1 그리고 아침에 곧바로 수석 제사장들이 장로들과 서기관들과 온 공회와 함께 협의회를 열었고 예수님을 결박하여 그분을 끌고 가서 빌라도에게 그분을 넘겼더라.

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

2 그러자 빌라도가 그분께 묻기를, “네가 유대인들의 왕이냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그분께서 그들에게 대답하며 말씀하시기를, “네가 그것을 말하는도다.” 하셨느니라.

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.

3 그리고 수석 제사장들이 많은 것들로 그분을 고소하였으나 그분께서는 아무것도 대답하지 않으셨더라.

And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

4 그러자 빌라도가 그분께 다시금 물으며 말하기를, “네가 아무것도 대답하지 않느냐? 그들이 얼마나 많은 것들로 너를 대적하여 증거하는지 보라.” 하였더라.

And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

5 그러나 그럼에도 예수님께서는 아무것도 대답하지 않으셨더라. 그렇게 하자 빌라도가 놀라워하였더라.

But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

6 이제 그 명절에는 그가 한 명의 죄수를 그들에게 풀어 주었으니, 그들이 누구를 희망하든지 간에 그리하였더라.

Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

7 그런데 바라바란 이름으로 불리는 사람이 있었으니, 그가 자신과 함께 내란을 일으킨 자들과 결박되어 있었는데 그는 내란에서 살인을 저질렀더라.

And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

8 그러자 무리가 크게 소리치며 그가 이제껏 그들에게 해왔던 것처럼 해 달라고 그에게 청하기 시작하였더라.

And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

9 그러나 빌라도가 그들에게 대답하며 말하기를, “너희는 내가 유대인들의 왕을 너희에게 풀어주기를 바라느냐?” 하였더라.

But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

10 이는 수석 제사장들이 그분을 시기하여 넘겨주었음을 그가 알았기 때문이라.

For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

11 그러나 수석 제사장들이 백성을 선동하였으니, 그가 오히려 바라바를 그들에게 풀어 주게 하려 함이더라.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

12 이에 빌라도가 다시금 그들에게 대답하며 말하기를, “그렇다면 너희가 유대인들의 왕이라고 부르는 자에게 내가 무엇을 하기를 너희가 바라느냐?” 하였더라.

And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

13 그러자 그들이 다시금 소리 지르며, “그를 십자가에 못 박으소서.” 하였더라.

And they cried out again, Crucify him.

14 그때 빌라도가 그들에게 말하기를, “어째서냐, 그가 무슨 악을 행하였느냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 더욱 극심하게 소리 지르기를, “그를 십자가에 못 박으소서.” 하였더라.

Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

15 ¶ 그리하여 빌라도가 백성을 만족하게 해주려는 의향으로 그들에게 바라바를 풀어 주었으며 그가 그분을 채찍질한 후에, 예수님을 십자가에 못 박히도록 넘겨주었더라.

¶ And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

16 그러자 군인들이 프라이토리움이라 불리는 회관 안으로 그분을 끌고 갔더라. 그리고 그들이 부대 전체를 한데 집합시켰더라.

And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.

17 그러고는 그들이 그분께 자주색 의복을 입히고 가시나무들로 왕관을 엮어 그것을 그분의 머리에 씌웠으니,

And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

18 그분께 “유대인들의 왕, 만세!” 하며 경례하기 시작하였더라.

And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!

19 그런 다음에 그들은 갈대로 그분의 머리를 치고 그분께 침을 뱉었으며 자신들의 무릎을 꿇고 그분께 경배하였더라.

And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

20 그러고는 그들이 그분을 조롱하였을 때 그들이 그분께로부터 그 자주색 의복을 벗겨 내었고 그분 자신의 옷을 그분께 입혔으며 그분을 십자가에 못 박으려고 그분을 끌고 갔더라.

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

21 그런데 곁을 지나가던, 지방에서 온 사람 키레네인 시몬에게 그들이 강제로 그분의 십자가를 짊어지게 하였으니, 그는 알렉산더와 루푸스의 아버지더라.

And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

22 그러자 그들이 그분을 골고다라 하는 장소로 데려갔으니, 그것은, ‘해골의 장소’라고 해석되느니라.

And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

23 그런 다음에 그들이 그분께 몰약이 섞인 포도주를 마시도록 주었으나 그분께서 그것을 받지 않으셨더라.

And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

24 그리고 그들이 그분을 십자가에 못 박은 후에 그들은 그분의 의복들을 놓고 각인이 무엇을 취할지 제비들을 던져 그것들을 갈랐더라.

And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

25 그리하여 제삼시가 되자 그들이 그분을 십자가에 못 박았더라.

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

26 그리고 십자가 위 그분의 죄명을 담은 상부 표기에는 “유대인들의 왕”이라고 기록되었더라.

And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

27 그러고 나서 그들은 그분과 함께 두 명의 도둑을 십자가에 못 박으니, 한 명은 그분의 오른편에, 다른 이는 그분의 왼편에 못 박으니라.

And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

28 그리하여 성경 기록이 성취되었으니 그 성경 기록이 말씀하시기를, “그런즉 그가 불법자들과 함께 계수되었도다.” 하시니라.

And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

29 그리고 곁을 지나가던 자들이 자신들의 머리를 흔들고 그분께 욕설하며 이같이 말하였더라. “아, 너, 성전을 파괴하고 그것을 삼 일 만에 짓는 자여,

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,

30 너 자신을 구원하고 십자가에서 내려오라.”

Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

31 이와 같이 수석 제사장들도 조롱하면서 서기관들과 함께 자기들끼리 이같이 말하였더라. “그가 다른 이들은 구원하였는데도 자기 자신은 구원할 수 없도다.

Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

32 우리가 보고 믿을 수 있도록 이스라엘의 왕인 그리스도로 하여금 지금 십자가에서 내려오게 하라.” 그러자 그분과 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 자들도 그분을 욕하였더라.

Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

33 이윽고 제육시가 되자 어둠이 지역 전체를 제구시까지 덮었더라.

And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

34 그런즉 제구시에 예수님께서 큰 음성으로 소리치며 말씀하시기를, “엘로이, 엘로이, 라마 사박다니?” 하셨느니라. 그것은, “나의 하나님, 나의 하나님, 어찌하여 당신께서는 저를 버리셨나이까?”라고 해석되느니라.

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35 그러자 곁에 서 있던 자들 중 일부가 그들이 그것을 들었을 때 말하기를, “보라, 그가 엘리-야를 부른다.” 하였더라.

And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

36 그리고 한 명은 달려가서 해면을 식초에 가득 적시고 그것을 갈대에 매달아서 그분께 마시도록 주면서 말하기를, “내버려 두라, 엘리-야가 그를 내리려고 올지 우리가 보자.” 하였더라.

And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

37 그러고 나서 예수님께서 큰 음성으로 외치시고 숨을 거두셨더라.

And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 그러자 성전 휘장막이 위에서 아래까지 둘로 찢어졌더라.

And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

39 ¶ 그리고 그분 맞은편에 서 있던 백부장이 그분께서 그렇게 소리 지르신 것과 숨을 거두신 것을 보았을 때, 그가 말하기를, “참으로 이 사람은 하나님의 아들이셨도다.” 하였더라.

¶ And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

40 멀리 떨어져 바라보고 있던 여자들도 있었는데 그들 가운데 막달라인 마리아와 작은 야고보와 요세스의 모친 마리아와 살로메도 있더라.

There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;

41 (또한 그들은 그분께서 갈릴리에 계셨을 때 그분을 따르고 그분을 섬겼던 자들이라.) 그리고 그분과 함께 예루살렘으로 올라온 다른 여자들도 많이 있었더라.

(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

42 ¶ 그리고 그날은 예비일, 곧 안식일 전날이었으므로, 이제 저녁이 되자

¶ And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

43 존경받는 공회원이자 하나님의 왕국을 기다리고 있기도 했던 아리마대아 요셉이 와서 빌라도에게 담대히 나아가 예수님의 시신을 간곡히 요청하였더라.

Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

44 그러자 빌라도는 그분이 벌써 죽었을까 하여 놀라워하였더라. 그런즉 백부장을 그에게로 불러와 그분께서 죽은 지 얼마나 되었는지를 그가 그에게 물었더라.

And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

45 이에 그가 백부장을 통해 그 일을 알았을 때 그가 요셉에게 그 시신을 주었더라.

And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

46 그리하여 그가 고운 아마포를 가져와서 그분을 내리고 그분을 아마포로 감쌌고, 바위에서 파내어진 돌무덤 안에 그분을 안치하였으며, 그 돌무덤의 문까지 돌을 굴려 놓았더라.

And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

47 그러자 막달라인 마리아와 요세스의 모친 마리아가 그분께서 안치되신 곳을 보았더라.

And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.
