1 그때에 여로보암의 아들 아비쟈가 병들었더라.

1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2 그리고 여로보암이 그의 아내에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 그대에게 간구하노니, 일어나서 그대가 여로보암의 아내인 것이 알려지지 아니하도록 스스로 변장하라. 그런 다음에 실로까지 이동하라. 보라, 거기에는 내가 이 백성을 다스리는 왕이 될 것이라고 나에게 알린 예언자 아히쟈가 있느니라.

2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

3 그런즉 그대 곁에 빵 덩이들 열 개와 바삭바삭한 과자들과 꿀단지 한 개를 챙겨 그에게로 가라. 그가 너에게 아이가 어떻게 될 것인지 알려주리라.”

3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

4 그리고 여로보암의 아내가 그렇게 하였으니, 일어나 실로에 가서 아히쟈의 집에 도착하였더라. 그러나 아히쟈가 보지 못하였으니, 그의 두 눈이 그의 노화로 굳어졌기 때문이라.

4 And Jeroboam's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 ¶ 그러자 주께서 아히쟈에게 말씀하시기를, “보라, 여로보암의 아내가 그녀의 아들로 인하여 너에게 한 가지를 물으려고 오는도다. 이는 그가 아프기 때문이라. 너는 그녀에게 이러이러하게 말할지니라. 이는 그녀가 들어올 때 이러한 일이 일어날 것이기 때문이니, 그녀가 자신을 다른 여자인 것처럼 꾸밀 것이라.” 하셨느니라.

5 ¶ And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

6 이윽고 아히쟈가 그녀가 문에서 들어오는 동안 그녀의 두 발소리를 들었을 때 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 곧 그가 이같이 말한 것이라. “너, 여로보암의 아내야, 들어오라. 어찌하여 네가 너 자신을 다른 사람인 것처럼 꾸미느냐? 이는 내가 엄중한 소식들을 가지고 너에게 보냄을 받았기 때문이라.

6 And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

7 가라. 여로보암에게 알리라. ‘이스라엘의 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 내가 너를 백성 가운데서 크게 높였고 너를 나의 백성 이스라엘을 다스리는 통치자로 삼았으므로

7 Go, tell Jeroboam, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee from among the people, and made thee prince over my people Israel,

8 다윗의 집에서부터 왕국을 찢어 내고 그것을 너에게 주었도다. 그런데도 불구하고 너는 나의 종 다윗같이 하지 아니하였으니, 그는 나의 명령들을 지켰고, 나의 눈들에 옳은 것만을 행하려고 그의 마음을 다하여 나를 따랐도다.

8 And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in mine eyes;

9 그러나 너는 너의 앞에 있던 모든 이들을 뛰어넘는 악을 행하였도다. 이는 네가 가서 다른 신들과 주조된 형상들을 너를 위하여 만들어 나에게 분노를 일으켰고, 나를 너의 등 뒤로 던져 버렸기 때문이라.

9 But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:

10 그러므로 보라, 내가 여로보암의 집 위에 해악을 가져오겠고, 벽에 오줌누는 자와 이스라엘 안에서 갇히고 남겨진 자를 여로보암에게서 끊어 버리겠으니, 마치 사람이 똥을 치워 버리듯이 여로보암의 집이 모두 없어질 때까지 그것의 남은 자를 제거하겠노라.

10 Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

11 여로보암에게 속한 자들 중에서 도시 안에서 죽는 자는 개들이 먹을 것이요, 들에서 죽는 자는 공중의 날짐승들이 먹을 것이라. 이는 주가 그것을 말하였기 때문이라.

11 Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat: for the LORD hath spoken it.

12 그러므로 너는 일어나 너 자신의 집으로 이동하라. 그리하면 너의 두 발이 도시 안에 진입할 때 그 아이가 죽으리라.

12 Arise thou therefore, get thee to thine own house: and when thy feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13 그리고 온 이스라엘이 그를 위하여 애곡하며 그를 장사하리라. 이는 여로보암의 집에서 이스라엘의 주 하나님을 향한 어떤 선한 것이 그의 안에 발견되었으므로 여로보암에 속한 자들 중에 오로지 그만 무덤에 이를 것이기 때문이라.

13 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him: for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.

14 이뿐만 아니라 주가 이스라엘을 다스리는 한 왕을 자신을 위하여 일으키리니, 그가 그날에 여로보암의 집을 끊어 버리리라. 그러나 어느 때냐? 바로 지금이라.

14 Moreover the LORD shall raise him up a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam that day: but what? even now.

15 이는 주가 이스라엘을 물속에서 흔들리는 갈대같이 치리니, 그가 이스라엘을 친히 그들의 조상들에게 준 이 좋은 지역에서 뿌리째 뽑을 것이요, 강 너머로 그들을 흩을 것이라. 이는 그들이 자기들의 작은 수풀들을 만들어서 주께 분노를 일으켰기 때문이라.

15 For the LORD shall smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves, provoking the LORD to anger.

16 그리고 그가 여로보암의 죄들 때문에 이스라엘을 버리리니, 그가 죄를 지었고, 이스라엘로 하여금 죄를 짓게 하였도다.’”

16 And he shall give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who did sin, and who made Israel to sin.

17 ¶ 그런 다음에 여로보암의 아내가 일어나서 떠나 티르자로 왔더니, 그녀가 문지방에 다다랐을 때 그 아이가 죽었더라.

17 ¶ And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;

18 그리하여 그들이 그를 장사하였더라. 그리고 그분께서 그분의 종 예언자 아히쟈의 손을 통하여 말씀하신 주의 말씀에 따라 이스라엘 전체가 그를 위하여 애곡하였더라.

18 And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by the hand of his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 그런즉 보라, 여로보암의 행적들 중 나머지, 곧 그가 어떻게 전쟁하였는지, 그가 어떻게 통치하였는지에 관한 것들은 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있느니라.

19 And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

20 그리고 여로보암이 통치한 날들은 이십이 년이었더라. 그리고 그가 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들어 그의 아들 나답이 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.

20 And the days which Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.

21 ¶ 그리고 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암은 유다에서 통치하였더라. 르호보암이 통치하기 시작하였을 때 그는 사십일 세였으니, 주께서 이스라엘의 모든 지파들에서 자신의 이름을 거기에 두려고 선택하신 도성인 예루살렘에서 그가 십칠 년을 통치하였더라. 그리고 그의 어머니는 암몬족 여인 나아마였더라.

21 ¶ And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

22 그런데 유다가 주의 목전에 악을 행하였더라. 그리고 그들은 자신들이 저지른 자신들의 죄들로 그분께 질투를 일으켰으니, 그들의 조상들이 행하였던 모든 것을 넘어섰더라.

22 And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23 이는 그들이 또한 모든 높은 언덕 위에 저마다, 또 모든 푸른 나무 아래에 저마다 높은 처소들과 형상들과 작은 수풀들을 자신들을 위해 지어 놓았기 때문이라.

23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.

24 그리고 그 지역에는 소돔족²들 또한 있었더라. 그런즉 그들이 주께서 이스라엘 자녀들 앞에서 쫓아내신 민족들의 모든 가증함들에 따라 행하였더라.

24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

25 ¶ 그리고 르호보암왕의 제오년에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 이집트 왕 시샥이 예루살렘을 대적하여 올라왔더라.

25 ¶ And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem:

26 그리하여 그가 주의 집의 보물들과 왕의 집의 보물들을 빼앗아 갔으니, 그가 심지어 다 빼앗아 갔더라. 그리고 그는 솔로몬이 만든 모든 금방패들을 빼앗아 갔더라.

26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

27 그러자 르호보암왕이 그것들을 대신하여 놋방패들을 만들어 그것들을 왕의 집 문을 지키는 경호대장의 두 손에 위임하였더라.

27 And king Rehoboam made in their stead brasen shields, and committed them unto the hands of the chief of the guard, which kept the door of the king's house.

28 그리고 왕이 주의 집 안으로 들어갈 때 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 경호대가 그것들을 들고 갔다가, 원래대로 그것들을 경호대 방실 안으로 가져왔더라.

28 And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

29 ¶ 이제 르호보암의 행적들 중 나머지와 그가 행한 모든 것, 그것들이 유다 왕들의 연대기들의 책 안에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?

29 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

30 그런즉 르호보암과 여로보암 사이에는 그들의 모든 날들 동안 전쟁이 있었더라.

30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days.

31 그리고 르호보암이 그의 조상들과 함께 잠들어 다윗의 도시 안에 그의 조상들과 함께 장사되었더라. 또 그의 어머니의 이름은 암몬족 여인인 나아마였더라. 그리고 그의 아들 아비얌이 그를 대신하여 통치하였더라.

31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.
