1 이때 시리아 왕의 군대 대장 나아만은 그의 주인 곁에서 위대하고 존귀한 남자였으니, 주께서 그를 통하여 시리아에 구출을 베푸셨기 때문이라. 그가 또한 막강한 용사였으나 그는 나병 환자였더라.
1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.
2 그런즉 시리아인들이 집단들별로 나갔다가 이스라엘 영토에서 어린 하녀를 포로로 데리고 돌아왔더라. 그리하여 그녀가 나아만 아내의 시중을 들었더라.
2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife.
3 그리고 그녀가 자신의 여주인에게 말하기를, “하나님께서 나의 주를 사마리아 안에 있는 예언자와 함께 있게 하신다면 좋겠나이다! 이는 그가 그분을 그분의 나병에서 회복시켰을 것이기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.
3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
4 그런즉 누군가 안으로 들어갔을 때 자신의 군주에게 알리며 말하기를, “이스라엘 지역 출신인 그 하녀가 이러이러하게 말하였나이다.” 하였더라.
4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5 이에 시리아 왕이 말하기를, “자, 가라. 그리하면 내가 이스라엘 왕에게 한 편지를 보내겠노라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 떠나 자신과 함께 은 십 달란트와 금화 육천 개와 갈아입을 의상들 열 벌을 챙겨 갔더라.
5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6 그리고 그가 이스라엘 왕에게 편지를 가져왔으니, 그 편지는 말하기를, “이제 이 편지가 당신에게 도착할 때면, 보소서, 내가 나의 종 나아만을 당신에게 이 편지와 함께 보냈나니, 당신으로 하여금 그를 그의 나병에서 회복시킬 수 있게 하려 함이니이다.” 하였더라.
6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.
7 그러자 이스라엘 왕이 그 편지를 읽었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 그의 옷을 찢으며 말하기를, “내가 죽이기도 하고 살리기도 하는 하나님이기에 이 사람이 사람을 그의 나병에서 회복시켜달라고 나에게 보내는 것이냐? 이러한 이유로 내가 너희에게 간구하노니, 그가 어떻게 나를 대적하여 시비를 걸고 있는지 보라.” 하였더라.
7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.
8 ¶ 이에 하나님의 사람 엘리사가 이스라엘 왕이 그의 옷을 찢었다는 것을 들었을 때 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 그가 왕에게 사람을 보내며 말하기를, “어찌 당신께서는 당신의 옷을 찢으셨나이까? 지금 그로 하여금 제게 오게 하소서. 그리하면 그가 이스라엘 안에 예언자가 있다는 것을 알리이다.” 하였더라.
8 ¶ And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
9 그렇게 하여 나아만이 그의 말들을 거느리고 그의 병거들을 대동한 채 와서 엘리사 집의 문에 섰더라.
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 그러자 엘리사가 한 전령을 그에게 보내며 말하기를, “가서 요르단강 속에서 일곱 번 씻으라. 그리하면 너의 살이 네게 다시 돌아오고 네가 정결해지리라.” 하였더라.
10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
11 그러나 나아만이 격노하여 떠나 버리며 이같이 말하였더라. “보라, 내가 생각하기를, ‘그가 분명히 나에게로 나와 서서 주 그의 하나님의 이름을 부르며 환부 위에 자기 손을 내리쳐서 나병 환자를 회복시키리라.’ 하였도다.
11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 다마스쿠스의 강들인 아바나와 파르팔이 이스라엘의 모든 물들보다 더 낫지 아니하냐? 내가 그것들 안에서 씻고 정결해질 수 있지 아니하냐?” 그렇게 하여 그가 분개한 가운데 돌이켜 떠나 버렸더라.
12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 그러자 그의 종들이 가까이 와서 그에게 고하여 말하기를, “나의 아버지여, 만일 그 예언자가 당신께 어떤 대단한 것을 하라고 분부하였다면 당신께서는 그것을 하려고 하지 아니하셨겠나이까? 그렇다면 하물며 그가 당신께 말하기를, ‘씻어서 정결해지라.’ 하는 때에는 얼마나 더 하겠나이까?” 하였더라.
13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
14 그때 그가 내려가서 요르단강 속에다 자신의 몸을 일곱 번 담갔으니, 하나님의 사람이 말한 대로 하였더라. 그러자 그의 살이 어린아이의 살처럼 돌아왔고 그가 정결해졌더라.
14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15 ¶ 그런즉 그가 하나님의 사람에게로 되돌아왔으니, 그와 그의 모든 일행이 함께 와서 그의 앞에 섰더라. 그러면서 그가 이같이 말하기를, “보소서, 제가 이제 이스라엘 말고는 온 땅에 하나님이 없다는 것을 아나이다. 그러므로 이제 제가 당신께 간구하오니, 당신의 종에게서 복된 선물을 받으소서.” 하였더라.
15 ¶ And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
16 그러나 그가 말하기를, “내가 그 앞에 서서 섬기는 주께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 아무것도 받지 아니하겠노라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그에게 그것을 받을 것을 강권하였더라. 그러나 그가 거부하였더라.
16 But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17 그런즉 나아만이 이같이 말하였더라. “제가 당신께 간구하오니, 그렇다면 당신의 종에게 두 노새들의 짐 만큼 흙이 주어져도 되겠나이까? 이는 당신의 종이 이제부터 다른 신들에게는 번제물을 바치지 아니하고, 희생 제물도 바치지 아니할 것이요, 오직 주께만 바칠 것이기 때문이니이다.
17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
18 이 점에 있어서는 주께서 당신의 종을 면죄해 주시기를 바라오니, 곧 나의 주인이 림몬의 집 안에서 경배하려고 거기로 들어가서 그가 저의 손을 의지하고 제가 림몬의 집 안에서 제 몸을 숙여 절하는 때이니이다. 제가 림몬의 집 안에서 제 몸을 아래로 숙여 절하는 때 이 점에 있어서는 주께서 당신의 종을 면죄해 주시기 바라나이다.”
18 In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.
19 이에 그가 나아만에게 말하기를, “평안히 가라.” 하였더라. 그렇게 하여 그가 그를 떠나 길을 조금 떠났더라.
19 And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
20 ¶ 그러나 하나님의 사람인 엘리사의 종 게하지가 말하기를, “보라, 나의 주인이 이 시리아인 나아만이 가져온 것을 그의 두 손에서 받지 아니함으로써 그를 봐주었도다. 그러나 주께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 내가 그를 쫓아 달려가 그에게서 무언가를 취하겠노라.” 하였더라.
20 ¶ But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
21 그렇게 하여 게하지가 나아만을 뒤따라갔더라. 이윽고 나아만이 자신을 쫓아 달려오는 그를 목격하였을 때 그가 그를 맞이하려고 병거에서 아래로 내리며 말하기를, “모두 잘 있느냐?” 하였더라.
21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?
22 그러자 그가 말하기를, “모두 잘 있나이다. 나의 주인이 저를 보내며 말하기를, ‘보라, 바로 지금 에프라임산에서부터 예언자들의 아들들인 청년 두 명이 나에게 와 있도다. 내가 당신에게 간구하노니, 그들에게 은 일 달란트와 갈아입을 의복들 두 벌을 달라.’ 하시나이다.” 하였더라.
22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
23 그러자 나아만이 말하기를, “만족하고 이 달란트를 받으라.” 하였더라. 그리고 그가 그에게 재촉하며 두 가방들 안에 은 이 달란트를 넣되, 두 벌의 갈아입을 의복들을 동봉하였으며 그것들을 그의 종들 중 두 사람에게 올려 놓았으니, 그들이 그것들을 그의 앞에서 지고 갔더라.
23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.
24 그리고 그가 망대에 다다랐을 때 그가 그들의 손에서 그것들을 취하여 집 안에다 그것들을 보관하였더라. 그리고 그가 그 남자들을 가게 하였으니, 그들이 떠났더라.
24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
25 그래도 그가 들어가서 그의 주인 앞에 섰더라. 그러자 엘리사가 그에게 말하기를, “게하지야, 네가 어디에서 오느냐?” 하였더라. 이에 그가 말하기를, “당신의 종은 아무 데도 가지 아니하였나이다.” 하였더라.
25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.
26 그러자 그가 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “그 남자가 자기 병거에서 너를 맞이하려고 다시 돌이켰을 때 내 마음이 너와 함께 가지 아니하였느냐? 지금이 돈을 받을 때며, 의복들과 올리브밭들과 포도원들과 양들과 소들과 남종들과 여종들을 받을 때냐?
26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
27 그러므로 나아만의 나병이 영원토록 너와 너의 씨에게 달라붙을 것이라.” 그러자 그가 그의 면전에서 눈처럼 하얀 나병 환자가 되어 나갔더라.
27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
