1 이후에 왕이 사람들을 보냈고 그들이 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로들을 그에게 집합시켰더라.
1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 그런 다음에 왕이 주의 집 안으로 올라갔고, 유다의 모든 남자들과 그와 함께한 예루살렘의 모든 거주자들과 제사장들과 예언자들과 온 백성이 작은 자, 큰 자 할 것 없이 올라갔더라. 그런 다음에 그가 주의 집 안에서 발견된 언약의 책에 있는 모든 말씀들을 그들의 귀에 낭독하였더라.
2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
3 ¶ 그런 다음에 왕이 기둥 옆에 섰고 주 앞에서 언약을 맺었으니, 주를 따라 살아가기로 하였고, 그분의 명령들과 그분의 증언들과 그분의 규례들을 그들의 마음을 다하고 그들의 혼을 다하여 지키기로 하였으며, 이 책에 기록된 이 언약의 말씀들을 수행하기로 하였더라. 그런즉 온 백성이 언약을 고수하였더라.
3 ¶ And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4 그런 다음에 왕이 대제사장 힐키야와 둘째 서열의 제사장들과 문을 지키는 자들에게 명령하였으니, 주의 성전에서 바알을 위하여, 또 작은 수풀을 위하여, 또 하늘의 모든 군대를 위하여 만들어진 모든 기물들을 꺼내라고 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그것들을 예루살렘 밖에 있는 키드론 평야들에서 태웠고 그것들의 재들을 벧엘로 실어 갔더라.
4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
5 그리고 그가 유다의 도시들과 예루살렘 주변 장소들 안에 있는 높은 처소들에서 향을 태우도록 유다 왕들이 앞서 임명한 우상 숭배의 제사장들을 파직하였으니, 바알에게, 해에게, 달에게, 행성들에게, 하늘의 모든 군대에게 향을 태운 자들에게도 그리하였더라.
5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6 그리고 그가 주의 집에서 작은 수풀을 꺼내 예루살렘 밖 키드론 시내로 가지고 나갔고 그것을 키드론 시내에서 태웠더라. 그리고 그것을 가루로 잘게 분쇄시켰고 그것의 가루를 백성의 자녀들의 무덤들 위에 뿌렸더라.
6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7 그런 다음에 그가 주의 집 옆에 있던 소돔족1들의 집들을 철거하였으니, 그곳은 여자들이 작은 수풀에 거는 천들을 엮어 짜던 곳이었더라.
7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8 그리고 그가 유다의 도시들에서 모든 제사장들을 데려왔고, 그바에서 베르셰바에 이르기까지 그 제사장들이 향을 태웠던 성문들의 높은 처소들을 더럽혔으며 그 도시의 총독인 여호수아의 성문으로 들어가는 진입로에 있었고 그 도시의 성문에서 사람의 왼편에 있었던 높은 처소들을 헐었더라.
8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
9 그럼에도 불구하고 높은 처소들의 제사장들은 예루살렘 안에서 주의 제단으로 올라오지 아니하였으나 그들이 그들의 형제들 사이에서 누룩 없는 빵을 먹었더라.
9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10 그리고 그가 힌놈의 자식들의 골짜기 가운데 있는 톱헷을 더럽혔으니, 아무도 그의 아들이나 그의 딸을 불을 통과하게 하여 몰렉에게 바치지 않게 하려 함이라.
10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11 그리고 그가 유다 왕들이 해에게 바친 말들을 제거하였는데, 그 말들은 주의 집으로 들어가는 진입로에 있으며 그 외곽 지역들 안에 있었던 재무관 나단멜렉의 개인실 옆에 있었더라. 그리고 해의 병거들을 불로 태웠더라.
11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12 그리고 아하즈의 윗방 꼭대기에 있었던 제단들, 곧 유다 왕들이 만들었던 제단들과 므낫세가 주의 집의 두 뜰들에 만들었던 제단들을 왕이 두들겨 부수었고 그것들을 거기에서 헐었으며 그것들의 티끌을 키드론 시내 안에다 던졌더라.
12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13 그리고 예루살렘 앞에 있었던 높은 처소들, 곧 부패의 산 오른편에 있었고 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이 지돈인들의 가증함인 아슈토렛을 위해, 모압족들의 가증함인 크모시를 위해, 또 암몬의 후손들의 가증함인 밀콤을 위해 만들었던 높은 처소들을 왕이 더럽혔더라.
13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14 그리고 그가 그 형상들을 산산이 부수었고 그 작은 수풀들을 베어 냈으며 그것들의 처소들을 사람들의 뼈들로 채웠더라.
14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15 ¶ 이뿐만 아니라 벧엘에 있었던 제단과 이스라엘을 죄짓게 만든 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 조성하였던 높은 처소, 곧 그 제단과 높은 처소 둘 다 그가 헐어 버렸고 높은 처소를 불로 태웠으며 그것을 가루로 잘게 분쇄하였고 작은 수풀을 태웠더라.
15 ¶ Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16 그리고 요시야가 자신의 몸을 돌이키는 동안 그가 거기 그 산속에 있던 돌무덤들을 엿보았고 사람을 보내서 돌무덤들에서 뼈들을 취하였으며 그것들을 제단 위에서 태웠고 그것을 오염시켰으니, 하나님의 사람이 반포한 주의 말씀에 따른 것으로 그가 이 말들을 반포하였더라.
16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17 그때 그가 말하기를, “내가 보고 있는 묘비는 무엇이냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그 도시의 사람들이 그에게 알리기를, “그것은 하나님의 사람의 돌무덤인데, 그가 유다에서 와서 당신께서 벧엘의 제단을 대적하여 행하신 이런 것들을 반포하였나이다.” 하였더라.
17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.
18 그런즉 그가 말하기를, “그를 그대로 두라. 그의 뼈들을 아무도 옮기지 말지어다.” 하였더라. 그렇게 하여 그들이 그의 뼈들을 사마리아에서 왔던 예언자의 뼈들과 함께 그대로 두었더라.
18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19 그리고 사마리아의 도시들 안에 있던 높은 처소들에 속한 모든 집들도 요시야가 제거하였으니, 그것들은 이스라엘의 왕들이 만들어 주께 분노를 일으킨 것들이더라. 그런즉 요시야가 벧엘에서 행한 모든 행적들에 따라 그것들에 행하였더라.
19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
20 그리고 그가 거기에 있었던 높은 처소들의 모든 제사장들을 제단들 위에서 살해하였고 사람들의 뼈들을 그것들 위에서 태웠으며 예루살렘으로 되돌아갔더라.
20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21 ¶ 그러면서 왕이 온 백성에게 명령하며 말하기를, “이 언약 책 안에 기록된 대로 주 너희 하나님께 유월절을 지키라.” 하였더라.
21 ¶ And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22 이스라엘을 재판하였던 판관들의 날들부터 시작하여 이스라엘 왕들의 모든 날들에도, 유다 왕들의 모든 날들에도 그처럼 유월절이 지켜진 적은 확실히 없었더라.
22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23 그러나 요시야왕의 제십팔년에 예루살렘에서 주께 이러한 유월절이 지켜졌더라.
23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.
24 ¶ 이뿐만 아니라 부리는 영들로 일하는 자들과, 요술사들과 형상들과 우상들과, 유다 지역과 예루살렘에서 발견된 모든 가증함들을 요시야가 쓸어버렸으니, 이는 제사장 힐키야가 주의 집 안에서 발견한 책 안에 기록된 율법의 말씀들을 그가 수행하려 함이었더라.
24 ¶ Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
25 그런즉 모세의 모든 율법에 따라 그의 마음을 다하고 그의 혼을 다하며 그의 기운을 다하여 주께 돌이킨 그와 같은 왕은 그의 전에 없었더라. 또한 그의 후에도 그와 같은 자가 누구도 일어나지 아니하였더라.
25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26 ¶ 그럼에도 불구하고 주께서는 유다를 대적하여 자신의 분노가 타오른 것, 곧 자신의 크나큰 진노의 맹렬함으로부터 돌이키지 아니하셨으니, 므낫세가 그분을 격분시킨 모든 도발들 때문이라.
26 ¶ Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27 그런즉 주께서 말씀하시기를, “내가 친히 이스라엘을 치워 버렸듯이 나의 목전에서 유다도 치워 버리겠으며 내가 선택한 이 도시 예루살렘과 내가 그곳의 집에 관하여 말하기를, ‘나의 이름이 거기 있으리라.’ 한 집을 버리겠노라.” 하셨느니라.
27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28 이제 요시야의 행적들 중 나머지와 그가 행한 모든 것, 그것들이 유다 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 ¶ 그의 날들에 이집트 왕 파라오느코흐가 유프라테스강으로 아시리아 왕을 대적하여 올라갔더라. 그리고 요시야왕이 그를 대적하여 갔더라. 그리하여 그가 그를 보았을 때 그가 그를 메기도에서 살해하였더라.
29 ¶ In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30 그러자 그의 신하들이 그를 죽은 채로 병거 안에 태웠고 메기도에서부터 예루살렘까지 그를 실어 왔으며 그가 소유한 돌무덤 안에 그를 장사하였더라. 그리고 그 지역의 백성이 요시야의 아들 여호아하즈를 데려다가 그에게 기름을 부었으며 그를 그의 아버지를 대신하는 왕으로 삼았더라.
30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.
31 ¶ 여호아하즈가 통치하기 시작할 때 그는 이십삼 세였더라. 그리고 그가 예루살렘에서 삼 개월을 통치하였더라. 그리고 그의 어머니의 이름은 하무탈로, 립나 출신 예레미야의 딸이었더라.
31 ¶ Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 그리고 그는 그의 조상들이 행한 모든 것대로 주의 목전에 악한 것을 행하였더라.
32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
33 이후에 파라오느코흐가 하맛의 지역인 리블라에서 그를 포승줄들로 묶어 두었으니, 그가 예루살렘에서 통치하지 못하게 하였고 그 지역에 은 일백 달란트와 금 일 달란트를 조공으로 부과하였더라.
33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34 그리고 파라오느코흐가 요시야의 아들 엘리아킴을 그의 아버지 요시야를 대신하여 왕으로 삼았고, 그의 이름을 여호야킴으로 바꾸었으며, 여호아하즈를 잡아갔더라. 그리하여 그가 이집트로 와서 거기서 죽었더라.
34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35 그리고 여호야킴이 은과 금을 파라오에게 주었더라. 그러나 그가 파라오의 명령대로 돈을 지급하기 위해 그 지역에 세금을 부과하였더라. 그가 영토의 백성에게서 은과 금을 착취하되, 모든 이에게서 저마다 그의 세액에 따라 하였으니, 그것을 파라오느코흐에게 주기 위함이었더라.
35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
36 ¶ 여호야킴이 통치하기 시작할 때 그는 이십오 세였더라. 그리고 그는 예루살렘에서 십일 년 동안 통치하였더라. 그리고 그의 어머니의 이름은 즈부다로, 루마 출신 프다야의 딸이었더라.
36 ¶ Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37 그리고 그는 그의 조상들이 행한 모든 것대로 주의 목전에 악한 것을 행하였더라.
37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
1) 동성애, 수간 등 소돔의 이상 성행위를 따르는 사람들에 대한 총칭.
