으로 된 집을 지어 주지 아니하느냐?’라고 말하였느냐?’

In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

8 그러므로 이제 나의 종 다윗에게 너는 이같이 말할지니라. ‘만군의 주가 이같이 말하노니, 내가 너를 양을 기르는 우리에서, 곧 양들을 따르는 데서 데려다가, 나의 백성, 곧 이스라엘을 다스리는 치리자가 되게 하였노라.

Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

9 그리고 나는 네가 어디로 가든지 너와 함께 있었고, 너의 모든 원수들을 너의 목전에서 끊어 버렸으며, 땅에 있는 위대한 사람들의 이름 같은 위대한 이름을 너에게 만들어 주었노라.

And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

10 이뿐만 아니라 나는 나의 백성 이스라엘을 위하여 한 장소를 지정하여 그들을 심겠으니, 그들이 그들 자신의 장소 안에서 거하여 더 이상 움직이지 않게 하려 함이요, 또한 사악한 자녀들이 그들을 더 이상 예전처럼 괴롭히지도 못하리라.

Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

11 그런즉 내가 판관들에게 나의 백성 이스라엘을 다스리도록 명령한 때 이후와 같이 너의 모든 원수들로부터 네가 안식하게 하였노라. 또한 주가 너에게 알리노니, 그가 너에게 집을 만들어 주겠노라.

And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

12 ¶ 그리고 너의 날들이 차서 네가 너의 조상들과 함께 잠들 때, 내가 너의 뒤를 잇는 너의 씨를 세우겠으니, 그 씨는 너의 내부에서 나올 것이요, 내가 그의 왕국을 확고히 세우겠노라.

¶ And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 그가 나의 이름을 위하여 집을 지어 줄 것이요, 내가 그의 왕국의 보좌를 영원토록 확고하게 세우겠노라.

He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 나는 그의 아버지가 되겠으며 그는 나의 아들이 되리라. 만일 그가 죄악을 범한다면 나는 그를 사람들의 막대기로, 또 사람들의 자녀들의 채찍들로 징계하겠노라.

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

15 그러나 마치 내가 나의 자비를 사울에게서 거둔 것같이 그것이 그에게서 떠나 버리지 아니하리니, 내가 너의 앞에서 사울을 치워 버렸노라.

But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

16 그리하여 너의 집과 너의 왕국이 너의 앞에서 영원토록 확고히 세워지리라. 너의 보좌가 영원토록 확고히 세워지리라.’”

And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

17 이 모든 말씀들에 따라, 또 이 모든 현시에 따라 나단이 다윗에게 그렇게 전하였더라.

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18 ¶ 그때 다윗왕이 들어가서 주 앞에 앉았으며 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “오, 주 하나님이여, 제가 누구니이까? 또 저의 집이 무엇이기에 당신께서 저를 여기까지 데려 오셨나이까?

¶ Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

19 그런데도 오, 주 하나님이여, 이것은 아직 당신의 목전에서는 작은 일이니이다. 그러나 당신께서 당신의 종의 집에 관하여 아주 먼 미래까지도 이야기하셨나이다. 그런즉 오, 주 하나님이여, 이것이 사람의 방식이니이까?

And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

20 그런즉 다윗이 당신께 무엇을 더 말씀드릴 수 있겠나이까? 이는 주 하나님이여, 당신께서는 당신의 종을 아시기 때문이니이다.

And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

21 당신께서 당신의 말씀으로 인하여 당신 자신의 마음에 따라 이 모든 위대한 것들을 행하셨나니, 당신의 종이 그것들을 알게 하셨나이다.

For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

22 오, 주 하나님이여, 이러한 이유로 당신께서는 위대하시니이다. 이는 우리가 우리 귀로 들은 모든 것에 따르면 당신과 같은 분은 아무도 없으며, 당신 외에 어떤 하나님도 없기 때문이니이다.

Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 그리고 땅에서 어떤 민족이 하나라도 당신의 백성, 곧 이스라엘과 같나이까? 하나님께서 가시어 이스라엘을 자신에게 한 백성으로 구속하셨으니, 당신의 지역을 위하여 당신께서 이집트로부터, 또 민족들과 그들의 신들로부터 당신께로 구속하신 당신의 백성 앞에서, 그분 자신에게 이름을 만들어 주고자 하심이요, 당신들을 위하여 위대한 것들과 공포스러운 것들을 행하고자 하심이니이다.

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

24 이는 당신께서 당신의 백성 이스라엘을 당신께 영원토록 한 백성이 되게 하시려고 친히 확정하셨기 때문이니이다. 그런즉 주여, 당신께서 그들의 하나님이 되셨나이다.

For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

25 그런즉 오, 주 하나님이여, 이제 당신께서 당신의 종에 관하여, 또 그의 집에 관하여 언급하신 말씀, 그것을 영원토록 확고히 하시고 당신께서 말씀하신 대로 행하소서.

And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

26 그리고 사람들이 ‘만군의 주께서는 이스라엘을 다스리는 하나님이시라.’하고 말하여 당신의 이름이 영원토록 드높여지게 하소서. 그리고 당신의 종 다윗의 집이 당신 앞에서 확고히 서게 하옵소서.

And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

27 오, 만군의 주, 이스라엘의 하나님이여, 이는 당신께서 당신의 종에게 계시하며 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 너에게 집을 지어 주겠노라.’ 하셨기 때문이니이다. 그러므로 당신의 종이 자신의 마음속에서 이 기도로 당신께 기도드려야 함을 발견하였나이다.

For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

28 그런즉 이제, 오, 주 하나님이여, 당신께서 그 하나님이시니, 당신의 말씀들은 진실되나이다. 또 당신께서 당신의 종에게 이 선한 것을 약속하셨나이다.

And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

29 그러므로 이제 당신의 종의 집에 복을 주시는 것이 당신을 기쁘게 해 드리도록 허락하시어 그것이 영원토록 당신 앞에서 지속되게 하소서. 이는 오, 주 하나님이여, 당신께서 그것을 말씀하셨기 때문이니이다. 그런즉 당신의 복으로 당신의 종의 집이 영원토록 복을 받게 하소서.”

Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
