1 너는 매 칠 년의 끝에 면제를 베풀지니라.
1 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.
2 그런즉 그 면제의 방식은 이러하니라. 자기 이웃에게 조금이라도 빌려 준 모든 채권자마다 그것을 면제할지니라. 그는 자기 이웃에게나 자기 형제에게 그것을 독촉하지 말지니라. 이는 그것이 주의 면제라 불리는 까닭이라.
2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD'S release.
3 외국인에게는 네가 그것을 다시 독촉할 수 있느니라. 그러나 너의 형제 곁에 있는 너의 소유만은 너의 손이 면제할지니라.
3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
4 너희 가운데 가난한 자가 없을 때를 제외하고는 그리하라. 이는 주 너의 하나님께서 그곳을 차지하라고 너에게 유산으로 주시는 그 지역 가운데서 주께서는 너에게 대단히 큰 복을 주실 것이기 때문이라.
4 Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
5 오직 네가 세심하게 주 너의 하나님의 음성에 경청하고 내가 이날에 너에게 명령하는 이 모든 명령들을 준수하여 행한다면 그리하시리라.
5 Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day.
6 이는 주 너의 하나님께서 친히 너에게 약속하신 대로 너에게 복을 주시기 때문이라. 그리하면 네가 많은 민족들에게 빌려줄 것이나, 네가 빌리지는 아니하리라. 또 너는 많은 민족들 위에서 통치할 것이나 그들은 너의 위에서 통치하지 못하리라.
6 For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.
7 ¶ 만일 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 주시는 너의 지역 가운데 있는 너의 성문들 중 어떤 곳 안에서 너의 형제들 중 한 명인 가난한 사람이 너희 가운데 있다면, 너는 너의 마음을 완악하게 하지 말며, 너의 가난한 형제를 멀리하여 너의 손을 움켜쥐지 말지니라.
7 ¶ If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8 오히려 너는 그에게 너의 손을 넓게 펼지니, 반드시 그가 원하는 만큼 그의 필요에 따라 그에게 충분히 빌려줄지니라.
8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
9 너의 사악한 마음속에 한 생각이 있어 말하기를, ‘일곱째 해, 면제의 해가 가깝도다.’ 하지 않도록 경계하라. 또 너의 가난한 형제를 거슬러 너의 눈이 악하게 되어 그에게 아무것도 주지 않는 일이 없도록 경계하라. 그리하여 그가 너를 거슬러 주께 부르짖어 그것이 너에게 죄가 되지 않도록 경계하라.
9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
10 너는 반드시 그에게 줄지니, 네가 그에게 줄 때 너의 마음은 비통해하지 말지니라. 이는 이 점으로 인하여 주 너의 하나님께서 너의 모든 일들에 있어, 또 네가 너의 손을 대는 모든 것에 있어 너에게 복을 주실 것이기 때문이라.
10 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
11 이는 가난한 자가 그 지역에서 결코 그치지 아니할 것이기 때문이라. 그러므로 내가 너에게 명령하며 말하기를, ‘너는 너의 지역 가운데서 너의 형제에게와 너의 가난한 자에게와 너의 빈곤한 자에게 너의 손을 넓게 펼지니라.’ 하노라.
11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
12 ¶ 그런데 만일 너의 형제인 히브리인 남자나 히브리인 여자가 너에게 팔려서 육 년 동안 너를 섬긴 경우, 그때 너는 칠 년째 해에 그를 놓아주어 너에게서 자유롭게 떠나게 할지니라.
12 ¶ And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
13 그러고는 네가 그를 너에게서 자유롭게 보낼 때, 너는 그를 빈손으로 떠나게 하지 말지니라.
13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:
14 너는 너의 양 떼에서, 너의 마당에서, 너의 포도즙 틀에서 그에게 관대하게 제공할지니라. 너는 주 너의 하나님께서 너에게 복을 주신 것에서 그에게 줄지니라.
14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.
15 그리고 너는 네가 이집트 지역 가운데서 노예였던 것과 주 너의 하나님께서 너를 구속하신 것을 기억할지니라. 그러므로 내가 오늘 너에게 이것을 명령하노라.
15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.
16 그리고 이러한 일이 일어나리니, 만일 그가 너와 너의 집을 사랑하고, 그가 너의 곁에서 잘 지내는 까닭에 그가 너에게 말하기를, ‘저는 당신을 떠나가지 아니하겠나이다.’ 하는 경우,
16 And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
17 그때 너는 송곳 하나를 취하여 그의 귀를 문에 대고 그것으로 뚫을지니라. 그리하면 그가 계속하여 너의 종이 되리라. 그런즉 너는 너의 여종에게도 마찬가지로 그리할지니라.
17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.
18 네가 그를 너에게서 자유롭게 떠나 보낼 때면 그 일은 너에게 힘들게 보이지 않으리라. 이는 그가 육 년 동안 너를 섬기면서, 너에게 고용된 종의 두 배의 가치가 있었기 때문이라. 그렇게 하면 주 너의 하나님께서 네가 하는 모든 것에 있어서 너에게 복을 주시리라.
18 It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.
19 ¶ 너는 너의 소 떼에서와 너의 양 떼에서 나온 수컷 첫배 새끼들을 모두 주 너의 하나님께 성결하게 구별하여 드릴지니라. 너는 너의 수송아지의 첫배 새끼로는 어떤 일도 하지 말며, 너의 양의 첫배 새끼는 털을 깎지 말지니라.
19 ¶ All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the LORD thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep.
20 너는 주께서 선택하실 곳 안에서 해마다 그것을 주 너의 하나님 앞에서 먹을지니, 너와 너의 집안이 먹을지니라.
20 Thou shalt eat it before the LORD thy God year by year in the place which the LORD shall choose, thou and thy household.
21 그리고 만일 그 안에 어떤 흠이 있다면, 가령 그것이 절뚝거리거나 눈이 멀거나 흠이 되는 어떤 흉이 있다면 너는 그것을 주 너의 하나님께 희생 제물로 드리지 말지니라.
21 And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.
22 너는 너의 성문들 안에서 그것을 먹을지니라. 불결한 자와 정결한 개인이 똑같이 그것을 먹을지니, 마치 수노루같이, 또 수사슴같이 먹을지니라.
22 Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person shall eat it alike, as the roebuck, and as the hart.
23 너는 오직 그것의 피만은 먹지 말지니라. 너는 피를 물같이 지면 위에 쏟을지니라.
23 Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.
