1 너희는 너희의 자선을 사람들 앞에서 그들에게 보이려고 행하지 않도록 주의하라. 그렇지 않으면 너희는 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지로부터 보상이 없느니라.

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 그러므로 너는 너의 자선을 행할 때, 위선자들이 회당들과 거리들에서 하는 것처럼 너의 앞에서 나팔을 불지 말라. 이는 그들이 사람들의 영광을 받으려 함이라. 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘그들은 자신들의 보상을 받았느니라.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 오히려 네가 자선을 행할 때면 너의 오른손이 하는 것을 너의 왼손이 모르게 하라.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 이는 너의 자선이 은밀한 가운데 있게 하려 함이라. 그리하면 은밀한 가운데 보시는 너의 아버지께서 너에게 친히 드러나게 보상하시리라.’

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 ¶ 그리고 네가 기도할 때, 너는 위선자들과 같이 되지 말지니라. 이는 그들은 사람들에게 보일 수 있도록 자신들이 회당들과 거리들의 모퉁이들에 서서 기도하는 것을 사랑하기 때문이라. 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘그들은 자신들의 보상을 받았느니라.

5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 그러나 네가 기도할 때면, 너는 너의 골방으로 들어가라. 그리고 너는 너의 방문을 닫은 후에 비밀리에 계시는 너의 아버지께 기도하라. 그리하면 비밀리에 보시는 너의 아버지께서 너에게 드러나게 보상하시리라.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 오히려 너희가 기도할 때면, 이교도들이 하듯이 헛된 반복들을 사용하지 말라. 이는 자신들이 많이 고하여야 그것들이 들릴 것이라고 그들이 생각하기 때문이라.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 그러므로 너희는 그들처럼 되지 말라. 이는 너희의 아버지께서는 너희가 그분께 구하기도 전에 너희가 필요한 것들이 무엇인지 아시기 때문이라.’

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 그러므로 너희는 이런 방식으로 기도하라. ‘하늘에 계신 우리 아버지여, 당신의 이름이 신성하게 되시기를 바라옵나이다.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 당신의 왕국이 임하기를 바라오며 당신의 뜻이 하늘에서 이루어진 것같이 그 뜻이 땅에서도 이루어지기를 바라옵나이다.

10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 이날 우리에게 우리의 일용할 빵을 주시옵고

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 우리에게 빚진 자들을 우리가 용서하는 것같이 우리의 빚들에서 우리를 용서하여 주시옵소서.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 또한 우리를 시험으로 인도하지 마시고 다만 악에서 우리를 구출하여 주시옵소서. 이는 그 왕국과 그 권능과 그 영광이 영원토록 아버지의 것이기 때문이옵나이다. 아멘.’

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 이는 만일 너희가 사람들에게 그들의 범법들을 용서하면 너희 하늘 아버지 역시 너희를 용서하실 것이기 때문이라.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 그러나 만일 너희가 사람들에게 그들의 범법들을 용서하지 아니하면 너희 아버지께서도 너희의 범법들을 용서하지 아니하시리라.

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 ¶ 이뿐만 아니라 너희가 금식할 때, 위선자들같이 슬픈 안색을 하지 말라. 이는 그들이 사람들에게 금식하는 것을 나타내려고 그들이 자신들의 얼굴을 흉하게 하기 때문이라. 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘그들은 자신들의 보상을 받았느니라.

16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 그러나 네가 금식할 때면, 너는 너의 머리에 기름을 바르고 너의 얼굴을 씻으라.

17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 이는 네가 사람들에게 금식하는 것을 나타내지 않고 오직 비밀리에 계신 너의 아버지께만 나타내게 하려 함이라. 그리하면 비밀리에 보시는 너의 아버지께서 너에게 드러나게 보상하시리라.’

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 ¶ 너희 자신들을 위하여 보물들을 땅 위에 쌓아 놓지 말라. 그곳은 좀나방이 먹고 녹이 슬며 또 그곳은 도둑들이 뚫고 들어가서 훔치느니라.

19 ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 그러나 너희 자신들을 위하여 보물들을 하늘에 쌓아 놓으라. 그곳은 좀나방이 먹거나 녹이 슬지 않으며 또 그곳은 도둑들이 뚫고 들어가거나 훔치지도 아니하느니라.

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 이는 너희의 보물이 있는 곳에 너희의 마음 또한 있을 것이기 때문이라.

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 몸의 빛은 눈이라. 그러므로 만일 너의 눈이 단일하면, 너의 온몸이 빛으로 가득하리라.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 그러나 만일 너의 눈이 악하면, 너의 온몸이 어둠으로 가득하리라. 그러므로 만일 네 안에 있는 그 빛이 어둠이 된다면 그 어둠이 얼마나 크겠느냐!

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 ¶ 아무도 두 주인을 섬길 수 없느니라. 이는 그가 한쪽을 증오하고 다른 쪽을 사랑하거나 아니면 그가 한쪽을 받들고 다른 쪽을 멸시할 것이기 때문이라. 너희는 하나님과 맘몬⁷을 함께 섬길 수 없느니라.

24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희의 생명을 위해서 무엇을 너희가 먹을지 또는 무엇을 너희가 마실지 아무것도 걱정하지 말라. 또 너희 몸을 위해서도 무엇을 너희가 입을지 걱정하지 말라.’ 음식보다는 생명이, 의상보다는 몸이 더 중요하지 아니하냐?

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 공중의 날짐승들을 보라. 이는 그것들이 씨를 뿌리지도 아니하고 그것들은 거두지도 아니하며, 곳간들로 모아들이지도 아니하기 때문이라. 그럼에도 너희 하늘 아버지께서 그들을 먹이시느니라. 너희가 그들보다 훨씬 낫지 아니하냐?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 너희 중에 누가 걱정함으로써 자신의 키에 일 큐빗을 더할 수 있겠느냐?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 그리고 어찌하여 너희는 의상에 대하여 걱정하느냐? 들의 백합들이 어떻게 자라는지 그것들을 숙고해 보라. 그것들은 애써 일하지 아니하며, 그것들은 실을 잣지도 아니하느니라.

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 그리고 더욱이 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘자신의 모든 영광 가운데 있던 솔로몬조차도 이것들 중 하나만큼 차려입지 못하였느니라.

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 이러한 이유로, 오늘 있다가 내일이면 화덕에 던져지는 들풀을 하나님께서 이렇게 입히신다면, 오, 너희, 믿음이 적은 자들아, 그분께서 너희를 훨씬 더 잘 입히지 아니하시겠느냐?’

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 그러므로 말하기를, ‘우리가 무엇을 먹을까?’ 또는 ‘우리가 무엇을 마실까?’ 또는 ‘우리가 무엇으로 입혀질까?’ 하면서 걱정하지 말라.

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (이는 이 모든 것들을 이방인들이 추구하기 때문이라.) 이는 너희 하늘 아버지께서는 너희에게 이 모든 것들이 필요하다는 것을 아시기 때문이라.

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 오직 너희는 먼저 하나님의 왕국과 그분의 의를 구하라. 그리하면 이 모든 것들이 너희에게 더해지리라.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 그러므로 내일을 위해 걱정하지 말라. 이는 내일이 스스로 내일에 속한 것들을 걱정할 것이기 때문이라. 그날의 악은 그날로 족하니라.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
