나훔 3장

1 피비린내 나는 도시에 화가 있기를 바라노라! 그곳이 온통 거짓말들과 강탈로 가득 찼으니, 잡아먹는 일이 떠나지 아니하는도다.

1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

2 말채찍의 소음과, 바퀴들이 덜컹거리는 소음과, 말들이 도약하는 소음과, 병거들이 훌쩍 뛰어넘는 소음이 떠나지 아니하는도다.

2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots.

3 기병은 밝게 빛나는 칼과 번쩍이는 창을 모두 들어 올리는도다. 그러자 살해당한 무리가 있으니, 엄청난 수의 사체들이로다. 그리고 그들의 시체들은 끝이 없도다. 그들은 자신들의 시체들 위에 걸려 넘어지는도다.

3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

4 이는 마술들의 여주인, 곧 예쁜 창녀의 허다한 행음들로 인함이라. 그녀는 자신의 행음들로 민족들을 파나니, 자신의 마술들로 가족들을 파는도다.

4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

5 보라, 내가 너를 대적하노라. 만군의 주가 말하노라. 그런즉 내가 너의 옷자락들을 너의 얼굴위로 들추겠고, 내가 그 민족들에게 너의 벌거벗음을, 그 왕국들에게 너의 수치를 보이겠노라.

5 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

6 그리고 내가 가증한 추행을 너의 위로 던지고, 너를 비천하게 할 것이며, 너를 구경거리로 두리라.

6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.

7 그런 다음 이러한 일이 있으리니, 너를 바라보는 모든 자들이 너에게서 도망하며 말하기를, “니네베가 황폐해지는도다. 누가 그녀를 두고 비탄에 잠기겠느냐? 어디에서 내가 너를 위하여 위로자들을 찾겠느냐?” 하리라.

7 And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

8 인구가 많은 노보다 네가 낫느냐? 그곳은 강들 가운데 위치하게 되었고, 그곳 주위에 물들이 있었으며, 그곳의 성곽은 바다였고, 그녀의 성벽은 바다부터였도다.

8 Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

9 에티오피아와 이집트가 그녀의 힘이었고, 그것은 무한하였도다. 풋과 루빔이 너의 돕는 자들이었도다.

9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

10 그럼에도 그녀는 잡혀갔으니, 그녀가 포로로 끌려갔도다. 그녀의 어린 자녀들도 모든 거리들의 꼭대기에 내리쳐져서 산산이 부서졌고, 그들은 그녀의 귀인들을 두고 제비들을 던졌으니, 그녀의 위대한 사람들은 모두 사슬들로 결박되었도다.

10 Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

11 또한 너는 술에 취할 것이라. 너는 숨을 것이요, 너는 또한 그 원수로 인하여 힘을 구하리라.

11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.

12 너의 모든 강한 요새들은 처음 익은 무화과들이 달린 무화과나무들처럼 되리라. 만일 그것들이 흔들린다면, 그것들이 먹는 자의 입속으로 바로 떨어지리라.

12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

13 보라, 너의 중심부에 있는 너의 백성은 여자들이로다. 너의 지역의 대문들은 너의 원수들에게 활짝 열려 있으리라. 그 불이 너의 빗장들을 집어삼키리라.

13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

14 포위를 대비하여 물들을 너에게 길어 두라. 너의 강한 요새들을 견고하게 하라. 진흙 속으로 들어가서 교니 반죽을 밟고, 벽돌 가마를 단단하게 만들라.

14 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.

15 거기에서 불이 너를 집어삼킬 것이요, 칼이 너를 끊어 버릴 것이요, 그것이 자벌레처럼 너를 먹어 치울 것이라. 너 자신을 자벌레처럼 많아지게 하라. 너 자신을 메뚜기들처럼 많아지게 하라.

15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.

16 너는 너의 상인들을 하늘의 별들 이상으로 늘렸도다. 자벌레가 약탈하고 날아가 버리는도다.

16 Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away.

17 너의, 왕관을 쓴 자들은 메뚜기들 같으며 너의 대장들은 커다란 풀무치들 같도다. 추운 날이면 그것들이 울타리들 안에 포진하는도다. 그러나 해가 떠오를 때 그들이 날아가 버리나니, 그것들이 있는 그것들의 처소는 알려지지 아니하는도다.

17 Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

18 오, 아시리아 왕아, 너의 목자들은 졸고 있도다. 너의 귀족들은 티끌 속에서 거할 것이요, 너의 백성은 산들 위에 흩어지는도다. 그런데 아무도 그들을 모으지 아니하는도다.

18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.

19 너의 멍은 치유가 불가하도다. 너의 상처는 끔찍하도다. 너의 풍설을 듣는 모든 자들이 너를 향하여 박수를 치리라. 그런즉 그들 위에 너의 사악함이 지속적으로 지나가지 아니하였느냐?

19 There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
