디모데전서 2장

1 그러므로 내가 권면하노니, 무엇보다도 먼저 간구들과 기도들과 중보들과 감사들이 모든 사람들을 위하여 드려지게 하라.

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 왕들을 위하여, 또 권위를 가진 모든 자들을 위하여도 그리하라. 이는 우리가 모든 경건과 정직함 가운데서 조용하고 평안한 생활을 하려 함이라.

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 이는 이것이 우리 구원자이신 하나님의 목전에 선하고 기꺼이 받으실 만한 일이기 때문이라.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 그분께서는 모든 사람들을 구원받게 하기를 원하시고, 또 진리의 지식에 이르게 하기를 원하시느니라.

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 이는 유일하신 하나님이 계시며, 하나님과 사람들 사이에도 유일하신 중재자가 계시기 때문이니, 곧 사람이신 그리스도 예수시라.

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

6 그분께서 모두를 위하여 하나의 속량 값으로 자신을 주셨으니, 합당한 때에 증언을 받으시리라.

6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

7 이로 말미암아 내가 선포자와 사도로 선임되었으며, (나는 그리스도 안에서 진리를 전하고 거짓말하지 아니하노라.) 믿음과 진실 안에서 이방인들의 선생으로 선임되었노라.

7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8 그러므로 내가 바라는 것은 남자들이 격노함과 의심함 없이 거룩한 손을 들고 각지에서 기도하는 것이라.

8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

9 이와 같은 방식으로 여자들도 정숙한 복장으로 스스로를 단장하되, 수줍음과 냉철함으로 하며 치장한 머리나 금이나 진주들이나 값비싼 옷차림으로 하지 말라.

9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 오히려 (경건을 고백하는 여자들에게 걸맞는) 선한 행위들로 단장하기를 바라노라.

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

11 여자는 전적으로 복종하며 잠잠히 배우게 하라.

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 반면에 여자가 가르치거나 남자에 대한 권위를 침범하는 것을 내가 허락하지 아니하노니, 다만 잠잠함 가운데 있을지니라.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 이는 아담이 먼저 지어졌고, 이브는 그다음에 지어졌으며

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 아담은 속지 않았으나, 여자는 속아서 불법 가운데 있었기 때문이라.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 그럼에도 불구하고 그들이 만일 냉철함으로 믿음과 성도의 사랑과 거룩함 가운데 지속적으로 거하면, 그녀가 해산함 가운데 구원을 받으리라.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
