1 그때 예수님께서 성령에 의하여 광야로 인도되어 들어가셨으니, 마귀에게 시험을 받으시기 위함이더라.

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 그리하여 그분께서 사십 일 낮과 사십 일 밤을 금식하시자 그 후에 그분께서 허기지셨더라.

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 그리고 그 시험하는 자가 그분께 나아왔을 때, 그가 말하기를, “만일 네가 하나님의 아들이면 이 돌들이 빵이 되도록 명령해 보라.” 하였더라.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 그러나 그분께서 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “기록되기를, ‘사람이 빵으로만 살 것이 아니요, 다만 하나님의 입에서 나오는 각각의 모든 말씀으로 살 것이라.’ 하였노라.”

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 그때 마귀가 그 거룩한 도성으로 그분을 데리고 올라가서 성전의 높이 솟은 부분 위에 그분을 세워 두고

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 그분께 말하기를, “만일 네가 하나님의 아들이면, 스스로 뛰어내려 보라. 이는 기록되기를, ‘그분께서 자신의 천사들에게 너에 관한 명을 내리시리니, 그리하면 그들이 자신들의 손으로 너를 떠받쳐서 어느 때라도 네가 너의 발을 돌에 부딪치는 일이 없게 하시리라.’ 하였기 때문이라.” 하니라.

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하셨으니, “또 기록되기를, ‘너는 주 너의 하나님을 시험하지 말지니라.’ 하였도다.” 하셨느니라.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 또다시 마귀가 그분을 지극히 높은 산속으로 데리고 올라가서 세상의 모든 왕국들과 그것들의 영광을 그분께 보여주었더라.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 그러고 나서 그분께 말하기를, “만일 네가 엎드려 내게 경배하겠다면, 이 모든 것들을 내가 너에게 주겠노라.” 하니라.

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 그러자 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하시기를, “사탄아, 여기서 너는 물러가라. 이는 기록되기를, ‘너는 주 너의 하나님께 경배하고, 오직 그분만을 네가 섬길지니라.’ 하였기 때문이라.” 하시니라.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 그때 마귀가 그분을 떠나니, 보라, 천사들이 와서 그분을 섬겼더라.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

12 ¶ 이제 예수님께서 요한이 감옥에 갇혔음을 들으시자, 그분께서 갈릴리로 떠나셨더라.

12 ¶ Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

13 그러고 나서 그분께서는 나사렛을 떠나 스불론²과 납달림³ 경계들에 있는 해안가에 위치한 가버나움에 오셔서 지내셨더라.

13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

14 이는 예언자 이사-야를 통하여 언급된 것이 성취되게 하려 함이라. 말씀하시기를,

14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

15 “바닷길 옆, 요르단 너머에 있는 스불론 지역과 납달림 지역인 이방인들의 갈릴리여,

15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

16 어둠 속에 앉아 있던 백성이 커다란 빛을 보았으며, 그 사망의 구역과 사망의 그림자 가운데 앉아 있던 자들에게 빛이 솟구쳤도다.” 하신 것이라.

16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

17 ¶ 그때부터 예수님께서 선포하며 말씀하기 시작하시기를, “회개하라. 이는 하늘의 왕국이 가깝기 때문이라.” 하셨느니라.

17 ¶ From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

18 ¶ 그러자 예수님께서 갈릴리 바닷가를 걸으시면서, 바닷속에 그물 하나를 던지고 있는 두 형제인 베드로라 불리는 시몬과 그의 형제 안드레를 보셨더라. 이는 그들이 어부들이었기 때문이라.

18 ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

19 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “나를 따르라. 그리하면 내가 너희를 사람들을 낚는 어부로 삼겠노라.” 하시니라.

19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20 그러자 그들이 즉시 자신들의 그물들을 버려두고 그분을 따랐더라.

20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

21 다음으로 그분께서 그곳으로부터 계속 가시다가 다른 두 형제를 보셨는데, 세배대의 아들 야고보와 그의 형제 요한이라. 그들은 자신들의 아버지 세배대와 함께 한 척의 선박 안에서 자신들의 그물들을 수선하고 있었더라. 그리고 그분께서 그들을 부르셨더라.

21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

22 그러자 그들이 즉시 그 선박과 자신들의 아버지를 남겨 두고 그분을 따랐더라.

22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

23 ¶ 이후에 예수님께서 갈릴리 전체를 두루 다니시며 그들의 회당들 안에서 가르치시고 왕국 복음을 선포하시며 백성 가운데 온갖 부류의 병세와 온갖 부류의 질병을 치유하셨더라.

23 ¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24 그리하여 온 시리아 도처에 그분의 명성이 퍼졌더라. 그리고 그들이 병든 백성을 모두 그분께로 데려왔으니, 곧 갖가지 질병들과 심한 통증들에 시달리는 자들과 마귀들에 점유된 자들과 정신에 이상이 있는 자들과 중풍이 있는 자들이라. 이에 그분께서 그들을 치유하셨더라.

24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

25 그러자 갈릴리에서, 데카폴리스에서, 예루살렘에서, 유대에서, 요르단 너머에서 온 백성의 수많은 무리들이 그분을 따랐더라.

25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
