1 그리고 티레 왕 히람이 솔로몬에게 자기 종들을 보냈더라. 이는 그들이 그에게 기름을 부어 그의 아버지를 대신하여 왕으로 삼았다는 것을 그가 들었기 때문이요, 히람이 줄곧 다윗을 사랑하는 자였기 때문이라.
1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.
2 그러자 솔로몬이 히람에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하였더라.
2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
3 “나의 아버지 다윗이 자신의 주변 사면에 있던 전쟁들로 인하여 주께서 그들을 그의 두 발바닥 아래 두실 때까지 주 그의 하나님의 이름을 위하여 집을 건축할 수 없었다는 것을 당신이 아시나이다.
3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
4 그러나 이제 주 나의 하나님께서는 나에게 사면에 안식을 주셨기에 대적도 없고 악한 일도 일어나지 않나이다.
4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
5 그런즉 보소서, 내가 주 나의 하나님의 이름으로 한 집을 건축하기로 결단하오니, 주께서 나의 아버지 다윗에게 일러 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 너를 대신하여 너의 보좌 위에 세울 너의 아들, 그가 나의 이름을 위하여 집을 건축하리라.’ 하신 것과 같나이다.
5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
6 그러므로 이제 당신은 그들로 하여금 나에게 레바논에서 백향목들을 베어 주도록 명령하소서. 그리하면 나의 종들이 당신의 종들과 함께 있을 것이요, 내가 당신에게 당신이 지정한 모든 것대로 당신의 종들을 위한 임금을 주겠나이다. 이는 당신도 알다시피 우리 가운데는 시돈인들과 비견할 만큼 재목을 절단할 수 있는 기술이 있는 자가 없기 때문이니이다.”
6 Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
7 ¶ 그러자 히람이 솔로몬의 말들을 들었을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그가 대단히 크게 기뻐하여 말하기를, “다윗에게 이 크나큰 백성을 다스리는 지혜로운 아들을 주신 주께서 이날에 찬양받으시기를 바라나이다.” 하였더라.
7 ¶ And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
8 그리하여 히람이 솔로몬에게 사람을 보내며 이같이 말하였더라. “내가 당신이 나에게 보낸 것들을 숙고하였나이다. 그런즉 내가 백향목의 재목과 전나무의 재목에 관하여 당신의 희망 사항을 모두 행하겠나이다.
8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
9 나의 종들이 그것들을 레바논에서 바다로 가지고 내려갈 것이니이다. 그리하여 내가 바다를 통하여 당신이 나에게 지정한 장소까지 뗏목들로 그것들을 수송하겠으며, 거기서 그것들이 하선되도록 하겠으니, 당신은 그것들을 받을 것이니이다. 또 당신은 나의 집안사람들을 위한 양식을 주는 일에 있어서 나의 희망 사항을 이행할 것이니이다.”
9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
10 그렇게 하여 히람이 그의 모든 희망 사항에 따라 솔로몬에게 백향목들과 전나무들을 주었더라.
10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.
11 그리고 솔로몬은 히람에게 그의 집안사람들에게 주는 양식으로 이만 도량의 밀과 순수한 기름 이십 도량을 주었더라. 솔로몬이 해마다 히람에게 이와 같이 주었더라.
11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
12 그리고 주께서 친히 그에게 약속하신 대로 솔로몬에게 지혜를 주셨더라. 그런즉 히람과 솔로몬 사이에 화평이 있었으니, 그들 둘은 함께 한 맹약을 맺었더라.
12 And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
13 ¶ 그리하여 솔로몬왕이 온 이스라엘에서 동원 인력을 징발하였으니, 동원된 인력은 삼만 명의 장정들이었더라.
13 ¶ And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14 그리고 그가 그들을 한 달에 일만 명씩 계통별로 번갈아서 레바논으로 보냈으니, 그들이 한 달 동안은 레바논에 있었고 두 달 동안은 집에 있었더라. 그리고 아도니람이 동원 인력을 관리하였더라.
14 And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.
15 그리고 솔로몬은 짐들을 지고 나르는 자들 칠만 명을 두었고, 산들 속에는 팔만 명의 채석공들을 두었더라.
15 And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;
16 이외에도 공사를 관리하는, 솔로몬의 최고 관원들이 삼천삼백 명이었으니, 그들은 공사를 수행하는 백성을 다스렸더라.
16 Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
17 그리고 왕이 명령을 내렸더니 그들은 커다란 돌들과 값진 돌들과 절단된 돌들을 집의 기초를 놓기 위해 가져왔더라.
17 And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
18 그리하면 솔로몬의 건축자들과 히람의 건축자들이 그것들을 절단하였고 돌을 직각으로 깎는 자들이 그것들을 깎았더라. 그렇게 하여 그들이 집을 건축할 재목과 돌들을 예비하였더라.
18 And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
