1 이후에 그들이 예루살렘 부근에 다다라 벧파게에 와서 올리브산에 이르렀을 때, 그때 예수님께서 두 제자를 보내시며

And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,

2 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희의 맞은편에 있는 촌락으로 들어가라. 그리하면 너희는 묶여 있는 나귀 한 마리와 그녀와 함께 있는 새끼 수나귀 한 마리를 즉각 발견하리라. 그들을 풀어 주고 나에게로 그들을 데려오라.

Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

3 그리고 만일 어떤 사람이 너희에게 무슨 말을 한다면, 너희는 말하기를, ‘주께서 그들을 필요로 하신다.’ 할지니라. 그리하면 그가 즉각 그들을 보낼 것이라.”

And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

4 이 모든 일은 예언자에 의하여 언급된 것이 성취되게 하려고 이루어졌더라. 말씀하시기를,

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,

5 “너희는 시-온의 딸에게 말하여 ‘보라, 너의 왕이 너에게 오시는도다. 그는 온유하시고 나귀 위에 앉으시나니, 곧 나귀의 새끼인 어린 수나귀로다.’ 하고 알리라.” 하셨느니라.

Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

6 그리하여 제자들이 가서 예수님께서 그들에게 명령하신 대로 행하였으니,

And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,

7 그 나귀와 그 새끼 수나귀를 데려와서 자신들의 옷을 그것들 위에 얹은 다음 그들이 그분을 그 위에 태웠더라.

And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.

8 그러자 아주 수많은 무리가 자신들의 의복들을 길에 펼쳐 놓았더라. 다른 이들은 나무들에서 가지들을 베어 내어 그것들을 길에 흩어 놓았더라.

And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9 그러면서 앞서 가던 무리들과 뒤따르던 무리들이 소리치며 말하기를, “다윗의 자손께 호산나. 주의 이름으로 오시는 분께서 찬양받으시는도다. 가장 높은 곳에서 호산나.” 하였더라.

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

10 그리하여 그분께서 예루살렘으로 들어오시자 도시 전체가 술렁이며 말하기를, “이분은 누구시냐?” 하였더라.

And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

11 그러자 그 무리가 말하기를, “이분은 갈릴리 나사렛의 예언자이신 예수님이시로다.” 하였더라.

And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

12 ¶ 이윽고 예수님께서 하나님의 성전 안으로 들어가셨는데, 성전 안에서 팔고 사는 자들을 모두 쫓아내셨으며, 환전상들의 탁자들과 비둘기들을 파는 자들의 자리들을 뒤엎으셨더라.

¶ And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

13 그러면서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “기록되기를, ‘나의 집은 기도의 집으로 불리리라.’ 하였도다. 그러나 너희는 그것을 도둑들의 소굴로 만들었도다.” 하셨느니라.

And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

14 그러고 나서 성전 안에 계신 그분께로 눈먼 자들과 절뚝거리는 자들이 나아왔더라. 그러자 그분께서 그들을 치유하셨더라.

And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

15 그런데 수석 제사장들과 서기관들이 그분께서 행하신 그 경이로운 일들과, 성전 안에서 아이들이 소리치며 말하기를, “다윗의 자손께 호산나.” 하는 것을 목격하자 그들은 심히 불쾌하였더라.

And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,

16 그러면서 그분께 말씀드리기를, “당신께서는 이들이 말하는 것을 들으시나이까?” 하였더라. 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “그렇도다. 너희는 ‘당신께서 아기들과 젖먹이들의 입에서 나오는 찬양을 완전하게 하셨나이다.’ 한 것을 전혀 읽어 본 적이 없느냐?” 하시니라.

And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

17 ¶ 그러고 나서 그분께서 그들을 남겨 두시고 도시 밖으로 나가 베다니에 이르셨더라. 그리고 그분께서는 거기서 묵으셨더라.

¶ And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.

18 이제 그분께서는 친히 아침에 도시 안으로 되돌아오시는 동안 배가 고프셨더라.

Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.

19 그러다가 그분께서 한 무화과나무를 길에서 보셨을 때 그것에게 친히 다가가셨는데 오로지 잎사귀들 외에는 거기서 아무것도 발견하지 못하셨더라. 그리하여 그것에게 말씀하시기를, “이후부터는 영원토록 너에게서 아무 열매도 자라지 않을지어다.” 하셨느니라. 그러자 그 무화과나무가 이내 시들어 버렸더라.

And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

20 그리고 제자들이 그것을 보자 그들이 놀라워하며 말하기를, “무화과나무가 얼마나 빨리 시들어 버렸는가!” 하였더라.

And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

21 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘만일 너희가 믿음을 가지고 의심하지 않는다면 그 무화과나무에 이루어진 이것을 너희가 행할 뿐 아니라 오히려 너희가 이 산에게 ‘너는 옮겨질지어다. 그리고 너는 바닷속으로 던져질지어다.’라고 말할지라도 그것이 이루어지리라.’

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

22 그런즉 너희가 믿으면서 기도로 무엇이든지 구하면 너희가 모든 것들을 받으리라.”

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

23 ¶ 이후에 그분께서 성전 안으로 들어오셨을 때, 수석 제사장들과 백성의 장로들이 그분께서 가르치시는 도중에 그분께 나아와 말씀드리기를, “당신은 무슨 권위로 이런 일들을 행하는가? 또 누가 당신에게 이 권위를 주었는가?” 하였더라.

¶ And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

24 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “나 역시 너희에게 한 가지 묻겠노라. 만일 너희가 그것을 나에게 알려주면, 나도 또한 내가 무슨 권위로 이런 것들을 행하는지 너희에게 알려주겠노라.

And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

25 요한의 침례, 그것은 어디로부터 왔느냐? 하늘로부터냐? 아니면, 사람들로부터냐?” 그러자 그들이 자기들끼리 논의하며 이같이 말하였더라. “만일 우리가 말하기를, ‘하늘로부터라.’ 하면 그가 우리에게 말하기를, ‘그렇다면 어찌하여 너희는 그를 믿지 않았느냐?’ 할 것이요,

The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

26 그러나 만일 우리가 말하기를, ‘사람들로부터라.’ 하면, 우리는 백성이 두렵도다. 이는 모두가 요한을 예언자로 받들기 때문이라.”

But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

27 그리하여 그들이 예수님께 대답하여 말씀드리기를, “우리는 알려 줄 수 없노라.” 하였더라. 이에 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “나도 너희에게 무슨 권위로 내가 이런 것들을 행하는지 알려 주지 아니하노라.

And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

28 ¶ 그러나 너희는 어떻게 생각하느냐? 어떤 사람에게 두 아들이 있었는데, 그가 첫째에게 가서 말하기를, ‘아들아, 오늘은 나의 포도원에 가서 일하라.’ 하였느니라.

¶ But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

29 그가 대답하여 말하기를, ‘저는 가지 않겠나이다.’ 하였으나, 그 뒤에 그가 돌이켜서 갔느니라.

He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

30 그런 다음에 그는 둘째에게 가서 이와 같이 말하였느니라. 그러자 그가 대답하여 말하기를, ‘아버님, 저는 가겠습니다.’ 하였느니라. 그러고는 가지 않았노라.

And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

31 그들 두 사람 중에 어느 쪽이 자기 아버지의 뜻을 행한 것이냐?” 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “첫째니이다.” 하니라. 예수님께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하시니라. “진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘세리들과 창녀들이 너희보다 먼저 하나님의 왕국 안으로 들어가느니라.’

Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

32 이는 요한이 의의 길로 너희에게 왔는데 너희는 그를 믿지 아니하였으나 세리들과 창녀들은 그를 믿었기 때문이라. 그리고 너희, 곧 너희가 그것을 보았을 때 그 후에도 너희는 그를 믿으려고 회개하지 않았느니라.

For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

33 ¶ 또 다른 비유를 들으라. 어떤 집주인 한 명이 있었는데 그는 포도원을 세우고 그것 주위로 울타리를 둘러 그 안에 포도즙틀을 파고 망대를 세웠으며, 농부들에게 그것을 세로 주고는 먼 나라로 떠났느니라.

¶ Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:

34 이후에 결실의 때가 가까이 다가오자 그가 자기 종들을 농부들에게 보냈으니, 그들로 하여금 그것의 열매들을 받게 하려 함이니라.

And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

35 그런데 그 농부들이 그의 종들을 잡아다가 한 명은 때렸으며, 또 한 명은 죽였고, 또 한 명은 돌로 쳐서 죽였느니라.

And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

36 또다시 그가 다른 종들을 처음보다 더 보냈느니라. 그런데 그들이 그들에게 동일하게 하였더라.

Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.

37 그러나 최후에는 그가 그들에게 그의 아들을 보내며 말하기를, ‘그들이 내 아들은 경외하리라.’ 하였느니라.

But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.

38 그러나 농부들이 그 아들을 보았을 때 그들은 자기들끼리 말하기를, ‘이 자가 상속자구나. 오라, 우리가 그를 죽이자. 그리하여 우리가 그의 유산을 강탈하자.’ 하였느니라.

But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

39 그리하여 그들이 그를 잡아서 포도원 밖으로 그를 던져 버리며 그를 살해하였느니라.

And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.

40 그러므로 포도원의 소유주가 오면 그가 그 농부들에게 무엇을 하겠느냐?”

When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

41 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “그는 그 사악한 사람들을 무참히 멸할 것이요, 열매들을 그것들의 시기들에 자신에게 바칠 다른 농부들에게 자기 포도원을 세로 주리이다.” 하니라.

They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

42 예수님께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하시니라. “너희는 성경 기록들 안에서, ‘건축자들이 거절한 돌, 바로 그것이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되나이다. 이것은 주께서 행하신 일이요, 그것은 우리의 눈에 놀랍나이다.’ 한 것을 전혀 읽어 보지 않았느냐?

Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

43 그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희에게서 하나님의 왕국이 취하여질 것이요, 그것의 열매들을 낼 민족에게 주어지리라.’

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

44 그리고 누구든지 이 돌 위에 떨어지는 자는 부서지리라. 반면에 누구에게든지 그 돌이 떨어지게 되면 그것이 그를 잘게 가루로 부수리라.”

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

45 이에 수석 제사장들과 바리새파 사람들이 그분의 비유들을 듣자 그들은 그분께서 자신들에 대하여 언급하신 것을 알아차렸더라.

And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

46 그러나 그들이 그분께 손을 대려고 하였을 때 그들이 그 무리를 두려워하였으니, 무리가 그분을 예언자로 받아들였기 때문이라.

But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
