1 나의 아들아, 나의 말들을 지키고 나의 명령들을 너에게 쌓아 두라.
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 나의 명령들을 지켜서 살라. 그리고 나의 법을 너의 눈동자처럼 지키라.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 그것들을 너의 손가락들에 묶어 두고 그것들을 너의 마음 판 위에 기록하라.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 지혜에게 말하기를, “너는 나의 누이라.” 하라. 그리고 명철을 너의 여자 친척이라 부르라.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
5 이는 그것들이 너를 타국 여자, 곧 그녀의 말들로 아첨하는 타국인으로부터 지킬 수 있게 하려 함이라.
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
6 ¶ 이는 내가 나의 집 창문에서 나의 창살을 통하여 내다보며
6 ¶ For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 우매한 이들 사이를 보았고, 내가 어린 청년들 가운데서 명철이 결여된 한 청년을 분별해 내었기 때문이니,
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 그가 그녀의 모퉁이에서 가까운 거리를 통과하며 그녀의 집을 향하여 길을 갔는데
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
9 때는 황혼이었고 저녁이 되어 캄캄하고 어두운 밤이었더라.
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 그런데 보라, 창녀의 차림새를 하고 간교한 마음을 지닌 여자가 그를 맞이하였더라.
10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 (그녀는 시끄럽고 완고하니라. 그녀의 두 발은 그녀의 집 안에 거하지 아니하느니라.
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 어떨 때는 그녀가 밖에 있고, 어떨 때는 거리들 가운데 있으며, 모든 모퉁이마다 숨어 기다리느니라.)
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 그렇게 하여 그녀가 그를 낚아채고 그에게 입을 맞추며 뻔뻔한 얼굴로 그에게 이같이 말하였더라.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
14 “나에게 화평 제물들이 있도다. 이날 내가 나의 서원들을 갚았노라.
14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
15 그러므로 내가 너를 만나기 위하여 나왔으니, 너의 얼굴을 부지런히 찾다가 내가 너를 발견하였노라.
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 내가 나의 침상을 색실로 짠 이불들과, 조각품들과, 이집트제 고운 아마포로 꾸몄도다.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
17 내가 몰약과 알로에와 시나몬으로 나의 침상을 향기롭게 하였도다.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 오라, 우리가 아침까지 사랑으로 우리를 가득 채우자. 우리가 사랑들로 서로를 위안하자.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 이는 바깥주인이 집에 없기 때문이니, 그가 긴 여정을 떠났노라.
19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 그는 돈 가방 하나를 자기 곁에 챙겼으니, 지정된 날에 가정으로 돌아오리라.”
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
21 그녀가 그녀의 그럴듯한 많은 이야기로 그를 굴복시켰으며, 그녀가 자기 입술의 아첨하는 말로 그를 강요하였도다.
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
22 그가 즉각 그녀를 따라가니, 마치 소가 도살장으로 가는 것 같고, 또는 어리석은 자가 교정을 받으려고 차꼬들을 차러 가는 것 같았도다.
22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 작은 화살이 마침내 그의 간을 꿰뚫으리니, 마치 새가 그의 생명을 노리는 것도 모르고 서둘러 올무에 들어가는 것 같도다.
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
24 ¶ 그러므로 오, 너희, 자녀들아, 이제 나에게 경청하고 나의 입의 말들에 집중하라.
24 ¶ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 너의 마음이 그녀의 길들로 기울지 않게 하고 그녀의 행로들 안으로 이탈하지 않게 하라.
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 이는 그녀가 많은 이들을 상처 내어 쓰러뜨렸기 때문이라. 진정 많은 강한 사람들이 그녀로 인하여 살해당하였느니라.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
27 그녀의 집은 지옥에 이르는 길이니, 죽음의 방실들로 내려가느니라.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
