베드로전서 5장

1 너희 가운데 있는 장로들에게 내가 권면하노라. 나 역시 장로요, 그리스도의 수난들의 증인이요, 또한 드러날 영광의 동참자니라.

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 너희 가운데 있는 하나님의 양 무리를 먹이면서 그들을 감독하되 억지로 하지 말고, 오직 자원하여 하며, 더러운 이익을 위하여 하지 말고, 오직 준비된 생각으로 하라.

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 또한 하나님의 상속 재산인 그들 위에 군주들같이 되지 말고 다만 양 무리의 본보기들이 되라.

3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

4 그리하면 목자장께서 나타나실 때 너희는 사라지지 아니할 영광의 왕관을 받으리라.

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

5 마찬가지로 너희, 젊은 자들아, 장로들에게 스스로 복종하라. 진정 너희 모두가 서로 복종하고 겸손으로 옷 입으라. 이는 하나님께서 교만한 자들을 적대하시고 겸손한 자들에게 은혜를 주시기 때문이라.

5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6 그러므로 하나님의 막강한 손 아래서 스스로 겸손하라. 이는 그분으로 하여금 합당한 때에 너희를 크게 높이시게 하려 함이라.

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 너희의 모든 염려를 그분께 던지라. 이는 그분께서 너희를 돌보시기 때문이라.

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 정신을 차리고 깨어 있으라. 이는 너희의 대적 마귀가 울부짖는 사자처럼 자신이 삼킬 수 있는 자를 찾아 두루 다니기 때문이라.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 세상 속에 있는 너희의 형제들에게 동일한 고난들이 이루어진 것을 아노니, 믿음 안에서 흔들림 없이 그에게 저항하라.

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 그러나 모든 은혜의 하나님, 곧 그리스도 예수를 통하여 그분의 영존하는 영광으로 우리를 부르신 분께서 너희가 잠깐 고통을 받은 뒤에는 너희를 완전하게 하시고, 확실하게 세우시며, 강건하게 하시고, 너희를 정착시키시느니라.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11 그분께 영광과 통치권이 영원무궁토록 있기를 바라노라. 아멘.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 신실한 형제인 실바누스¹ 편에 나는 너희에게 내가 생각하는 대로 간략하게 기록하여 권면하였으며 이것이 너희가 서 있는 하나님의 참된 은혜임을 증언하였노라.

12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

13 너희와 함께 택함받은, 바빌론에 있는 교회가 너희에게 문안하노라. 그리고 나의 아들 마르쿠스²도 그리하느니라.

13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

14 너희는 성도의 사랑의 입맞춤으로 서로 인사하라. 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 너희 모두에게 평안이 있기를 기원하노라. 아멘.

14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
