누가복음 16장

1 이후에 그분께서 또한 그분의 제자들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “어떤 부유한 사람 한 명이 청지기를 두었는데 그 청지기가 그의 소유물들을 낭비해 왔다는 비난을 받았느니라.

1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

2 그리하여 그가 청지기를 불렀으며 그에게 말하기를, ‘너에 관하여 내가 들은 이것이 어떻게 된 것이냐? 너의 청지기직에 관하여 회계 보고를 하라. 이는 네가 더 이상 청지기가 아닐 수 있기 때문이라.’ 하였느니라.

2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

3 그때 청지기가 속으로 자신에게 이같이 말하였노라. ‘내가 어떻게 해야 할까? 이는 나의 소유주께서 나로부터 청지기직을 박탈하시기 때문이라. 나는 땅을 일굴 수도 없으며, 구걸을 하는 것도 나는 부끄럽도다.

3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

4 내가 무엇을 할지 결심하였으니, 내가 청지기직을 박탈당할 때 그들로 하여금 그들의 집 안으로 나를 맞아들이게 하리라.’

4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

5 그렇게 하여 그는 자기 소유주에게 빚진 자들 각각을 모두 자신에게로 불렀으니, 첫 번째 사람에게 말하기를, ‘너는 나의 소유주께 얼마나 많이 빚졌느냐?’ 하였더라.

5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

6 이에 그가 말하기를, ‘일백 도량의 기름이니이다.’ 하였더라. 그러자 그가 그에게 말하기를, ‘너의 어음을 가져와서 속히 앉아서 오십이라고 쓰라.’ 하였더라.

6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.

7 그때 그가 또 다른 이에게 말하기를, ‘또한 너는 얼마나 많이 빚졌느냐?’ 하였더니 그가 말하기를, ‘일백 도량의 밀이니이다.’ 하였더라. 이에 그가 그에게 말하기를, ‘너의 어음을 가져와서 팔십이라고 쓰라.’ 하였더라.

7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.

8 그리하여 그 소유주는 그 불공정한 청지기를 칭찬하였느니라. 이는 그가 지혜롭게 행한 까닭이니, 이 세상의 자녀들이 그들 세대에 있어서는 빛의 자녀들보다 지혜롭기 때문이라.

8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

9 그런즉 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘불의의 맘몬⁸으로 너희 자신들에게 친구들을 만들라. 이는 너희가 도산할 때 그들로 하여금 너희를 영원한 거처들로 맞아들이게 하려 함이라.’

9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

10 지극히 적은 것에 신실한 자는 많은 것에도 신실하니라. 그리고 지극히 적은 것에 불공정한 자는 많은 것에도 불공정하니라.

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11 그러므로 만일 너희가 불의한 맘몬에 있어서 신실하지 않았다면, 누가 너희를 신뢰하여 참된 재물들을 맡기겠느냐?

11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

12 그리고 만일 너희가 다른 사람의 것에 신실하지 않았다면, 누가 너희 자신의 것을 너희에게 주겠느냐?

12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

13 ¶ 아무도 두 주인을 섬길 수 없느니라. 이는 그가 한쪽을 증오하고 다른 쪽을 사랑하거나 아니면 그가 한쪽을 받들고 다른 쪽을 멸시할 것이기 때문이라. 너희는 하나님과 맘몬을 함께 섬길 수 없느니라.”

13 ¶ No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14 그런즉 탐욕스러운 바리새파 사람들 역시 이 모든 것들을 들었는데도 그들은 그분을 조롱하였더라.

14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15 그러자 그분께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희는 사람들 앞에서 스스로를 정당화하는 자들이라. 그러나 하나님께서는 너희의 마음을 아시느니라. 이는 사람들 사이에서 높이 추앙받는 것은 하나님의 목전에서 가증함이기 때문이라.

15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

16 율법과 예언서들은 요한까지였도다. 그때 이후로는 하나님의 왕국이 선포되고 모든 사람이 저마다 그곳으로 몰려 들어가느니라.

16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17 그리고 율법의 일 획을 상실하는 것보다는 하늘과 땅이 없어지는 것이 더 쉬우니라.

17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

18 누구든지 자기 아내를 버리고 또 다른 이와 혼인하는 자는 간음하는 것이라. 또한 누구든지 자기 남편에게서 버려진 여인과 혼인하는 자는 간음하는 것이라.

18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

19 ¶ 어떤 부유한 남자 한 명이 있었는데 자주색 의복과 고운 아마포로 옷 입고 매일 호화롭게 지냈느니라.

19 ¶ There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20 그리고 나사로란 이름으로 불리는 어떤 거지 한 명이 있었는데 헌데들이 가득한 채로 부유한 남자의 대문에 눕혀져 있었더라.

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 그리고 부유한 남자의 식탁에서 떨어지는 부스러기들로 배가 채워지기를 갈망하였느니라. 이뿐만 아니라 개들이 와서 그의 헌데들을 핥았느니라.

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 그런데 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그 거지가 죽어서 천사들에 의하여 아브라함의 품속으로 옮겨졌더라. 그 부유한 사람도 죽어서 장사되었느니라.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 그런데 지옥에서 심한 고통들 중에 있는 그가 자신의 두 눈을 들어 멀리 떨어져 있는 아브라함과 그의 품에 있는 나사로를 보는도다.

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 그런즉 그가 소리치며 말하기를, ‘아버지 아브라함이여, 제게 자비를 베푸시고 나사로를 보내 주시어 그로 하여금 그의 손가락 끝을 물속에 담근 다음 제 혀를 식히게 하소서. 이는 제가 이 불꽃 가운데서 심한 고통을 당하고 있기 때문이니이다.’ 하였느니라.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 그러나 아브라함이 이같이 말하였느니라. ‘아들아, 너는 너의 일생 동안 너에게 좋은 것들을 받았고, 나사로도 그와 같이 악한 것들을 받았음을 기억하라. 그러나 이제 그는 위로받고 너는 심히 고통받느니라.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 그리고 이 모든 것 외에도 우리와 너희 사이에는 거대한 구덩이 하나가 고정되어 있느니라. 그렇기에 여기에서 너희에게로 넘어가고 싶은 자들도 갈 수 없느니라. 또한 거기에서 오고 싶어도 저들이 우리에게 넘어올 수 없느니라.’

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 그때 그가 이같이 말하였느니라. ‘그러므로 제가 당신께 간구하노니, 아버지여, 당신께서 그를 제 아버지의 집으로 보내 주소서.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28 이는 제게 다섯 형제가 있기 때문이니, 그가 그들에게 증언하여 그들도 이 심한 고통의 장소에 오지 않게 하소서.’

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 아브라함이 그에게 말하기를, ‘그들에게는 모세와 예언자들이 있느니라. 너의 형제들로 하여금 그들의 말을 듣게 하라.’ 하였느니라.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 그러자 그가 말하기를, ‘아버지 아브라함이여, 아니옵니다. 오히려 누군가 죽은 자들로부터 그들에게 간다면 그들이 회개하리이다.’ 하였느니라.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 이에 아브라함이 그에게 말하기를, ‘만일 그들이 모세와 예언자들의 말을 듣지 않는다면, 비록 누군가가 죽은 자들로부터 살아났다 해도 그들은 또한 설득되지 아니할 것이라.’ 하였느니라.”

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
