디모데전서 1장

1 우리 구원자이신 하나님과 우리 소망이신 주 예수 그리스도의 명령에 의하여 예수 그리스도의 사도 된 바울은

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

2 믿음 안에서 나 자신의 아들이 된 디모데에게 편지하노라. 우리 아버지이신 하나님과 우리 주이신 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 자비와 평안이 있기를 기원하노라.

2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

3 내가 마케도니아로 들어갈 때 내가 너에게 에베소에 계속 거하도록 간청하였던 것같이 내가 간청하노니, 너는 어떤 이들에게 명하여 그들로 하여금 어떤 다른 교리도 가르치지 못하게 하고,

3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

4 지어낸 이야기들과 끝없는 족보들에 관심을 두지도 못하게 하라. 그런 것들은 믿음 안에 있는 경건한 세움보다는 도리어 의문들을 자아내느니라. 그런즉 그와 같이 행하라.

4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

5 이제 명령의 목적은 순수한 마음과 선한 양심과 꾸밈없는 믿음에서 나오는, 성도의 사랑이라.

5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

6 이것으로부터 탈선하여 헛되고 소란스러운 말다툼으로 돌아선 어떤 이들이 있으니,

6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

7 그들은 율법 선생들이 되고자 갈망하나 자신들이 무엇을 말하는지도, 무엇에 관하여 주장하는지도 이해하지 못하는도다.

7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

8 그러나 만일 사람이 율법을 합법적으로 사용한다면 율법은 선한 것이라는 것을 우리가 아느니라.

8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

9 이것을 알지니, 율법은 의로운 사람 때문에 만들어진 것이 아니요, 오히려 무법자들과 순종하지 않는 자들 때문에 만들어진 것이니, 불경건한 자들과 죄인들과 거룩하지 않고 속된 자들과 아버지를 살인하는 자들과 어머니를 살인하는 자들과 살해범들과

9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

10 행음에 빠진 자들과 남자들로 자신들을 더럽히는 자들과 납치범들과 거짓말쟁이들과 위증하는 인물들과 혹여 건전한 교리를 역행하는 다른 어떤 것이라도 있을까 하여 만들어진 것이라.

10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

11 이 교리는 찬양받으시는 하나님의 영광스러운 복음에 따른 것이니, 내가 신뢰를 받아 그것이 나에게 맡겨진 것이라.

11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12 그런즉 나를 능력있게 하신 그리스도 예수 우리 주께 감사드리노라. 이는 그분께서 나를 신실하게 여기시어 나를 사역에 넣어 주셨기 때문이라.

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13 이전에 나는 신성 모독하는 자요, 박해하는 자요, 해치는 자였으나, 내가 자비를 얻어 냈으니, 내가 믿지 아니함 가운데서 무지함으로 그것을 행하였던 까닭이라.

13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

14 그리하여 우리 주의 은혜가 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 믿음과 사랑과 더불어 지극히 넘쳤도다.

14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15 그리스도 예수께서 죄인들을 구원하시고자 세상으로 오셨다는 이 말씀은 신실한 말씀이요, 전적으로 받아들이기에 합당하도다. 죄인들 중에 내가 우두머리라.

15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

16 하지만 내가 자비를 얻어 낸 것은 이런 까닭이니, 예수 그리스도께서 먼저 내 안에서 모든 오래 참음을 보여주시어, 이후에 그분을 믿고 영원한 생명에 이를 자들에게 모범이 되게 하려 함이라.

16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

17 영존하시고 불멸하시며 보이지 않는 왕이시요, 홀로 지혜로우신 하나님께 이제 존귀와 영광이 영원무궁토록 있기를 바라노라. 아멘.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

18 아들 디모데야, 내가 이 사명을 너에게 위탁하노니, 너는 너에게 미리 주어진 예언들에 따라 그것들을 통하여 훌륭한 전쟁으로 전쟁을 수행하며

18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

19 믿음과 선한 양심을 계속 붙들라. 그것들을 치워 버린 어떤 자들은 믿음에 관하여는 파선하였느니라.

19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

20 그들 중에 후메내우스와 알렉산더가 있노라. 내가 그들을 사탄에게 넘겼으니, 그들로 하여금 신성 모독하지 않는 것을 배우게 하려 함이라.

20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
