1 이후에 모세가 온 이스라엘을 불러 그들에게 이같이 말하였더라. “오, 이스라엘아, 내가 이날에 너희의 귀에 전하는 규례들과 공의로운 법규들을 들으라. 이는 너희가 그것들을 배워서 지키고, 그것들을 실행하게 하려 함이라.

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

2 주 우리 하나님께서 호렙에서 우리와 더불어 언약을 맺으셨느니라.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3 주께서는 이 언약을 우리 조상들과 맺으신 것이 아니라, 오직 우리와 맺으셨나니, 바로 우리, 곧 이날에 여기 살아 있는 우리 모두와 맺으셨도다.

The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

4 주께서는 산속에 있는 불 한가운데서 너희와 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주하여 대화하셨느니라.

The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,

5 (내가 그때에 주와 너희 사이에 서서 주의 말씀을 너희에게 제시하였노라. 이는 너희가 불로 인해 무서워하여 그 산속으로 올라가지 아니하였기 때문이라.) 주께서 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

6 ¶ ‘나는 이집트 지역에서, 곧 속박의 집에서 너를 데리고 나온 주 너의 하나님이로다.

¶ I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

7 너는 내 앞에 다른 신들을 아무도 두지 말지니라.

Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

8 너는 어떠한 새겨진 형상도 너에게 만들어 두지 말지니, 위로 하늘에 있거나 아래로 땅에 있거나 땅 아래 물들 속에 있는 어떤 것과 같은 아무 모습도 만들지 말지니라.

Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

9 너는 그것들에 대고 너의 몸을 아래로 숙여 절하지 말지니, 그것들을 섬기지도 말지니라. 이는 나, 주 너의 하나님은 질투하는 한 하나님이요, 아버지들의 죄악을 벌하여 자식들 위에 영향을 끼치게 하고 나를 증오하는 자들의 삼대와 사대까지 이르게 하며

Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,

10 나를 사랑하고 나의 명령들을 지키는 자들의 수천 대까지 자비를 보여주기 때문이라.

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

11 너는 주 너의 하나님의 이름을 헛되이 취하지 말지니라. 이는 주가 자신의 이름을 헛되이 취하는 자를 죄과가 없다고 하지 않을 것이기 때문이라.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

12 주 너의 하나님이 너에게 명령한 대로 안식일을 지켜 그것을 성결하게 구별하라.

Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

13 너는 육 일 동안 수고하며 너의 모든 일을 행할지니라.

Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

14 그러나 일곱째 날은 주 너의 하나님의 안식일이라. 너는 그날에 어떤 일도 하지 말지니, 너도, 너의 아들도, 너의 딸도, 너의 남종도, 너의 여종도, 너의 소도, 너의 나귀도, 너의 가축들 중 어느 것도, 너의 성문들 안에 있는 너의 타국인도 일하지 말지니라. 이는 너의 남종과 너의 여종이 너와 마찬가지로 안식하게 하려 함이라.

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

15 그런즉 네가 이집트 지역 가운데서 종이었다는 것과 주 너의 하나님이 막강한 손을 통하여, 또 펼쳐진 팔로 거기서 너를 데리고 나왔다는 것을 기억하라. 그러므로 주 너의 하나님이 안식일을 지키라고 너에게 명령하였느니라.

And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

16주 너의 하나님이 너에게 명령한 대로 너의 아버지와 너의 어머니를 공경하라. 이는 너의 날들이 연장되게 하려 함이요, 주 너의 하나님이 너에게 주는 그 지역 가운데서 네가 잘되게 하려 함이라.

¶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

17 너는 살인하지 말지니라.

Thou shalt not kill.

18 너는 간음하지도 말지니라.

Neither shalt thou commit adultery.

19 너는 도둑질하지도 말지니라.

Neither shalt thou steal.

20 너는 너의 이웃을 대적하여 거짓 증거하지도 말지니라.

Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

21 너는 너의 이웃의 아내를 탐하지도 말지니, 너는 너의 이웃의 집이나 그의 밭이나 그의 남종이나 그의 여종이나 그의 소나 그의 나귀나 너의 이웃의 것인 어떤 것도 탐내지 말지니라.’

Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

22주께서 산속에 있는 불과 구름과 짙은 흑암 한가운데서 한 커다란 음성과 함께 너희의 온 집회에게 이 말씀들을 이르셨느니라. 이후에 그분께서는 그 이상 더하지 않으셨느니라. 그리고 그분께서 두 돌판들에 그것들을 기록하셨으며, 그것들을 나에게 전달하셨느니라.

¶ These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

23 그리고 너희가 흑암 한가운데서 그 음성을 들었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, (이는 산이 불탔기 때문이라.) 너희, 곧 너희 지파들의 모든 수장들과 너희 장로들이 나에게 가까이 나아왔도다.

And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;

24 그리고 너희가 이같이 말하였느니라. ‘보소서, 주 우리 하나님께서 그분의 영광과 그분의 위대하심을 우리에게 보이셨나니, 우리는 불 한가운데서 그분의 음성을 들었나이다. 우리는 이날에 하나님께서 사람과 대화하시는 것과 그분께서 살아 계시는 것을 목격하였나이다.

And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.

25 그러므로 이제 어찌하여 우리가 죽어야 하나이까? 이는 이 거대한 불이 우리를 사를 것이기 때문이니이다. 만일 우리가 주 우리 하나님의 음성을 더 이상 듣게 된다면 그때는 우리가 죽게 될 것이니이다.

Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

26 이는 모든 육체 가운데 누가, 우리가 들은 것과 같이 불 한가운데서 말씀하시는 살아 계신 하나님의 음성을 듣고 살아남았나이까?

For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

27 당신께서는 가까이 가시어 주 우리 하나님께서 말씀하실 모든 것을 들으소서. 그러고 나서 당신께서는 주 우리 하나님께서 당신께 말씀하실 모든 것을 우리에게 말씀하소서. 그리하면 우리가 그것을 듣고 그것을 실행하겠나이다.’

Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

28 그런즉 너희가 나에게 이야기하였을 때 주께서는 너희의 말들의 음성을 들으셨느니라. 이에 주께서 나에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. ‘이 백성이 너에게 이야기한 그들의 말들의 음성을 내가 들었노라. 그들은 자신들이 이야기한 모든 것을 잘 말하였도다.

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.

29 오, 그들 안에 이와 같은 마음이 있어 그들이 나를 두려워하고 나의 모든 명령들을 항상 지켜서 그들이 잘되고 그들의 자녀들도 영원토록 잘되기를 바라노라!

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

30 그들에게 가서 말하기를, ‘너희는 너희의 장막들 안으로 다시 들어가라.’ 하라.

Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.

31 그러나 너로 말하자면, 너는 여기 내 옆에 서라. 그리하면 네가 그들에게 가르쳐야 할 모든 명령들과 규례들과 공의로운 법규들을 내가 너에게 전하겠으니, 그들로 하여금 내가 그들에게 그곳을 차지하라고 주는 그 지역 가운데서 그것들을 실행하게 하려 함이라.’

But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.

32 그러므로 너희는 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 명령하신 대로 준수하여 행할지니라. 너희는 오른편이나 왼편으로 벗어나지 말지니라.

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

33 너희는 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 명령하신 모든 길들 가운데서 살아갈지니, 너희가 살게 하려 함이요, 너희가 잘되게 하려 함이요, 너희가 소유할 지역 가운데서 너희로 하여금 너희의 날들을 연장하게 하려 함이라.

Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
