1 이제 안티오크에 있던 교회 안에 어떤 예언자들과 선생들이 있었으니, 곧 바나바와 니게르라 불린 시므온과 키레네의 루키우스와 분봉왕 헤롯과 함께 육성된 자인 마나엔과 사울이라.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 그들이 주를 섬기고 금식하는 동안 성령님께서 말씀하시기를, “내가 바나바와 사울을 불러서 시킨 일을 위하여 그들을 나에게 성별시키라.” 하셨느니라.

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 그리하여 그들이 금식하고 기도한 후에 그들의 두 손으로 그들에게 안수하였고 그들이 그들을 멀리 보냈더라.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 ¶ 그렇게 해서 성령님에 의하여 파송받은 그들은 셀루키아로 떠났고 거기서부터 그들이 사이프러스로 항해하였더라.

¶ So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 그리고 그들이 살라미스에 당도한 후에 그들은 유대인들의 회당 안에서 하나님의 말씀을 선포하였더라. 그리고 그들이 또한 요한을 그들을 섬기는 자로 두었더라.

And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

6 그리고 그들이 파포스에 이르기까지 그 섬을 두루 다녔을 때 어떤 마법사이자 거짓 예언자인 유대인을 그들이 발견하였는데, 그의 이름은 바예수였더라.

And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

7 그 지방의 속주 총독인 세르기우스 파울루스라는 신중한 남자가 그와 함께 있었는데 그는 바나바와 사울을 초청하였고 하나님의 말씀 듣기를 열망하였더라.

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

8 그러나 그 마법사 엘루마스는 (이는 그의 이름이 해석에 의하면 그러하기 때문이라.) 그들을 대항하며 그 속주 총독을 믿음에서 돌아서게 하려고 하였더라.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

9 그때 사울이 (그는 또한 바울이라고 불리니라.) 성령님으로 충만해져서 그의 두 눈을 그에게 고정하여

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

10 이같이 말하였더라. “오, 모든 간교함과 모든 해로움으로 가득한 너, 마귀의 자식아, 너, 모든 의의 원수야, 네가 주의 옳은 길들을 삐뚤게 하기를 중단하지 아니하겠느냐?

And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 그리고 이제 보라, 주의 손이 네 위에 있으니, 너는 눈이 멀어 한동안 해를 보지 못하리라.” 그러자 즉시 그에게 어떤 연무와 어둠이 임하였더라. 그리하여 그가 자신을 손으로 잡고 이끌어 줄 누군가를 찾으면서 돌아다녔더라.

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 그때 그 속주 총독이 이루어진 일을 목격하자, 그는 주의 교리에 깜짝 놀라며 믿었더라.

Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 이제 바울과 그의 일행이 파포스로부터 벗어나자 그들이 팜필리아에 있는 페르가에 이르렀더라. 그러자 요한은 그들에게서 떠나 예루살렘으로 되돌아갔더라.

Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

14 ¶ 그러나 그들이 페르가를 떠난 후에 그들은 피시디아의 안티오크에 이르러 안식일에 회당 안으로 가서 앉았더라.

¶ But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 그리고 율법과 예언서들을 읽은 후에 회당의 치리자들이 그들에게 사람을 보내어 말하기를, “너희, 남자 형제들아, 만일 너희가 백성을 위하여 어떠한 권면의 말이 있다면 말하라.” 하였더라.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 그때 바울이 일어서서 그의 손으로 신호를 보내며 이같이 말하였더라. “이스라엘의 남자들아, 그리고 하나님을 두려워하는 너희들아, 귀 기울여 들으라.

Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 이 이스라엘 백성의 하나님께서 우리의 조상들을 선택하셨고 그들이 타국인들로서 이집트 지역 가운데 거하던 때에 그 백성을 크게 높이셨고 그분께서 높으신 팔로 그들을 그곳에서 데리고 나오셨도다.

The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

18 그리고 그분께서 약 사십 년의 시간 동안 광야 가운데서 그들의 언행들을 감내하셨느니라.

And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 그리고 그분께서는 카나안 지역 가운데서 일곱 민족을 멸망시키신 후에 친히 그들의 지역을 그들에게 제비로 나누어 주셨느니라.

And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

20 그리고 그 뒤에 그분께서 예언자 사무엘까지 약 사백오십 년의 기간 동안 그들에게 판관들을 주셨느니라.

And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

21 그리고 그 뒤로 그들이 왕을 갈구하였으니 하나님께서 그들에게 베냐민 지파 출신의 사람인, 키스의 아들 사울을 사십 년의 기간 동안 주셨느니라.

And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

22 그리고 그분께서 그를 폐하신 후에 친히 그들의 왕으로 다윗을 그들에게 일으켜 세워 주셨느니라. 또한 그에 대하여 친히 증언을 주어 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 이새의 아들 다윗을 발견하였으니, 나 자신의 마음에 맞는 사람으로 그가 나의 모든 뜻을 성취하리라.’ 하셨느니라.

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

23 하나님께서 자신의 약속에 따라 이 남자의 씨로부터 이스라엘에게 한 구원자이신 예수님을 일으키셨느니라.

Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

24 곧, 요한이 그분의 오심에 앞서 이스라엘의 모든 백성에게 처음 회개의 침례를 선포하였을 때라.

When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 그리고 요한이 그의 달려갈 길을 마쳤을 때 그가 말하기를, ‘너희는 내가 누구라고 생각하느냐? 나는 그분이 아니라. 그러나 보라, 내 뒤를 이어서 한 분이 오시나니, 나는 그분의 두 발에서 신발들을 풀 자격도 없느니라.’ 하였느니라.

And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

26 남자 형제들아, 아브라함의 계통에 속한 자녀들아, 그리고 누구든지 너희 가운데 하나님을 두려워하는 자들아, 이 구원의 말씀이 너희에게 보내졌도다.

Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 이는 그들이 그분을 몰랐고 아직까지 안식일마다 낭독되는 예언자들의 음성들도 몰랐으므로 예루살렘에 거하는 자들과 그들의 치리자들인 그들이 그분을 정죄함에 있어 그것들을 성취하였기 때문이라.

For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

28 그리고 비록 그들이 그분 안에서 죽어야 할 까닭을 전혀 발견하지 못하였음에도 그들이 여전히 빌라도에게 그분이 살해되게 해 달라고 갈구하였느니라.

And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

29 그리하여 그들이 그분에 관하여 기록된 것들을 모두 성취한 후에 그들은 그분을 그 나무에서 내려 돌무덤 안에 그분을 안치하였느니라.

And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

30 그러나 하나님께서는 죽은 자들로부터 그분을 일으키셨느니라.

But God raised him from the dead:

31 그리고 그분께서 자신과 함께 갈릴리에서 예루살렘으로 올라갔던 자들 가운데서 많은 날들을 보이셨으니, 그들은 백성을 향한 그분의 증인들이라.

And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

32 그런즉 우리가 너희에게 반가운 소식들을 선포하니, 조상들에게 제정된 그 약속,

And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

33 바로 그것을 하나님께서 그들의 자녀들인 우리에게 성취하셨으니, 그분께서 다시 예수님을 일으켜 세우신 점에서 그러하니라. 두 번째 시편에 기록된 바와도 같으니, ‘너는 나의 아들이라. 이날에 내가 너를 낳았도다.’ 함이라.

God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 그런즉 하나님께서 그분을 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜 세우신 것과 이제 더 이상 부패함으로 되돌아가지 아니할 것에 관해서는 그분께서 이런 식으로 말씀하셨으니, ‘내가 너희에게 다윗의 확실한 자비들을 주겠노라.’ 하신 것이라.

And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

35 이러한 이유로 그분께서 또 다른 시편에서도 말씀하시기를, ‘당신께서 당신의 거룩하신 분이 부패함을 보도록 내버려 두지 않으시리라.’ 하셨느니라.

Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

36 이는 다윗이 하나님의 뜻에 의하여 자기 자신의 세대를 섬긴 뒤에 고이 잠들었으며 그의 조상들에게로 눕혀졌고 부패함을 보았기 때문이라.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 그러나 하나님께서 다시 일으키신 그분은 부패함을 전혀 보지 아니하셨느니라.

But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

38 ¶ 그러므로 남자 형제들아, 너희에게 이것이 알려질지니, 이 사람을 통하여 너희에게 죄들의 용서함이 선포되었다는 것과

¶ Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

39 그분에 의하여 너희가 모세의 율법으로는 정당함을 입증받을 수 없었던 모든 일들에서 믿는 자들 모두가 정당함을 입증받았다는 것이라.

And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 그러므로 예언서들 안에서 언급된 것이 너희에게 임하지 아니하도록 경계하라.

Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

41 보라, 너희, 멸시하는 자들아, 이상하게 여기고 멸망하라. 이는 내가 너희의 날들에 한 일을 수행하기 때문이니, 비록 한 사람이 그것을 너희에게 선언하여도 너희가 절대 믿지 아니할 한 가지 일이라.”

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

42 그리고 유대인들이 회당에서 나가자 이방인들은 이 말씀들이 다음 안식일에도 자신들에게 선포되게 해달라고 간청하였더라.

And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

43 이제 회중이 파하여졌을 때 유대인들과 종교적인 유대교 개종자들 중 많은 이들이 바울과 바나바를 따랐더라. 두 사람은 그들에게 전하며 하나님의 은혜 안에서 계속 있을 것을 그들에게 설득하였더라.

Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 ¶ 그리고 다음 안식일에 거의 도시 전체가 하나님의 말씀을 들으려고 함께 나아왔더라.

¶ And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

45 그러나 유대인들이 그 무리들을 보자 그들은 시기로 가득 차서 바울에 의하여 언급된 그런 것들을 대적하여 반박하고 신성 모독을 하며 말하였더라.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

46 그때 바울과 바나바가 담대해져 이같이 말하였더라. “하나님의 말씀이 먼저 너희에게 전해져야 하는 일이 필요했으나 보라, 너희가 그것을 너희에게서 내버리고 스스로 영원한 생명에 합당하지 아니하다고 판단하므로 우리가 이방인들에게로 돌이키노라.

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

47 이는 주께서 우리에게 그렇게 명령하며 말씀하시기를, ‘내가 너를 이방인들의 빛이 되도록 세웠으니, 네가 땅의 끝들에까지 구원을 위한 빛이 되도록 하려는 것이라.’ 하셨기 때문이라.”

For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 그리하여 이방인들이 그것을 듣자 그들은 반겼고 주의 말씀을 영화롭게 하였더라. 그리고 영생에 이르도록 정해진 자들은 다 믿었더라.

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

49 그리하여 주의 말씀이 온 구역에 걸쳐 공표되었더라.

And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

50 그러나 유대인들이 독실하고 명망 있는 여자들과 도시의 최고위층 남자들을 충동질하였으며 바울과 바나바를 대적하는 박해를 일으켰고 그들의 변경들에서 그들을 추방하였더라.

But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

51 그러나 그들은 저들을 거슬러 그들의 발에서 티끌을 떨어 버리고 이코니움으로 왔더라.

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 그러자 제자들이 즐거움으로 그리고 성령님으로 충만해졌더라.

And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
