1 이후에 유대에 있던 사도들과 형제들이 이방인들도 하나님의 말씀을 받아들였다는 것을 들었더라.
1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 그리고 베드로가 예루살렘으로 올라가자 할례자들에게 속한 자들이 그와 함께 쟁론하며
2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
3 말하기를, “너는 할례받지 아니한 사람들에게 들어가서 그들과 함께 먹었도다.” 하였더라.
3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
4 그러나 베드로가 그 사안을 시작부터 되풀이하여 말하고 그들에게 그것을 순서대로 자세히 설명하며 이같이 말하였더라.
4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
5 “나는 욥파 도시에서 기도하고 있었는데, 현시의 몰입 중에 내가 어떤 현시를 보았나니, 어떤 그릇 하나가 내려오는데 마치 그것은 거대한 보자기였던 것 같았으며 네 모퉁이에 의하여 하늘로부터 내려졌고 그것이 나에게까지 다다랐도다.
5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
6 내가 그것에 나의 두 눈을 고정시켰을 때 나는 숙고하였으니, 네발 달린 땅의 짐승들과 야생 짐승들과 기어다니는 것들과 공중의 날짐승들을 보았노라.
6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
7 그러고 나서 내가 나에게 말씀하시는 한 음성을 들었는데, ‘베드로야, 일어나서 도살하여 먹으라.’ 하셨느니라.
7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8 그러나 내가 말씀드리기를, ‘주여, 그럴 수 없나이다. 이는 어느 때에도 속되거나 불결한 것은 아무것도 제 입안으로 들어온 적이 없었기 때문이니이다.’ 하였느니라.
8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9 그러나 그 음성이 다시금 하늘에서부터 나에게 대답하시기를, ‘하나님께서 정결하게 하신 것을 네가 속되다고 부르지 말라.’ 하셨느니라.
9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10 그러고 나서 이 일이 세 번 이루어졌고, 모든 것이 다시금 하늘 속으로 끌려 올라갔느니라.
10 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 그런데 보라, 즉시 세 남자들이 내가 있던 그 집으로 이미 와 있었는데 카이사랴에서부터 나에게 보냄을 받은 자들이었느니라.
11 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
12 그리고 성령께서 나에게 아무것도 의심하지 말고 그들과 함께 가라고 분부하셨느니라. 더욱이 이 여섯 형제들이 나와 함께 길을 나섰으며 우리는 그 남자의 집 안으로 들어갔느니라.
12 And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:
13 그러자 그가 어떻게 자신이 그의 집 안에서 천사를 보았는지를 우리에게 보여주었느니라. 그 천사가 서서 그에게 이같이 말하였느니라. ‘욥파로 사람들을 보내서 베드로란 이명을 가진 시몬을 부르라.
13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14 그가 너에게 말씀들을 알려주리라. 그것으로 너와 너의 온 집이 구원을 받으리라.’
14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
15 그리하여 내가 전하기 시작하였을 때 성령님께서 그들에게 임하셨으니, 초기에 우리 위에 임한 것과 같았느니라.
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 그때 내가 주의 말씀을 기억하였으니 그분께서 말씀하시기를, ‘요한이 정녕 물로 침례를 주었으나 너희는 성령으로 침례를 받으리라.’ 하신 것이라.
16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 그때 하나님께서 친히 우리에게 주셨던 것같이 주 예수 그리스도를 믿은 그들에게도 같은 선물을 주셨으므로 내가 무엇이기에 내가 하나님께 대항할 수 있었겠느냐?”
17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 그들이 이런 것들을 들은 후에 그들은 자신들의 침묵을 지켰고 하나님을 영화롭게 하며 말하기를, “그렇다면 하나님께서 이방인들에게도 생명에 이르는 회개를 승인하셨도다.” 하였더라.
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
19 ¶ 이제 스데반에 대하여 일어난 박해로 말미암아 널리 흩어진 자들이 페니케와 사이프러스와 안티오크까지 여행하면서 오직 유대인들에게만 말씀을 선포하였고 그 외에는 아무에게도 말씀을 선포하지 아니하였더라.
19 ¶ Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
20 그런데 그들 중 일부가 사이프러스와 키레네 출신 사람들이었는데 그들이 안티오크에 도착하였을 때 그들이 헬라어를 말하는 사람들에게 전하며 주 예수를 선포하였더라.
20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 그러자 주의 손이 그들과 함께하였더라. 그리하여 엄청난 수가 믿었고 주께 돌이켰더라.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
22 ¶ 그때 이런 일들에 관한 소식들이 예루살렘에 있던 교회의 귀에 들어갔더라. 그리하여 그들이 바나바를 파송하여 그가 안티오크까지 가도록 하였더라.
22 ¶ Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
23 그가 와서 하나님의 은혜를 목격하였을 때 그는 흡족하였으니, 그들 모두에게 마음의 결단과 더불어 그들이 주께 밀착할 것을 권면하였더라.
23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
24 이는 그가 선한 사람이요, 성령님으로 또 믿음으로 충만하였기 때문이라. 그리하여 많은 이들이 주께 더하여졌더라.
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 그때 바나바가 타르수스로 떠났으니 사울을 찾기 위해서였더라.
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 그리고 그가 그를 발견하였을 때 그가 그를 안티오크로 데려왔더라. 그러자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 일 년 내내 그들이 스스로 교회와 더불어 모였고 많은 이들을 가르쳤더라. 그리하여 제자들이 안티오크에서 처음으로 그리스도인들이라고 불렸더라.
26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 ¶ 그리고 이 즈음에 예루살렘에서 안티오크로 예언자들이 왔더라.
27 ¶ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 그리고 그들 중 아가부스란 이름으로 불리는 한 명이 일어섰는데 온 세상에 걸쳐 심한 흉년이 있을 것을 성령을 통하여 알렸더라. 그 흉년은 클라우디우스 카이사르의 날들에 있었더라.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 그때 제자들이 저마다 자기 재량에 따라 유대에 거하던 형제들에게 구호금을 보내기로 결정하였더라.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 그것 역시 그들이 실행하였으니, 바나바와 사울의 손을 통하여 그것을 장로들에게 보냈더라.
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
