누가복음 1장

1 많은 이들이 우리 가운데서 가장 확실히 믿게 된 그 일들에 대한 진술을 정연하게 제시하려고 착수하였으므로,

1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

2 그들이 초기부터 목격자들이자 말씀의 사역자들인 우리에게 그것들을 전달했던 바로 그때

2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

3 맨 처음부터 모든 것들을 완전히 이해하고 있는 나로서도 테오필루스 각하 당신에게 정연히 기록하여 보내는 것이 좋을 듯하였으니,

3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

4 당신이 가르침을 받아 온 그 일들의 확실성을 당신으로 하여금 알게 하려 함이니이다.

4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

5 ¶ 유대 왕 헤롯의 날들에 아비아의 계통에 속한 사카랴란 이름으로 불리는 어떤 제사장 한 명이 있었는데, 그의 아내는 아론의 딸들에 속하였으며 그녀의 이름은 엘리사벳이었더라.

5 ¶ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

6 그리고 그들은 둘 다 하나님 앞에서 의로웠으니, 주의 모든 명령들과 법령들 안에서 비난받을 일 없이 살아갔더라.

6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

7 그런데 엘리사벳이 불임이었으므로 그들은 자식이 없었더라. 그리고 이제 그들은 둘 다 아주 연로해졌더라.

7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

8 그러고 나서 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그의 계통의 순서대로 그가 하나님 앞에서 제사장직을 집행하는 동안

8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

9 제사장직의 관례에 따라 그가 주의 성전 안으로 들어갈 때 분향하는 일에 그의 제비가 뽑혔더라.

9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

10 그리고 온 무리가 분향하는 시간에 밖에서 기도하고 있었더라.

10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

11 그런데 그에게 주의 천사가 나타나서 분향 제단의 우측에 서 있더라.

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 이에 사카랴가 그를 보았을 때, 그는 불안해하였고 두려움이 그에게 닥쳤더라.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 그러나 그 천사가 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “사카랴야, 두려워하지 말라. 이는 너의 기도가 상달되었기 때문이라. 그런즉 너의 아내 엘리사벳이 너에게 한 아들을 출산하여 주리니, 너는 그의 이름을 요한이라고 부를지니라.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

14 그리하여 너는 즐거움과 희락을 얻으리라. 그리고 많은 이들이 그의 출생을 크게 기뻐하리라.

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

15 이는 그가 주의 목전에서 위대해질 것이요, 포도주나 독주를 마시지도 않을 것이기 때문이라. 그리고 그는 심지어 그의 어머니의 태에서부터 성령님으로 충만해지리라.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

16 그리하여 그가 이스라엘 자녀들 중 많은 이들을 그들의 하나님이신 주께로 돌이키리라.

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

17 그리고 그가 엘리-야의 영과 권능 안에서 그분 앞에 가리니, 아버지들의 마음을 자식들에게로, 또 불순종하는 자들을 의인들의 지혜로 돌이키기 위함이요, 주를 위해 예비된 백성을 준비시키기 위함이라.”

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

18 그러자 사카랴가 그 천사에게 말하기를, “내가 이것을 무엇으로 알겠나이까? 이는 내가 늙은 남자요, 나의 아내는 아주 연로해졌기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

19 그러자 그 천사가 그에게 대답하며 이같이 말하였더라. “나는 하나님의 면전에 서 있는 가브리엘이요, 이 반가운 소식들을 너에게 말하기 위하여 그리고 너에게 보여 주기 위하여 보내심을 받았노라.

19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

20 그리고 보라, 너는 이 일들이 완수되는 날까지 벙어리가 되어 말을 할 수 없으리니, 네가 나의 말들을 믿지 않았기 때문이라. 나의 말들은 그것들의 시기에 성취되리라.”

20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

21 그런즉 백성이 사카랴를 기다리다가 그가 성전에서 그처럼 오래 머무는 것을 이상하게 여겼더라.

21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

22 이윽고 그가 나왔을 때 그는 그들에게 말을 하지 못하였더라. 그러자 그들은 그가 성전에서 현시를 보았음을 알아차렸더라. 이는 그가 그들에게 몸짓은 하는데 말문이 막힌 채로 있었기 때문이라.

22 And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

23 그리고 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그의 직무의 날들이 다 되자마자 그가 자기 자신의 집으로 떠났더라.

23 And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

24 그러고 나서 그날들 이후에 그의 아내 엘리사벳이 임신하였으며 오 개월 동안 자신을 숨기며 이같이 말하였더라.

24 And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

25 “주께서 나를 바라보시는 날들에 나의 치욕을 사람들 사이에서 제거해 주시려고 나를 이와 같이 다루셨도다.”

25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

26 그리고 여섯째 달에 천사 가브리엘이 나사렛이란 이름으로 불리는, 갈릴리의 한 도시로 하나님께로부터 보내심을 받았으니,

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 다윗의 집에 속하고 이름이 요셉인 남자와 정혼한 처녀에게 이르렀더라. 그리고 그 처녀의 이름은 마리아였더라.

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

28 그리고 그 천사가 들어가서 그녀에게 이르러 말하기를, “너, 크게 호의를 입은 자여, 평강이 있으라. 주께서 너와 함께 하시느니라. 너는 여자들 사이에서 복되도다.” 하였더라.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 이에 그녀가 그를 보자 그녀는 그가 하는 말에 불안해하였고, 대체 이것이 어떤 방식의 문안인지 그녀가 숙고하였더라.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 그러자 그 천사가 그녀에게 이같이 말하였더라. “마리아야, 두려워하지 말라. 이는 네가 하나님께 호의를 입었기 때문이라.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 그런즉 보라, 너는 너의 태에 임신하여 한 아들을 낳으리니 그분의 이름을 예수라 부를지니라.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32 그분께서는 위대하게 되실 것이요, 가장 높으신 분의 아들이라 불리시리라. 그리고 주 하나님께서 그분의 조상 다윗의 보좌를 그분에게 주시리라.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 그리하여 그분께서 야곱의 집을 영원토록 통치하시리라. 그리고 그분의 왕국은 끝이 없으리라.”

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 그때 마리아가 그 천사에게 말하기를, “제가 남자를 모른다는 것을 생각해 볼 때 어떻게 이 일이 있겠나이까?” 하였더라.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 그러자 그 천사가 그녀에게 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “성령님께서 너의 위에 임하시리니, 가장 높으신 분의 권능이 너에게 그늘을 드리우리라. 그러므로 너에게서 태어날 그 거룩한 것 역시 하나님의 아들이라 불리리라.

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 그리고 보라, 네 사촌 엘리사벳, 그녀 역시 그녀의 늙은 나이에 한 아들을 임신하였느니라. 그리고 불임이라 불렸던 그녀에게 이 달이 여섯째 달이 되느니라.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 이는 하나님께는 아무것도 불가능하지 않을 것이기 때문이라.”

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38 그러자 마리아가 말하기를, “주의 몸종을 보소서. 당신의 말씀대로 그것이 제게 있기를 바라나이다.” 하였더라. 그러자 그 천사가 그녀에게서 떠나갔더라.

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

39 그리고 그날들에 마리아가 일어나서 구릉 지방으로 서둘러 들어가서 유-다의 한 도시로 들어갔더라.

39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

40 그런 다음에 사카랴의 집 안으로 들어갔으며 엘리사벳에게 문안하였더라.

40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

41 그러자 이러한 일이 있었으니, 엘리사벳이 마리아의 문안을 들었을 때 그 아기가 그녀의 태 속에서 뛰었더라. 그러자 엘리사벳이 성령님으로 충만하였더라.

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

42 그리하여 그녀가 큰 목소리로 분명히 일러 말하였더라. “너는 여자들 사이에서 복되나니, 너의 태의 열매가 복되도다.

42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43 그런즉 나의 주의 어머니가 내게 오시다니 어떻게 이 일이 내게 임하는가?

43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 보라, 이는 너의 문안하는 음성이 나의 두 귀에 울리자마자 그 아기가 나의 태 속에서 즐거움으로 뛰었기 때문이라.

44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45 또한 믿은 여자는 복되도다. 이는 주께로부터 그녀에게 전해진 그 일들의 수행이 있을 것이기 때문이라.”

45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

46 그런 다음에 마리아가 이같이 말하였더라. “나의 혼은 주를 드높이는도다.

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47 그리고 나의 영은 나의 구원자이신 하나님을 크게 기뻐하였도다.

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48 이는 그분께서 자신의 몸종의 낮은 처지를 유의하셨기 때문이라. 그러므로 보라, 지금부터 모든 세대들이 나를 복된 자라고 부르리라.

48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

49 이는 막강하신 분께서 나에게 위대한 일들을 행하셨기 때문이니 그분의 이름이 거룩하도다.

49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

50 그리고 그분의 자비는 그분을 두려워하는 자들 위에 대대로 있도다.

50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

51 그분께서 자신의 팔로 힘을 보이셨도다. 그분께서 그들의 마음의 상상 속에서 교만한 자들을 흩어 버리셨도다.

51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52 그분께서 힘센 자들을 그들의 자리들에서 끌어내리셨으며 낮은 지위에 있는 자들을 크게 높이셨도다.

52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

53 그분께서 배고픈 자들을 좋은 것들로 채우셨도다. 그리고 부유한 자들은 그분께서 빈손으로 돌려보내셨도다.

53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

54 그분께서 자신의 자비를 기억하시어 자신의 종 이스라엘을 도우셨도다.

54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

55 이는 그분께서 우리의 조상들에게와 아브라함에게와 그의 씨에게 영원토록 말씀하신 것과 같도다.”

55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

56 그런즉 마리아가 그녀와 함께 약 삼 개월을 거하였다가 그녀 자신의 집으로 되돌아갔더라.

56 And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

57 이때 엘리사벳이 해산해야 하는 출산의 때가 다가왔으니 그녀가 한 아들을 낳았더라.

57 Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

58 그리하여 그녀의 이웃들과 그녀의 사촌들이 어떻게 주께서 그녀에게 위대한 자비를 보이셨는지 들었으니, 그들이 그녀와 함께 크게 기뻐하였더라.

58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

59 그러고 나서 이러한 일이 있었으니, 팔 일째에 그들이 그 아이에게 할례를 행하려고 갔더라. 그리고 그들이 그의 아비의 이름을 따서 그를 사카랴라고 불렀더라.

59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

60 그러자 그의 어머니가 반응하여 말하기를, “그렇지 않도다. 오히려 그는 요한이라 불리리라.” 하였더라.

60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

61 그러자 그들이 그녀에게 말하기를, “너의 친족 중에 이 이름으로 불리는 자는 아무도 없도다.” 하였더라.

61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

62 그러자 그들이 그의 아버지에게 몸짓들을 하여 그 아기가 어떻게 불렸으면 하는지 그에게 물어보았더라.

62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

63 그러자 그가 필기용 판을 달라고 하여 기록하며 말하기를, “그의 이름은 요한이라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 모두 놀라워하였더라.

63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

64 그러자 그의 입이 즉시 열리고 그의 혀가 풀렸으며 그가 말하며 하나님을 찬송하였더라.

64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

65 이에 두려움이 그들 주변에 거한 자들 모두에게 임하였더라. 그리하여 이 모든 말들이 유대의 온 구릉 지방에 걸쳐 널리 소문이 퍼졌더라.

65 And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

66 그러자 그 일들을 들은 자들 모두가 그것들을 자기 마음속에 담아 두며 말하기를, “이 아이가 어떤 부류의 아이가 될 것인가!” 하였더라. 그리고 주의 손이 그와 함께하였더라.

66 And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

67 이후에 그의 아버지 사카랴가 성령님으로 충만해져서 예언하며 이같이 말하였더라.

67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

68 “이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 찬양받으시기를 바라노라. 이는 그분께서 자기 백성을 찾아오셨고 구속하셨기 때문이라.

68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

69 그리하여 그분의 종 다윗의 집에서 우리를 위하여 구원의 뿔을 일으키셨도다.

69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

70 그분께서 세상이 시작된 이래로 존재해 온, 자신의 거룩한 예언자들의 입으로 말씀하셨던 것과 같으니,

70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

71 우리가 우리의 원수들로부터 구원받고 우리를 증오하는 모든 이들의 손에서 구원받게 하려 하심이요,

71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

72 우리의 조상들에게 약속하신 자비를 수행하시고 그분의 거룩한 언약을 기억하고자 하심이니,

72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

73 곧 그분께서 우리의 조상 아브라함에게 맹세하신 그 맹세로다.

73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

74 그분께서 우리에게 승인하시려는 것은 우리가 우리 원수들의 손에서 구해 냄을 받아 두려움 없이 그분을 섬기되,

74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

75 우리의 생애의 모든 날들 동안 그분 앞에서 거룩함과 의로 섬기게 하려 하심이라.

75 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

76 그런즉 아이야, 너는 가장 높으신 분의 예언자라 불리리라. 이는 네가 그분의 길들을 예비하기 위해 주의 얼굴 앞에 갈 것이기 때문이라.

76 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

77 이는 그들의 죄들의 사면을 통하여 그분의 백성에게 구원의 지식을 주기 위함이니,

77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

78 우리 하나님의 온화한 자비로 인함이라. 그 자비로 인하여 높은 곳으로부터 오시는 여명이 우리를 찾아오셨으니,

78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

79 어둠에 앉아 있으며 사망의 그림자 가운데 앉아 있는 자들에게 빛을 주시기 위함이요, 우리의 발을 화평의 길로 인도하고자 하심이라.”

79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

80 그리하여 그 아이가 자라 영 안에서 강해졌고 이스라엘에게 자신을 보이는 날까지 사막들 가운데 있었더라.

80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
