1 너희는 위로하라, 너희는 나의 백성을 위로하라. 너희 하나님이 말하노라.
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2 너희는 예루살렘에게 위로하며 말하고, 그녀에게 외치라. 곧, 그녀의 전쟁이 종식되었고, 그녀의 죄악이 용서되었다는 것이라. 이는 그녀가 자신의 모든 죄들에 대하여 주의 손에서 두 배를 받았기 때문이라.
2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
3 ¶ 광야 가운데서 외치는 자의 음성이 있어 이같이 말하는도다. “너희는 주의 길을 예비하라. 사막 가운데서 우리 하나님을 위해 대로를 곧게 하라.
3 ¶ The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 모든 골짜기마다 크게 높여질 것이요, 모든 산과 언덕마다 낮춰지리라. 또 구부러진 곳이 곧게 될 것이요, 거친 곳들이 평탄하게 되리라.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 그리고 주의 영광이 나타나 보여지리니, 모든 육체가 그것을 함께 보리라. 이는 주의 입이 그것을 말씀하셨기 때문이라.”
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6 그 음성이 말씀하시기를, “부르짖으라.” 하셨도다. 그러자 그가 말씀드리기를, “제가 무엇을 부르짖어야 하리이까?” 하였더라. 모든 육체는 풀이요, 그것의 모든 수려함은 들꽃 같도다.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드는도다. 이는 주의 영이 그것 위로 불기 때문이라. 과연 그 백성은 풀이로다.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드나, 우리 하나님의 말씀은 영원토록 서리라.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9 ¶ 오, 좋은 소식들을 가져오는 시온이여, 너는 높은 산속으로 올라가라. 오, 좋은 소식들을 가져오는 예루살렘이여, 너의 목소리를 힘차게 높이라. 그것을 높이고 무서워하지 말라. 유다의 도시들에게 말하기를, “너희 하나님을 보라!” 하라.
9 ¶ O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10 보라, 주 하나님께서 강하신 손으로 임하실 것이요, 그분의 팔이 그분을 위하여 다스리시리라. 보라, 그분의 보상이 그분과 함께 있고, 그분의 역사가 그분 앞에 있도다.
10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 그분께서 목자처럼 자신의 양 떼를 먹이시리라. 그분께서 자신의 팔로 어린양들을 모아 그들을 자신의 품에 안고 옮기실 것이요, 어린것들과 함께 있는 것들을 온화하게 이끄시리라.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12 ¶ 누가 자신의 오므린 손으로 물들을 측량하였고, 뼘으로 하늘을 재었으며, 땅의 티끌을 도량 안에 담아 보았고, 저울의 접시들 안에 산들을 달아 보았으며, 저울로 언덕들을 달아 보았느냐?
12 ¶ Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13 누가 주의 영을 지도하였거나 그분의 조언자가 되어 그분을 가르친 적이 있느냐?
13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14 그분께서 누구와 상의하셨느냐? 또 누가 그분을 훈계하고 그분을 공의의 행로 가운데 가르치며 그분께 지식을 가르치고 그분께 명철의 길을 보였느냐?
14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15 보라, 민족들은 양동이 속의 한 방울 물 같고, 저울의 작은 티끌같이 여겨지는도다. 보라, 그분께서는 섬들을 매우 작은 것같이 들어 올리시는도다.
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16 그리고 레바논은 태우기에도 족하지 아니하니, 그곳의 짐승들은 번제물로도 족하지 아니하도다.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 그분 앞에서 모든 민족들은 없는 것 같도다. 또 그분께는 그들이 없는 것, 곧 헛것보다 더 못하게 여겨지는도다.
17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18 ¶ 그렇다면 너희가 하나님을 누구와 견주겠느냐? 또 너희는 그분을 무엇과 같은 모습에 비교하겠느냐?
18 ¶ To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 기술자는 조각된 형상을 녹이고, 금 세공사는 그것을 펴서 금을 입히고 은목걸이들을 주조하는도다.
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 너무 빈궁하여 헌납물이 없는 자가 썩지 아니할 나무를 선택하는도다. 그가 자신에게 올 정밀한 기술자를 구하나니, 움직이지 못할 조각된 형상을 예비하고자 함이라.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 너희가 몰랐느냐? 너희가 듣지 아니하였느냐? 시작부터 너희에게 그것이 알려지지 아니하였느냐? 땅의 기초들이 세워진 때부터 너희가 이해하지 못하였느냐?
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22 땅의 원형 위에 앉아 계시는 이가 그분이시니, 그곳의 거주자들은 풀무치들 같도다. 그분께서 하늘들을 막같이 펼치시고 그 안에 거할 천막같이 그것들을 펴시는도다.
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23 이는 통치자들을 아무 쓸모 없게 만드시려 함이라. 그분께서 땅의 판관들을 헛것같이 만드시는도다.
23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24 진정 그들은 심기지 못할 것이요, 진정 그들은 뿌려지지 못할 것이며, 진정 그들의 원줄기는 땅속에 뿌리를 내리지 못하리라. 또한 그분께서 그들 위에 바람을 부시리니, 그리하면 그들은 시들 것이요, 회오리바람이 그루터기같이 그들을 제거하리라.
24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25 그렇다면 너희는 나를 누구와 견주겠느냐? 또는 내가 누구와 동등하겠느냐? 거룩한 이가 말하노라.
25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26 너희의 눈을 높이 들어 올리라. 그리고 누가 이러한 것들을 창조하여 그들의 군대를 수효대로 내놓는지 보라. 그분께서 권능에 있어 강하시기에 그분께서는 자신의 막강한 위대하심으로 그들을 모두 이름들대로 불러내시나니, 하나도 빠지지 아니하는도다.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27 오, 야곱아, 어찌하여 네가 말하며, 오, 이스라엘아, 어찌하여 네가 이르기를, “나의 길이 주께로부터 숨겨지니, 나의 공의가 나의 하나님으로부터 떠나 넘겨지는도다.” 하느냐?
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 ¶ 네가 몰랐더냐? 영원하신 하나님인 주, 곧 땅 끝들의 창조주는 기진하지 아니하시며 지치지도 아니하신다는 것을 네가 듣지 아니하였더냐? 그분의 명철은 헤아릴 수 없도다.
28 ¶ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 그분께서 기진한 자들에게 기력을 주시는도다. 또 기운이 없는 자들에게 힘을 늘리시는도다.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 젊은이들이라도 기진하고 지칠 것이요, 청년들도 완전히 쓰러지리라.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 그러나 주를 고대하는 자들은 자신들의 힘을 새롭게 하리라. 그들은 독수리들같이 날개들로 치솟으리라. 그들은 달려도 지치지 아니할 것이요, 또 그들은 걸어도 기진하지 아니하리라.
31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
