1 그러고 나서 오 일 후에 대제사장 아나니아가 장로들과 함께 그리고 터툴루스란 이름으로 불리는 어떤 연설가 한 명과 함께 내려왔으니, 그는 바울을 대적하여 총독에게 고하였더라.
1 And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.
2 이에 바울이 불려 나오자 터툴루스는 그를 고소하기 시작하며 이같이 말하였더라. “당신으로 인하여 우리가 크나큰 평온을 누리고, 당신의 선견에 의하여 이 민족에게 매우 훌륭한 위업들이 이루어졌으므로
2 And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,
3 지극히 고귀하신 펠릭스여, 우리는 그것을 언제나 그리고 모든 곳들에서 모든 감사함으로 기꺼이 받아들이나이다.
3 We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
4 그렇다 할지라도 제가 당신을 더 지루하게 하지 않기를 바라오니, 당신의 관대한 처사로 우리의 몇 마디 말들을 들어주십사 제가 당신께 간구하나이다.
4 Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.
5 이는 우리는 이 남자가 역병 같은 사내요, 세상 도처에 있는 모든 유대인들 사이에서 벌어지는 폭동의 주동자요, 나사렛인들 종파의 두목임을 발견하였기 때문이옵니다.
5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
6 그가 또한 성전을 속되게 하려고 돌아다녔나이다. 그를 우리가 붙잡았고 우리의 법에 따라 재판하고자 하였나이다.
6 Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.
7 그러나 총대장 루시아스가 우리에게 왔는데 엄청난 무력을 동원하여 그를 우리의 손에서 데려가 버렸고
7 But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,
8 그의 고소자들에게 당신께로 올 것을 명령하였나이다. 우리가 무엇에 관하여 그를 고소하는지 이 모든 것들에 관해서는 친히 그를 심문하심으로써 아실 수 있으리이다.”
8 Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.
9 그러자 유대인들도 찬동하며 이런 일들이 그러하다고 말하였더라.
9 And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
10 그때 총독이 바울에게 말하라고 신호를 보낸 뒤에 그가 대답하였더라. “당신께서 수년간 이 민족에게 판관이 되신 것을 제가 알기에 제가 더욱 흔쾌히 저를 대변하여 답하겠나이다.
10 Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
11 이는 제가 예루살렘에 경배하러 올라간 지 아직 십이 일밖에 되지 않았음을 당신께서 이해하실 수 있기 때문이니이다.
11 Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
12 그리고 그들은 또한 제가 성전 안에서 어떤 사람과 논박하는 것도 회당들 안에서나 도시 안에서나 백성을 들고일어나게 하는 것을 발견하지 못하였나이다.
12 And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
13 또한 그들은 자신들이 지금 저를 고소하는 것을 입증할 수도 없나이다.
13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
14 그러나 제가 당신께 이것을 고백하오니, 그들이 이단이라고 부르는 그 길을 따라 저는 나의 조상들의 하나님을 그와 같이 경배하며 율법과 예언서들 안에 기록된 것들을 모두 믿나이다.
14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
15 그런즉 하나님을 향한 소망을 지녔으니, 그것은 그들 스스로도 수용하는 것으로, 죽은 자들의 부활, 곧 의인들의 부활과 부정한 자들의 부활이 모두 있게 되리라는 것이니이다.
15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
16 그리고 그 안에서 제가 항상 하나님께 대하여 그리고 사람들에 대하여 범죄함 없는 양심을 지니도록 스스로 힘쓰나이다.
16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
17 수년 후인 지금 제가 저의 민족에게 자선 기금과 제물들을 가져왔나이다.
17 Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
18 그 가운데 아시아에서 온 어떤 유대인들이 성전 안에서 정화된 저를 발견하였는데 무리와 함께 있었던 것도 아니었고, 소란이 있었던 것도 아니었나이다.
18 Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
19 만일 그들이 조금이라도 저를 반대하는 것이 있었다면 그들은 마땅히 여기 당신 앞에 와서 항의했어야 하나이다.
19 Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.
20 그런데 그렇지 않고 만일 그들이 제 안에서 어떤 악한 짓들을 발견하였다면 제가 공회 앞에 서 있는 동안 이들로 하여금 여기서 똑같이 말하게 하소서.
20 Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
21 단지 제가 그들 사이에 서서 외친 것은, ‘죽은 자들의 부활과 관련하여 내가 이날에 너희에게 불려 나와 심문을 받노라.’ 한 이 한 목소리 외에는 없나이다.”
21 Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
22 이에 펠릭스가 이런 것들을 듣자 그 길에 관하여 더 완전한 지식이 있었으므로 그는 그것들을 연기하며 말하기를, “총대장 루시아스가 내려오면 내가 너희 사안에 관하여 최대한 알아내리라.” 하였더라.
22 And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
23 그런 다음에 그는 백부장에게 바울을 지키게 하였고 그가 자유를 누리게 하도록 명령하였으며, 그의 친지 중에 그를 섬기려 하거나 나아오려고 하는 자는 누구도 금하지 말라고 하였더라.
23 And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
24 그러고 나서 며칠 뒤에 펠릭스가 유대 여인인 그의 아내 드루실라와 함께 오자 그는 바울을 불러오게 하였고 그리스도에 대한 믿음에 관하여 그의 말을 들었더라.
24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
25 그리하여 의와 절제와 다가올 심판에 관하여 그가 논증하는 동안 펠릭스는 떨며 대답하기를, “이번에는 너의 길을 가라. 내가 적절한 시기를 얻을 때면 내가 너를 부르겠노라.” 하였더라.
25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
26 그는 또한 바울로부터 자신에게 돈이 주어지기를 소망하였으니, 자신이 그를 풀어주려 함이었더라. 이러한 이유로 그는 그를 더 자주 불러오게 하였고 그와 대화를 하였더라.
26 He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
27 그러나 이 년 뒤에 포르키우스 페스투스가 펠릭스 대신 부임하였고, 펠릭스는 유대인들에게 환심을 살 의향으로 바울을 구속한 채로 두었더라.
27 But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
