룻기 3장

1 그 뒤에 그녀의 시어머니인 나오미가 그녀에게 이같이 말하였더라. “내 딸아, 네가 잘되도록 내가 너를 위한 안식을 구해야 하지 아니하겠느냐?

1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?

2 그런즉 이제 네가 함께 있었던 하녀들을 거느린 보아즈는 우리의 친족이 아니냐? 보라, 그가 오늘 밤에 타작마당 안에서 보리를 키질하느니라.

2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

3 그러므로 너는 너의 몸을 씻고, 너에게 기름을 바르며, 너의 의복을 너의 몸에 걸치고, 마당으로 내려가라. 다만 그가 먹고 마시는 것을 마칠 때까지는 그 남자에게 너 자신을 알리지 말라.

3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

4 그리하면 그가 드러누울 때 이러한 일이 있으리니, 그가 누울 곳을 네가 알아 두었다가 너는 안으로 들어가서 그의 두 발을 덮은 것을 들추고 너의 몸을 누일지니라. 그리하면 네가 해야할 일을 그가 너에게 알려 주리라.”

4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

5 그러자 룻이 그녀에게 말하기를, “당신께서 제게 말씀하시는 모든 것을 제가 행하겠나이다.” 하였더라.

5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.

6 ¶ 그리하여 그녀가 마당으로 내려가서 그녀의 시어머니가 자신에게 분부한 모든 것들을 따라 실행하였더라.

6 ¶ And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.

7 이후에 보아즈가 먹고 마시어 그의 마음이 즐겁게 되었을 때 그가 곡식의 더미 끝에 누우려고 갔더라. 이에 그녀가 조용히 가서 그의 두 발이 있는 쪽을 들추고는 자신의 몸을 뉘었더라.

7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.

8 ¶ 그러자 한밤중에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 그 남자가 무서워서 자신의 몸을 돌렸더라. 그런데 보라, 한 여자가 그의 두 발이 있는 쪽에 누워 있더라.

8 ¶ And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

9 그리하여 그가 말하기를, “그대는 누구요?” 하였더라. 이에 그녀가 대답하기를, “저는 당신의 몸종 룻이니이다. 그러므로 당신의 몸종 위에 당신의 옷자락을 펼치소서. 이는 당신이 가까운 남자 친척이기 때문이니이다.” 하였더라.

9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

10 그러자 그가 이렇게 말하였더라. “내 딸아, 네가 주께 복을 받기를 기원하노라. 네가 가난하든지 부유하든지 간에 젊은 남자들을 따르지 아니하였으므로 너는 초기보다 나중에 더 큰 친절을 보였기 때문이라.

10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.

11 그런즉 이제 내 딸아, 두려워하지 말라. 나는 네가 요구한 모든 것을 너에게 이행하겠노라. 이는 네가 현숙한 여자임을 나의 백성의 도시 전체가 알기 때문이라.

11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

12 그리고 이제 내가 너의 가까운 남자 친척인 것은 사실이라. 하지만 나보다 더 가까운 남자 친척이 있느니라.

12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.

13 이 밤은 머물라. 그리하면 아침에 이러한 일이 있으리니, 만일 그가 너에게 남자 친척의 역할을 수행하려 한다면 좋은 일이라. 그로 하여금 남자 친척의 역할을 이행하게 하라. 그러나 만일 그가 너에게 남자 친척의 역할을 이행하려 하지 아니한다면, 그때는 주께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니, 내가 너에게 남자 친척의 역할을 이행하겠노라. 아침까지는 누워 있으라.”

13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.

14 ¶ 그런즉 그녀가 아침까지 그의 두 발이 있는 쪽에 누웠더라. 그러다가 누군가가 상대방을 알아볼 수 있기 전에 그녀가 일어났더라. 그런즉 그가 말하기를, “어떤 여자가 마당 안으로 들어온 것이 알려지지 않게 하라.” 하였더라.

14 ¶ And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.

15 또한 그가 말하기를, “너는 네 위에 덮고 있는 너울을 가져와서 그것을 들고 있으라.” 하였더라. 그리하여 그녀가 그것을 들고 있자 그가 보리 여섯 도량을 측량하여 담고 그녀 위에 그것을 올려놓아 주었더라. 그러고 나서 그녀가 그 도시 안으로 들어갔더라.

15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.

16 그리하여 그녀가 자기 시어머니에게 오자 그녀가 말하기를, “내 딸아, 네가 누구냐?” 하였더라. 그러자 그녀는 그 남자가 그녀에게 행한 것을 모두 그녀에게 알렸더라.

16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.

17 그러면서 그녀가 이같이 말하였더라. “그가 여기 있는 보리 여섯 도량을 제게 주었나이다. 이는 그가 나에게 말하기를, ‘너의 시어머니에게 빈손으로 가지 말라.’ 하였기 때문이니이다.”

17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

18 그때 그녀가 이같이 말하였더라. “내 딸아, 이 사안이 어떻게 마무리될지 네가 알게 될 때까지는 가만히 앉아 있으라. 이는 그 남자가 이날 자신이 그것을 완료하기 전까지는 안식하지 아니할 것이기 때문이라.” 하였더라.

18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
