베드로전서 1장

1 예수 그리스도의 사도인 베드로는 폰투스와 갈라디아와 카파도키아와 아시아와 비두니아 도처에 흩어져 있는 타국인들에게 편지하노니,

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 하나님 아버지의 미리 아심에 따라 택함받은 자들, 곧 성령께서 성결하게 하심을 통하여 순종과 예수 그리스도의 피 뿌림에 이른 자들에게니라. 너희에게 은혜와 평안이 크게 늘어나기를 기원하노라.

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 하나님, 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께서 찬양받으시기를 바라노라. 그분께서는 죽은 자들로부터 예수 그리스도를 부활하게 하심으로써 그분의 넘치는 자비를 따라 우리를 다시 낳으시어 생명력 넘치는 소망에 이르게 하셨으며,

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 썩을 수 없고 더럽혀지지 않으며 쇠하지 않고 너희를 위하여 하늘에 마련된 유산에 이르게 하셨나니,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 너희는 마지막 시대에 나타내 보이도록 준비된 구원에 이르는 믿음을 통하여 하나님의 권능으로 보호받고 있느니라.

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 필요하다면 너희가 여러 가지 시험들로 인하여 지금은 한동안 수심 가운데 있을지라도 그 구원을 너희가 대단히 크게 기뻐하나니,

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 너희의 믿음의 시련이 불로 정련될지라도, 사라지는 금의 정련보다 더욱더 귀하여 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 칭찬과 존귀와 영광으로 발견되게 하려 함이라.

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 너희가 그분을 보지 아니하였으나 사랑하는도다. 비록 지금 너희가 그분을 보지 않으나 그럼에도 믿으며 너희는 말로 표현할 수 없는 즐거움과 충만한 영광으로 그분을 크게 기뻐하나니,

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 너희 믿음의 결과, 곧 너희 혼들의 구원을 받았기 때문이라.

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10 혼들의 구원에 관하여 예언자들이 부지런히 조사하고 찾아보았으니, 그들은 너희에게 임할 은혜에 관하여 예언하였으며,

10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 그리스도의 영께서 미리부터 그리스도의 수난들과 뒤따를 영광을 증언하셨을 때 그들 안에 있던 그 영께서 무엇을, 또는 어떤 범주의 시기를 알려 주셨는지 찾아보았느니라.

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

12 그들에게 계시된 것은 그들 자신들을 위해서가 아니라 우리를 위해서 그들이 그것들을 섬겼다는 것이라. 그것들은 하늘로부터 아래로 보내심을 받은 성령님과 더불어 너희에게 복음을 선포한 자들에 의하여 이제 너희에게 전해진 것이며 천사들도 들여다 보고자 열망하는 것이라.

12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

13 이러한 이유로 너희 생각의 허리를 동여매라. 정신을 차리라. 그리고 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때 너희에게 전해질 은혜를 위하여 끝까지 소망하라.

13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14 순종하는 자녀들로서, 너희의 무지함 가운데 있던 이전 정욕들에 따라 너희 자신을 맞추지 말라.

14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15 그러나 너희를 부르신 분께서 거룩하신 것같이 너희도 온갖 부류의 생활 방식에서 그와 같이 거룩하라.

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16 이는 기록되기를, “내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩하라.” 하셨기 때문이라.

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

17 그리고 만일 외모들을 존중하지 않으시고 각인의 행위에 따라 심판하시는 아버지를 너희가 부른다면, 너희가 여기에 체류하고 있는 시간을 두려움 가운데 보내라.

17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

18 너희가 알거니와 너희 조상들로부터 전통으로 받은 너희의 헛된 생활 방식에서 너희가 구속된 것은 은과 금같이 썩을 수 있는 것들로 된 것이 아니요,

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 오직 흠 없고 점 없는 어린양의 피 같은, 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 구속된 것이라.

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 그분은 진실로 세상의 기초가 세워지기 이전에 미리 정해지셨으나 너희를 위하여 이 마지막 시대들에 명백하게 나타나셨느니라.

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 너희는 그분을 통하여 하나님을 믿나니, 그분께서는 너희의 믿음과 소망이 하나님 안에 있게 하시려고 그분을 죽은 자들로부터 일으켜 세우셨으며 그분께 영광을 주셨느니라.

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

22 너희가 성령을 통하여 진리에 순종함으로써 너희 혼들을 정화하여 형제들의 꾸밈없는 사랑에 이르렀으므로 너희는 순수한 마음으로 서로 뜨겁게 사랑하도록 유의하라.

22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

23 너희가 다시 태어난 것은 썩을 수 있는 씨에서 난 것이 아니요, 썩을 수 없는 씨에서 난 것이니, 살아 있고 영원토록 거하는 하나님의 말씀에 의한 것이라.

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

24 이는 모든 육체는 풀과 같고 사람의 모든 영광은 풀의 꽃과 같기 때문이라. 풀은 시들고 풀의 꽃은 떨어져 버리지만,

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

25 주의 말씀은 영원토록 지속되느니라. 그리고 이것이 복음에 의하여 너희에게 선포된 말씀이라.

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
