예레미야애가 1장

1 사람들로 가득 찼던 도시가 어찌하여 외롭게 앉아 있는가! 어떻게 그녀가 과부처럼 되었는가! 민족들 가운데서 위대하였고, 속주들 가운데서 공주였던 그녀가, 어떻게 그녀가 조공을 바치는 신세로 전락하였는가!

1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!

2 그녀가 밤중에 심히 우나니, 그녀의 눈물들이 그녀의 두 뺨을 타고 흐르는도다. 그녀는 자신의 모든 애인들 가운데 자신을 위로하는 자를 전혀 얻지 못하였도다. 그녀의 친구들도 모두 그녀를 배신하였으니, 그들이 그녀의 원수들이 되었도다.

2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, they are become her enemies.

3 유다는 고난 때문에, 또 엄청난 노역 때문에 포로가 되어 들어갔도다. 그녀가 이교도들 가운데 거하나니, 그녀가 안식을 전혀 발견하지 못하는도다. 그녀의 모든 박해자들이 협곡들 사이에서 그녀를 따라잡았도다.

3 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.

4 엄숙한 명절들을 지키러 오는 자가 아무도 없는 까닭에 시온의 길들이 애곡하는도다. 그녀의 모든 대문들이 황량해졌도다. 그녀의 제사장들은 탄식하고 그녀의 처녀들은 고난을 당하니 그녀가 쓰라림 가운데 있도다.

4 The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

5 그녀의 대적들은 우두머리이고 그녀의 원수들은 번영하는도다. 이는 그녀의 불법들의 허다함으로 인하여 주께서 그녀를 괴롭히셨기 때문이라. 그녀의 자녀들이 원수 앞에서 포로로 끌려갔도다.

5 Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.

6 그리하여 시온의 딸에게서 그녀의 모든 아름다움이 떠나버렸도다. 그녀의 통치자들은 초원을 찾지 못하는 수사슴들같이 되었고, 그들은 추격자 앞에서 힘없이 달아났도다.

6 And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer.

7 예루살렘의 백성이 원수의 손안에 떨어지는데도 아무도 자신을 돕지 아니할 때, 곧 그녀의 고난의 날들과, 그녀의 비극들의 날들에, 그녀에게 기쁨을 주는 모든 것들, 곧 그녀가 옛날들에 지녔던 것들을 기억하였도다. 대적들도 그녀를 보았고 그녀의 안식일들을 조롱하였도다.

7 Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.

8 예루살렘이 심각하게 죄를 지었으므로 그녀가 옮겨졌도다. 그녀를 존경하던 모든 자들이 그녀를 멸시하나니, 그들이 그녀의 벌거벗음을 본 까닭이라. 진정 그녀가 탄식하고 뒤로 돌이키는도다.

8 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.

9 그녀의 추악함이 그녀의 치맛자락들 속에 있도다. 그녀는 자신의 마지막 결말을 기억하지 아니하는도다. 그러므로 그녀가 놀라우리만큼 낮아졌으며, 그녀에게는 위로자가 없었도다. 오, 주여, 저의 고난을 보소서. 이는 원수가 스스로를 드높였기 때문이니이다.

9 Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.

10 대적이 그녀가 기뻐하던 모든 것들 위에 자기 손을 뻗었나이다. 이는 이교도들이 그녀의 성소 안으로 입장한 것을 그녀가 목격하였기 때문이니, 그들은 당신께서 당신의 회중 가운데로 들어와서는 안 된다고 명령하신 자들이니이다.

10 The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.

11 그녀의 온 백성이 탄식하고, 그들이 빵을 찾나이다. 그들은 혼을 구제할 음식을 얻으려고 자신들에게 기쁨을 주는 것들을 내주었나이다. 오, 주여, 살펴보시고 숙고하여 주소서. 이는 제가 하찮게 되었기 때문이니이다.

11 All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile.

12 ¶ 너희 지나가는 모든 이여, 그 일이 너희에게는 아무것도 아니냐? 보라, 그리하여 가령 나에게 벌어진 나의 슬픔에 비견되는 어떤 슬픔이 있는지 알아보라. 그 슬픔으로 주께서 그분의 맹렬한 분노의 날에 나를 괴롭히셨도다.

12 ¶ Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

13 그분께서 위로부터 나의 뼈들 속에 불을 보내셨으니, 그 불이 그것들에 거슬러 만연하니라. 그분께서 나의 두 발 앞에 그물을 펴셨도다. 그분께서 나를 뒤로 돌이키게 하셨나니, 친히 나를 종일 황량하고 낙담하게 하셨도다.

13 From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.

14 나의 불법들의 멍에가 그분의 손에 의하여 묶였도다. 그것들이 둥글게 휘감겨 나의 목 위에 올려졌도다. 그분께서 나의 힘을 쇠하게 하셨으며, 주께서 그들의 손안에 나를 넘겨주셨으니, 내가 그들을 박차고 능히 일어날 수 없도다.

14 The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.

15 주께서 나의 한복판에서 나의 모든 막강한 남자들을 발아래 짓밟으셨나이다. 그분께서 나를 대적하여 집회를 소집하셨으니, 나의 청년들을 뭉개시려 함이니이다. 주께서 그 처녀, 유다의 딸을 포도즙 틀 안에 있듯이 짓이기셨도다.

15 The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.

16 이러한 것들로 인하여 내가 우노라. 혼을 구제할 위로자가 나에게서 멀리 떨어져 계시기에 나의 눈, 나의 눈에서 눈물이 아래로 흐르는도다. 나의 자녀들이 황량해졌나니, 그 원수가 승리한 까닭이라.

16 For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.

17 시온이 그녀의 두 손을 폈으나 아무도 그녀를 위로할 자가 없도다. 주께서 야곱에 관하여 명령하시어 그의 대적들이 그의 주위에 있도록 하셨도다. 예루살렘이 그들 가운데서 마치 생리 중인 여자와 같도다.

17 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.

18 ¶ 주께서 의로우시도다. 이는 내가 그분의 명령을 대적하여 반역하였기 때문이라. 온 백성아, 내가 너희에게 간구하노니, 듣고 나의 슬픔을 보라. 나의 처녀들과 나의 청년들이 포로로 끌려갔도다.

18 ¶ The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.

19 내가 나의 애인들을 불렀으나 그들은 나를 속였도다. 나의 제사장들과 나의 장로들이 자신들의 혼들을 구제하려고 그들의 음식을 찾는 동안 그들이 도시 안에서 숨을 거두었도다.

19 I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.

20 오, 주여, 보소서. 이는 제가 괴로움 속에 있기 때문이니이다. 저의 심정이 괴로우니, 제 마음이 제 속에서 뒤집어졌나이다. 이는 제가 심각하게 반역하였기 때문이니이다. 밖에서는 칼이 사랑하는 이를 앗아가고 가정에서는 사망 같은 것이 있나이다.

20 Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.

21 제가 탄식하는 것을 그들이 들었는데 저를 위로하는 자가 아무도 없나이다. 저의 모든 원수들이 저의 곤경에 관하여 들었더니, 그들이 당신께서 그것을 행하신 것을 반가워하나이다. 당신께서 부르신 그날을 친히 가져오시리니, 그들이 저처럼 되리이다.

21 They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.

22 그들의 모든 사악함이 당신 앞으로 나오게 하소서. 그리하여 당신께서 저의 모든 불법들로 인하여 저에게 행하신 것같이 그들에게 행하소서. 이는 저의 탄식들이 많고 저의 마음이 낙담하기 때문이니이다.

22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.
