1 이후 제칠년 다섯째 달, 그달 십 일에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 이스라엘의 장로들 중 어떤 사람들이 주께 문의하려고 와서 내 앞에 앉았더라.

And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

2 그때 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,

3 “사람의 아들아, 이스라엘의 장로들에게 일러, 그들에게 말하기를, ‘주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희가 나에게 문의하려고 왔느냐? 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 주 하나님이 말하노라. 나는 너희에게서 문의를 받지 아니하겠노라.’ 하라.

Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

4 너는 그들을 판단해 주려 하느냐? 사람의 아들아, 너는 그들을 판단해 주려 하느냐? 그들에게 자기 조상들의 가증함들을 알게 해 주라.

Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

5 ¶ 그리고 그들에게 말하라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 내가 이스라엘을 선택하고 야곱의 집의 씨에게 나의 손을 들어 올렸으며 이집트 지역에서 그들에게 나 자신을 알렸던 때요, 내가 나의 손을 그들에게 들어 올리며 말하기를, ‘나는 주 너희 하나님이라.’ 하던 때인 그날에,

¶ And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

6 내가 그들에게 나의 손을 들어 올려 그들을 이집트 지역에서 데리고 나와서, 내가 그들을 위하여 정탐하였던 지역, 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 지역이요, 모든 지역들의 영광인 지역으로 데리고 들어가려 하였던 그날에,

In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

7 그때 내가 그들에게 말하기를, ‘너희는 모두 저마다 자기 두 눈의 가증함들을 던져 버리고 이집트의 우상들로 너희 자신들을 더럽히지 말라. 나는 주 너희 하나님이로다.’ 하였도다.

Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

8 그러나 그들이 나를 대적하여 반역하였고 나에게 경청하려 하지 아니하였도다. 그들은 모두 저마다 자신들의 눈의 가증함들을 던져 버리지 아니하였고, 이집트의 우상들을 단념하지도 아니하였도다. 그때 내가 말하기를, ‘내가 그들 위에 나의 노여움을 쏟아붓겠으니, 이집트 지역 한복판에서 그들을 대적하여 나의 분노를 이행하겠노라.’ 하였도다.

But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9 그러나 내가 나의 이름을 위하여 일하였나니, 그들이 그 사이에 있었던 이교도들 앞에서 나의 이름이 더럽혀지지 않도록 하기 위함이라. 그 이교도들의 목전에서 내가 그들에게 나 자신을 알렸으니, 이집트 지역에서 그들을 데리고 나온 일에 있어서 그리하였도다.

But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 ¶ 이러한 이유로 내가 그들을 이집트 지역에서 밖으로 나가게 하여 광야 가운데로 데리고 들어갔도다.

¶ Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

11 그리하여 내가 나의 규례들을 그들에게 주었고 나의 공의로운 법규들을 보여 주었으니, 만일 사람이 그것들을 행한다면, 그는 실로 그것들 가운데서 살리라.

And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

12 이와 더불어 나는 그들에게 나의 안식일들도 주었으니, 나와 그들 사이에서 표적이 되게 하여, 그들이 내가 그들을 성결하게 구별시키는 주라는 것을 알 수 있게 하려 함이라.

Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

13 그러나 이스라엘 집이 광야 가운데서 나를 대적하여 반역하였도다. 그들은 나의 규례들 가운데 살아가지 아니하였으니, 그들은 나의 공의로운 법규들을 멸시하였도다. 그것들은 만일 사람이 실행한다면 그가 그것들 가운데서 무려 생명을 얻게 될 것들이로다. 그리고 그들은 나의 안식일들을 대단히 오염시켰도다. 그때 내가 말하기를, ‘내가 광야 가운데서 그들에게 나의 노여움을 쏟아부어 그들을 소멸시키려 하노라.’ 하였도다.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 그러나 내가 나의 이름을 위하여 일하였으니, 곧 내가 이교도들의 목전에서 그들을 데리고 나온 일에 있어서 이교도들 앞에서 나의 이름이 오염되지 아니하도록 함이라.

But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

15 그럼에도 또한 내가 광야 가운데서 그들에게 나의 손을 들어 올렸으니, 내가 그들에게 이미 준 지역, 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 지역이요, 모든 지역들의 영광인 지역으로 나는 그들을 데려가려 하지 아니하였도다.

Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

16 이는 그들이 나의 공의로운 법규들을 멸시하였고, 나의 규례들 가운데서 살아가지 아니하였으며 오히려 나의 안식일들을 오염시킨 까닭이니, 그들의 마음이 그들의 우상들을 따라갔기 때문이라.

Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

17 그럼에도 불구하고 나의 눈이 그들을 멸망시키는 것에서 그들을 아껴 두었으니, 나는 광야 가운데서 그들을 끝내지도 아니하였도다.

Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 다만 광야 가운데서 나는 그들의 자녀들에게 이같이 말하였노라. ‘너희는 너희 조상들의 규례들 가운데서 살아가지 말라. 그들의 법규들을 준수하지도 말고, 그들의 우상들로 너희 자신을 더럽히지도 말라.

But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

19 내가 주 너희 하나님이로다. 나의 규례들 가운데 살아가고 나의 공의로운 법규들을 지키며 그것들을 실행하라.

I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

20 그리고 나의 안식일들을 거룩하게 하라. 그리하여 그것들이 나와 너희 사이에 표적이 되리라. 이로써 너희는 내가 주 너희 하나님이라는 것을 알 수 있느니라.’

And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

21 그럼에도 불구하고 그 자녀들이 나를 대적하여 반역하였도다. 그들은 나의 규례들 가운데 살아가지 아니하였고, 나의 공의로운 법규들을 실행하려고 그것들을 지키지도 아니하였으니, 만일 사람이 그것들을 행한다면, 그는 실로 그것들 가운데서 살리라. 그들은 나의 안식일들을 더럽혔도다. 그때 내가 말하기를, ‘내가 광야 가운데서 그들을 대적하여 나의 분노를 이행하고자 그들 위에 나의 노여움을 쏟아부으리라.’ 하였도다.

Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

22 그럼에도 불구하고 내가 나의 손을 뒤로 거두었고 나의 이름을 위하여 일하였나니, 내가 그들을 그 목전에서 데리고 나온 이교도들의 목전에서 나의 이름이 오염되지 않도록 하기 위함이라.

Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

23 내가 광야 가운데서도 그들에게 나의 손을 들어 올렸으니, 내가 이교도들 사이로 그들을 흩어 버리고 그들을 나라들로 흩어지게 하려 함이라.

I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

24 이는 그들이 나의 공의로운 법규들을 집행하지 아니하였고 오히려 나의 규례들을 멸시하였으며 나의 안식일들을 오염시켰고 그들의 눈으로 그들 조상들의 우상들을 따랐기 때문이라.

Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

25 이러한 이유로 나는 또한 그들에게 선하지 아니한 규례들과, 그들이 그것으로 생명을 얻을 수 없는 법규들을 주었도다.

Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

26 그리하여 그들이 태를 여는 모든 자들로 하여금 불을 통과하게 만든 일에 있어서 내가 그들 자신의 예물들로 그들을 오염시켰도다. 이는 그들이 내가 주라는 것을 알게 하려는 취지로 내가 그들을 황량하게 하려 함이라.

And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

27 ¶ 그러므로 사람의 아들아, 이스라엘 집에게 전하여 그들에게 이같이 말하라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 그럼에도 이것으로 너희 조상들이 나를 모독하였고, 저것으로 그들이 나를 대적하여 범법을 저질렀도다.

¶ Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

28 이는 내가 나의 손을 들어 올려 그들에게 그곳을 주기로 한 그 지역으로 내가 그들을 데리고 들어갔을 때, 그때 그들이 각각의 모든 높은 언덕과 모든 굵은 나무들을 보았고, 거기서 그들이 자신들의 희생 제물을 바쳤으며, 거기서 그들이 그들의 제물의 격분시키는 것을 나타냈기 때문이라. 또한 거기서 그들은 자신들의 감미로운 향기를 내었으며, 거기서 자신들의 음료 제물들을 따라 부었도다.

For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

29 그때 내가 그들에게 말하기를 ‘너희가 가는 그 높은 처소는 무엇이냐?’ 하였도다. 그런즉 그곳의 이름이 오늘날까지 바마라 불리는도다.

Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

30 이러한 이유로 이스라엘 집에 말하라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희가 너희 조상들의 풍속에 따라 오염되었느냐? 그리고 너희가 그들의 가증함들을 좇아 행음을 저지르느냐?

Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

31 이는 너희가 너희 예물들을 바칠 때, 너희가 너희의 아들들을 불에 통과시킬 때 오늘날에 이르기까지 너희가 너희의 모든 우상들로 너희 자신을 오염시키기 때문이라. 오, 이스라엘 집아, 내가 너희에게서 문의를 받겠느냐? 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 주 하나님이 말하노라. 나는 너희에게서 문의를 받지 아니하겠노라.

For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

32 그리고 너희 생각 속으로 들어오는 것은 일절 일어나지 아니하리니, 곧 너희가 말하기를, ‘우리가 이교도들같이, 곧 그 나라들의 족속들같이 되어 나무토막과 돌을 섬기겠노라.’ 하는 일이라.

And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

33 ¶ 내가 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니, 주 하나님이 말하노라. 내가 반드시 막강한 손과 뻗은 팔과 쏟아붓는 노여움으로 너희를 다스리겠노라.

As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

34 그리하여 막강한 손과 뻗은 팔과 쏟아붓는 노여움으로 내가 너희를 백성들로부터 데리고 나오겠으며, 너희가 그 안에서 흩어져 있는 나라들에서 너희를 모으겠노라.

And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35 그리고 내가 백성들의 광야 가운데로 너희를 데려가겠으니, 거기서 내가 너희와 함께 얼굴과 얼굴을 마주하고 변론하겠노라.

And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 내가 이집트 지역의 광야 가운데서 너희 조상들과 변론한 것과 마찬가지로 내가 너희와도 그와 같이 변론하겠노라. 주 하나님이 말하노라.

Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.

37 그리고 내가 너희를 막대기 아래로 통과하게 하겠으니, 언약의 속박 안으로 너희를 데려오겠노라.

And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 그리고 나는 반역하는 자들과, 나를 대적하여 범법하는 자들을 너희 가운데서 깨끗이 없애겠노라. 그들이 체류하는 국가에서 내가 그들을 데리고 나오겠으니, 그들은 이스라엘 지역 안으로 진입하지 못하리라. 그리하면 너희는 내가 주라는 것을 알게 되리라.

And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

39 오, 이스라엘 집아, 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 너희로 말하자면, 만일 너희가 나에게 경청하려 하지 아니하려거든 너희는 가라. 너희는 모두 저마다 자기 우상들을 섬기고 이후에도 그리하라. 다만 너희는 더 이상 너희 예물들과 너희 우상들로 나의 거룩한 이름을 오염시키지 말라.

As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

40 이는 나의 거룩한 산속에서, 이스라엘의 높이에 해당하는 산속에서, 거기서 이스라엘 집 전체, 곧 그 지역에 있는 자들 모두가 나를 섬길 것이기 때문이라. 주 하나님이 말하노라. 거기서 내가 그들을 기꺼이 받아들이겠으며, 거기서 내가 너희의 예물들과 너희의 헌납물들의 첫 열매들을 너희의 모든 거룩한 것들과 더불어 요구하겠노라.

For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

41 내가 너희를 백성들로부터 데리고 나오고, 너희가 그 안에 흩어져 있던 국가들에서 너희를 모을 때, 내가 너희의 감미로운 향기와 함께 너희를 기꺼이 받아들이겠노라. 그리하여 이교도들 앞에서 너희 가운데 내가 거룩하게 구별되겠노라.

I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

42 그리하면 내가 나의 손을 들어 올려 너희 조상들에게 그곳을 주기로 한 그 나라 안으로, 곧 이스라엘 지역 안으로 내가 너희를 데리고 들어올 때, 너희는 내가 주라는 것을 알게 되리라.

And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

43 그리고 거기서 너희는 너희의 길들과 너희가 그 안에서 더럽혀진 너희의 모든 처사들을 기억하리라. 또 너희가 저지른 너희의 모든 악들로 인하여 너희 자신이 보기에 너희 스스로가 역겨우리라.

And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

44 그리고 오, 너희, 이스라엘 집아, 내가 너희에게 너희의 사악한 길들과 너희의 부패한 행동거지들에 따르지 아니하고 나의 이름을 위하여 일하였을 때 너희는 내가 주라는 것을 알게 되리라. 주 하나님이 말하노라.”

And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

45 ¶ 이와 더불어 주의 말씀이 나에게 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.

¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

46 “사람의 아들아, 남쪽을 향하여 너의 얼굴을 고정시키고 남쪽을 향하여 너의 말을 떨어뜨리며 남쪽 들판의 숲을 대적하여 예언하라.

Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

47 그런즉 남쪽 숲에 이같이 말하라. 주의 말씀을 들으라. 주 하나님이 이같이 말하노라. 보라, 내가 너의 내부에 불을 붙이겠으니, 너의 내부에 있는 모든 푸른 나무와 모든 마른 나무를 저마다 집어삼키리라. 그 이글거리는 불꽃이 꺼지지 아니하리니, 남쪽에서 북쪽까지 모든 얼굴들이 그 안에서 태워지리라.

And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

48 그리하면 모든 육체는 나 주가 그 불을 붙인 것을 알게 되리라. 그 불은 꺼지지 아니하리라.”

And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

49 그때 내가 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “아, 주 하나님이여! 그들이 나에 관하여 말하기를, ‘그는 비유들을 말하지 아니하느냐?’ 하나이다.”

Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
