1 이후에 주께서 모세에게와 아론에게 일러 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

2 “이스라엘 자녀들에게 이같이 일러 말하라. ‘이것들이 땅 위에 있는 모든 짐승들 가운데 너희가 먹을 짐승들이라.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

3 짐승들 가운데 발굽이 갈라져 쪽발이며 되새김질하는 것은 무엇이나 너희가 그것을 먹을지니라.

Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

4 그럼에도 불구하고 이것들이 되새김질하는 것들이나 발굽이 나누어진 것들 중에서도 너희가 먹지 말아야 할 것들이라. 곧, 낙타와 같은 것이니, 그는 되새김질은 하지만 발굽이 나누어지지 않은 까닭이라. 그는 너희에게 불결하니라.

Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

5 다음으로 토끼라. 이는 그가 되새김질은 하지만 발굽이 나누어지지 않은 까닭이라. 그는 너희에게 불결하니라.

And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

6 다음으로 산토끼라. 이는 그가 되새김질은 하지만 발굽이 나누어지지 않은 까닭이라. 그는 너희에게 불결하니라.

And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

7 다음으로 돼지라. 비록 그가 발굽이 나누어져서 쪽발이지만 그럼에도 그는 되새김질을 하지 않느니라. 그는 너희에게 불결하니라.

And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

8 너희는 그것들의 고기를 먹지 말지니, 그것들의 사체도 너희는 만지지 말지니라. 그것들은 너희에게 불결하니라.

Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

9 ¶ 이것들은 물들 속에 있는 모든 것 중에서 너희가 먹을 것이라. 물들 속에, 곧 바다들 속과 강들 속에 있으며 지느러미들과 비늘들이 있는 것은 무엇이나, 그것들을 너희가 먹을지니라.

¶ These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 그런즉 바다들 속에 있고 강들 속에 있으면서 지느러미들과 비늘들이 없는 모든 것, 곧 물들 속에서 움직이는 모든 것에 속하며, 물들 속에 있는 어떤 생명체에라도 속하는 것, 그것들은 너희에게 가증함이 되리라.

And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

11 그것들은 곧 너희에게 가증함이 되리라. 너희는 그것들의 고기를 먹지 말지니, 오히려 너희는 그것들의 사체들을 가증함으로 여길지니라.

They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

12 물들 속에 있으며 지느러미들과 비늘들이 없는 것은 무엇이나 너희에게 가증함이 되리라.

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

13 ¶ 다음으로 이것들은 날짐승들 중에서 너희가 가증함으로 여겨야 할 것이라. 그것들은 섭취되어서는 아니 되나니, 그것들은 가증함이라. 곧, 독수리와 수염수리와 물수리요,

¶ And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

14 대머리수리와, 그의 종류에 따른 솔개요,

And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;

15 그의 종류에 따른 각종 모든 까마귀요,

Every raven after his kind;

16 올빼미와 쏙독새와 뻐꾸기와, 그의 종류에 따른 매요,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

17 작은 올빼미와 가마우지와 큰 올빼미요,

And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

18 백조와 펠리컨과 독취요,

And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,

19 황새와, 그녀의 종류에 따른 왜가리와, 댕기물떼새와 박쥐라.

And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

20 네 개의 발을 다 사용하여 기어다니는 모든 날짐승들은 너희에게 가증함이 되리라.

All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

21 그럼에도 그것들의 발들 위에 다리들이 있어 그것으로 땅 위에서 뛰어오르고, 네 개의 발을 다 사용하여 기어다니며 날아다니는 각종 모든 것 중에서 너희가 먹을 수 있는 것은 이것들이라.

Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;

22 바로 이것들이 너희가 먹을 수 있는 것들에 속하니라. 그의 종류에 따른 메뚜기요, 그의 종류에 따른 대머리 메뚜기요, 그의 종류에 따른 딱정벌레요, 그의 종류에 따른 풀무치라.

Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.

23 그러나 네 개의 발을 가졌는데 날아다니며 기어다니는 다른 모든 것은 너희에게 가증함이 되리라.

But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

24 그런즉 이런 것들로 인하여 너희는 불결하리라. 누구든지 그것들의 사체를 만지는 자는 저녁때까지 불결하리라.

And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.

25 그리고 그것들의 사체의 일부라도 옮기는 자는 누구나 자신의 옷을 빨지니, 저녁때까지 불결하리라.

And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

26 발굽이 나누어진 각종 모든 짐승 중에서 쪽발이 아닌 것이나 되새김질하지 않는 것의 사체들은 너희에게 불결하니라. 그것들을 만지는 모든 자마다 불결하리라.

The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.

27 그리고 네발을 다 사용하는 모든 종류의 짐승들 중에서 그의 발바닥들로 다니는 것들은 무엇이나 너희에게 불결하니, 그것들의 사체를 만지는 자는 누구나 저녁까지 불결하리라.

And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

28 그런즉 그것들의 사체를 옮기는 자는 자기 옷을 빨지니, 저녁때까지 불결하리라. 그것들은 너희에게 불결하니라.

And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

29 ¶ 또한 이것들은 기어다니는 것들, 곧 땅 위를 기어다니는 것들 중에서 너희에게 불결하리라. 곧, 족제비와 쥐와, 거북이와 그의 종류요,

¶ These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

30 긴털족제비와 카멜레온과 도마뱀과 달팽이와 두더지라.

And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

31 이것들은 기어다니는 모든 것 중에서 너희에게 불결한 것들이라. 그것들이 죽었을 때 그것들을 만지는 자는 누구든지 저녁때까지 불결하리라.

These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.

32 또한 그것들이 죽었을 때 그것들 중 어느 것이 그 위로 떨어지는 것은 무엇이나 그것이 불결하리라. 그것이 어떤 목기나 의상이나 피부나 자루든지 간에 그것이 무슨 그릇이 되었든지, 그것이 어떤 일에 쓰이든지 그것은 반드시 물속에 담겨야 하느니라. 그리하면 그것이 저녁때까지 불결하리라. 그것은 그와 같이 정결해져야 하느니라.

And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.

33 그리고 그것들 중에서 어떤 것이라도 그 안으로 떨어지면 모든 질그릇마다 그 안에 있는 것은 무엇이든지 불결하리라. 그런즉 너희는 그 그릇을 깨뜨릴지니라.

And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

34 섭취될 수 있는 모든 음식 중에서 그러한 물이 스며든 것은 불결하리라. 그리고 그와 같은 각종 모든 그릇 안에 있고 마시게 될 수 있는 모든 음료도 불결하리라.

Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

35 그리고 그것들의 사체 중 어떤 부위가 그 위로 떨어지는 모든 사물마다 불결하리라. 그것이 화덕이든지, 솥들을 놓는 가열대들이든지 간에 그것들은 부수어져야 하느니라. 이는 그것들은 불결하며, 너희에게 불결할 것이기 때문이라.

And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.

36 그럼에도 불구하고 그 안에 다량의 물이 있는, 수원지나 구렁은 정결하리라. 다만 그것들의 사체에 닿는 것은 불결하리라.

Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

37 또한 만일 그것들의 사체 중 어떤 부위가, 뿌려지기 위해 예비된 어떤 뿌리는 씨앗 위에 떨어지면 그것은 정결하리라.

And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.

38 그러나 어떤 물이 씨 위에 묻게 되고 그것들의 사체 중 어떤 부위가 그 위에 떨어진다면 그것은 너희에게 불결하리라.

But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

39 그리고 만일 너희가 먹을 수 있는 어떤 짐승이 죽었는데 그것의 사체에 닿는 자는 저녁때까지 불결하리라.

And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

40 그리고 그것의 사체를 먹는 자는 자기 옷을 빨 것이요, 저녁때까지 불결하리라. 그것의 사체를 짊어지는 자도 자기 옷을 빨 것이요, 저녁때까지 불결하리라.

And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

41 그리고 기어다니는 것, 곧 땅 위에 기어다니는 모든 것마다 가증함이 되리라. 그것이 섭취되어서는 아니 되느니라.

And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

42 무엇이나 배로 기어다니는 것과 무엇이나 네발로 다니는 것과 무엇이나 기어다니는 모든 것들, 곧 땅 위를 기어다니는 것들 사이에서 발이 더 많이 달려 있는 것들은 너희가 먹지 말지니라. 이는 그것들이 가증함이기 때문이라.

Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

43 너희는 기어다니는 것, 곧 어떤 기어다니는 것으로 스스로를 가증하게 만들지 말지니라. 또한 너희는 그것들로 스스로를 불결하게 하지 말지니, 너희로 하여금 그것들로 더럽혀지지 않게 하려 함이라.

Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.

44 이는 내가 주 너희의 하나님이기 때문이라. 그러므로 너희는 스스로를 성결하게 구별할지니, 너희는 거룩할지니라. 이는 내가 거룩하기 때문이라. 너희는 어떤 부류의 기어다니는 것, 곧 땅 위를 기어다니는 것으로 스스로를 더럽히지 말지니라.

For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

45 이는 내가 너희의 하나님이 되고자 너희를 이집트 지역에서 데리고 올라오는 주이기 때문이라. 그러므로 내가 거룩하니, 너희도 거룩할지니라.

For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 이것은 짐승들에 관한 법이요, 날짐승에 관한 법이요, 물들 속에서 움직이면서 살아 있는 각종 모든 창조물에 관한 법이요, 땅 위를 기어다니는 각종 모든 창조물에 관한 법이니,

This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

47 불결한 것들과 정결한 것들 사이에, 또 섭취될 수 있는 짐승과 섭취될 수 없는 짐승 사이에 차이를 두기 위함이라.’”

To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
