1 확실히 은을 위한 광맥과 금을 위한 장소가 있어 그들이 그곳에서 그것을 제련하느니라.
1 Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
2 철은 땅에서 캐내어지고, 놋은 돌로부터 녹여져 나오느니라.
2 Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
3 그분께서 어둠에 끝을 정하시고 모든 완전함을 샅샅이 찾아내시나니, 곧 어둠의 돌들과 사망의 그림자라.
3 He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
4 큰물이 그 거주자에게서 터져 나오나니, 곧 그 발에게 잊힌 물들이라. 그것들이 말라 버리는도다. 그것들이 사람들에게서 떠나 버리는도다.
4 The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
5 땅으로 말하자면 그곳에서 빵이 나오느니라. 또 그곳의 아래에는 마치 불 같은 것이 솟구치며 순환하느니라.
5 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
6 그곳의 돌들은 사파이어들의 장소니라. 또 그곳은 사금도 보유하고 있느니라.
6 The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
7 그 어떤 날짐승도 모르는 행로가 있나니, 대머리수리의 눈도 본 적이 없는 길이로다.
7 There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen:
8 사자의 새끼들도 그곳을 밟은 적이 없고, 맹렬한 사자도 그곳을 지나가지 아니하였도다.
8 The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.
9 그분께서 그분의 손을 바위 위에 내미시는도다. 그분께서 산들을 뿌리들까지 뒤집으시는도다.
9 He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10 그분께서 반석들 사이에서 강들을 깎아 내시는도다. 그분의 눈은 모든 보배로운 것을 보고 계시는도다.
10 He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11 그분께서 큰물들을 범람하지 못하도록 싸매시는도다. 또 숨겨진 것을 그분께서 빛으로 꺼내시는도다.
11 He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12 그러나 지혜는 어디에서 발견되겠는가? 또 명철의 장소는 어디인가?
12 But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
13 사람은 그것의 값을 모르는도다. 또한 그것은 산 자들의 지역에서 발견되지도 아니하는도다.
13 Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14 깊은 곳이 말하기를, ‘그것은 내 안에 있지 아니하도다.’ 하느니라. 또 바다가 말하기를 ‘그것은 내 곁에 있지 아니하도다.’ 하느니라.
14 The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
15 그것은 금으로도 얻어질 수 없고, 은도 그것의 값으로 저울질되지 아니하리라.
15 It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16 그것은 오필의 금으로도, 귀한 호마노나 사파이어로도 값을 매길 수 없느니라.
16 It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17 금과 수정도 그것에 필적할 수 없느니라. 또 정금으로 된 장신구들로 그것을 교환함도 없으리라.
17 The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.
18 산호나 진주들은 거론되지도 아니하리라. 이는 지혜의 값이 루비들을 뛰어넘기 때문이라.
18 No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19 에티오피아의 황옥은 그것에 필적하지 못하리라. 또한 그것은 순금으로 값을 매길 수 없으리라.
19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20 그렇다면 어디에서 지혜가 오는가? 또 명철의 장소는 어디인가?
20 Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
21 그것이 모든 살아 있는 것들의 눈들로부터 숨겨지고 공중의 날짐승들에게도 차단되어 있는 것을 고려하면 어디인가?
21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22 멸망과 사망이 말하기를, ‘우리는 그것의 명성을 우리의 귀들로 들었도다.’ 하는도다.
22 Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
23 하나님께서 그것의 길을 이해하시나니, 그분께서 그것의 처소를 아시는도다.
23 God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
24 이는 그분께서 땅의 끝들까지 살피시고 온 하늘 아래를 보시기 때문이니,
24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25 바람들의 무게를 재기 위함이시라. 그런즉 그분께서는 측정하여 물들의 무게를 재시느니라.
25 To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
26 그분께서 비를 위한 칙령을, 또 천둥에서 나오는 번개를 위한 길을 만드셨을 때라.
26 When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
27 그때 그분께서 그것을 보셨고 그것을 선언하셨도다. 그분께서 그것을 예비하셨으니, 진정 그것을 샅샅이 찾아내셨도다.
27 Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
28 그러면서 사람에게 친히 말씀하시기를, ‘보라, 주를 두려워하는 것이 곧 지혜요, 악에서 떠나는 것이 명철이라.’ 하셨느니라.”
28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
