1 바리새파 사람들 역시 사두개파 사람들과 함께 왔고 그분을 시험하며 그분께서 하늘로부터 오는 표적을 자신들에게 보여 주시기를 요구하였더라.

1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 그분께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “저녁이면 너희가 말하기를, ‘창공이 붉으므로 맑은 날씨가 되겠구나.’ 하느니라.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 그리고 아침에는, ‘창공이 붉고 매우 흐리므로 오늘은 궂은 날씨가 되겠구나.’ 하는도다. 오, 너희, 위선자들아, 너희가 창공의 현상은 분별할 수 있어도 너희가 시대들의 표적들은 분별할 수 없느냐?

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 사악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 예언자 요-나의 표적 말고는 그 세대에게 아무 표적도 주어지지 않으리라.” 그러고는 그분께서는 그들을 남겨 두고 떠나가셨더라.

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5 그러고 나서 그분의 제자들이 건너편으로 갈 때에 그들이 빵을 챙기는 것을 잊어버렸더라.

5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “바리새파 사람들의 누룩과 사두개파 사람들의 누룩을 주의하고 경계하라.” 하셨느니라.

6 ¶ Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 그러자 그들이 자기들끼리 논의하며 말하기를, “이는 우리가 어떤 빵도 챙기지 아니하였기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 예수님께서 그것을 아셨을 때 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “오, 너희, 믿음이 적은 자들아, 너희가 어찌하여 자신들이 빵을 전혀 가져오지 않았다고 해서 서로 논의하느냐?

8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 너희는 아직까지 오천 명을 먹인 다섯 덩이의 빵과 얼마나 많은 바구니들을 너희가 수거하였는지를 이해하지도 못하고 기억하지도 못하느냐?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 또한 사천 명을 먹인 빵 일곱 덩이와 얼마나 많은 바구니들을 너희가 수거하였는지도 기억하지 못하느냐?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 내가 너희에게 빵에 관한 것을 말한 것이 아니며, 바리새파 사람들의 누룩과 사두개파 사람들의 누룩을 너희가 경계해야 한다고 말한 것임을 너희가 이해하지 못하니 어찌 된 일이냐?”

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 그제야 그분께서 그들에게 빵의 누룩이 아니라 다만 바리새파 사람들의 교리와 사두개파 사람들의 교리를 경계하라고 분부하셨다는 것을 그들이 이해하였더라.

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13 ¶ 예수님께서 카이사랴 빌립보의 변방들로 들어오셨을 때 그분께서는 자기 제자들에게 물으며 말씀하시기를, “사람들은 인자인 나를 누구라고 말하느냐?” 하셨느니라.

13 ¶ When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 그러자 그들이 말씀드리기를, “어떤 이들은 당신께서 침례자 요한이라고 말하나이다. 어떤 이들은 엘리-야라고 하며, 다른 이들은 예레미아⁹나 예언자들 중 하나라고 하나이다.” 하니라.

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “그러나 너희는 내가 누구라고 말하느냐?” 하시니라.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 그러자 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 말씀드리기를, “당신께서는 그리스도시요, 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.” 하였더라.

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “바요나 시몬아, 너는 복되도다. 이는 살과 피가 그것을 너에게 계시한 것이 아니요, 오직 하늘에 계신 나의 아버지께서 계시하신 것이기 때문이라.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 또 내가 너에게 말하노니, ‘너는 베드로라. 그리고 내가 이 반석 위에 나의 교회를 세우겠으니, 지옥의 대문들이 그것을 대적하여 승리하지 못하리라.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 그리고 내가 하늘의 왕국의 열쇠들을 너에게 주겠노라. 그리하면 네가 지상에서 묶는 것은 무엇이나 하늘에서 묶일 것이요, 네가 지상에서 푸는 것은 무엇이나 하늘에서 풀릴 것이라.’”

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 그때 그분께서 자기 제자들에게 명하셨으니, 그분께서 그리스도이신 예수이셨음을 그들이 아무에게도 알려서는 안 된다는 것이더라.

20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 ¶ 그때 이후부터 예수님께서 자기 제자들에게 보여주기 시작하신 것은, 곧 자신이 예루살렘으로 가야 한다는 것과 장로들과 수석 제사장들과 서기관들에게서 많은 것들로 수난을 겪어야 한다는 것과 죽임당하여야 한다는 것과 셋째 날에 다시 일으켜져야 한다는 것이었더라.

21 ¶ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 그때 베드로가 그분을 잡고서 그분을 꾸짖기 시작하며 말씀드리기를, “주여, 그것이 당신께 결코 일어나지 않기를 바라나이다. 이 일이 당신께 일어나서는 아니 되나이다.” 하였더라.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 그러나 그분께서 돌이키시어 베드로에게 말씀하시기를, “사탄아, 너는 내 뒤로 물러가라. 너는 나에게 실족거리가 되는도다. 이는 네가 하나님께 속한 것들을 선호하지 아니하고 오히려 사람들에게 속한 것들을 선호하기 때문이라.” 하셨느니라.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

24 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 자기 제자들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “누구든 나를 따라오려거든, 그는 자신을 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를지어다.

24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 이는 누구든지 자기 생명을 구원하려 하면 그것을 잃을 것이요, 누구든지 나를 위하여 자기 생명을 잃으려 하면 그것을 찾을 것이기 때문이라.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 그러므로 사람이 온 세상을 얻고도 자기 자신의 혼을 잃는다면 그에게 무슨 유익이 되겠느냐? 혹은 사람이 자신의 혼을 대신하여 무엇을 주겠느냐?

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 이는 인자가 자기 아버지의 영광 가운데서 자신의 천사들과 함께 올 것이기 때문이라. 그리하면 그때 그가 모든 사람에게 저마다 자신의 행위들대로 보응하리라.

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘여기에 서 있는 몇 사람은 그들이 인자가 자신의 왕국으로 오는 것을 볼 때까지 죽음을 맛보지 아니하리라.’”

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
