아모스 5장

1 오, 이스라엘 집아, 너희는 내가 너희를 대적하여 지은 이 말, 바로 애가를 들으라.

1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.

2 처녀 이스라엘이 쓰러졌도다. 그녀가 더 이상 일어나지 못하리라. 그녀는 그녀의 영토 위에서 버림을 받았도다. 그녀를 일으켜 세울 자가 아무도 없도다.

2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

3 이는 주 하나님이 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 이스라엘 집에는 일천 명이 나아가던 도시가 일백 명이 남을 것이요, 일백 명이 나아가던 도시가 열 명이 남으리라.

3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.

4 ¶ 이는 주가 이스라엘 집에 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 너희는 나를 찾으라. 그리하면 너희는 살리라.

4 ¶ For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:

5 그러나 벧엘을 찾지 말고, 길갈로 들어가지도 말며, 베르셰바로 통행하지 말라. 이는 길갈이 반드시 포로로 끌려가고 벧엘이 무로 돌아갈 것이기 때문이라.

5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.

6 주를 찾으라. 그리하면 너희는 살리라. 그렇지 아니하면 그가 요셉의 집 안에서 화재처럼 발발하여 그것을 집어삼키고 벧엘에서 그것을 끌 자가 아무도 없을까 함이라.

6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.

7 공의를 쑥으로 바꾸고 의를 땅 가운데서 걷어치우는 너희여,

7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,

8 일곱 별들과 오리온을 만들고 사망의 그림자를 아침으로 바꾸며 밤으로 낮을 어둡게 만드는 이요, 바닷물들을 부르고 그것들을 땅의 표면 위에 쏟는 그를 찾으라. 주가 그의 이름이로다.

8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

9 그는 약탈당한 자를 강건하게 하여 강한 자를 대적하게 하나니, 그렇게 하여 그 약탈당한 자가 견고한 요새를 대적하여 가게 하는도다.

9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.

10 그들이 대문에서 꾸짖는 자를 증오하나니, 그들은 올바르게 말하는 자를 혐오하는도다.

10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

11 그러므로 너희의 짓밟음이 가난한 자 위에 있고 너희가 그에게서 밀의 무거운 세들을 취하기 때문에, 너희가 다듬어진 돌로 집들을 건축하였을지라도 너희는 그곳들 안에서 거하지 못할 것이요, 너희가 기쁨을 주는 포도원들을 세웠으나 너희는 그것들의 포도즙을 마시지 못하리라.

11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.

12 이는 너희의 다양한 불법들과 너희의 막대한 죄들을 내가 알기 때문이라. 그들은 의인을 괴롭히고, 그들은 청탁물을 취하며, 그들은 성문 안에서 가난한 자들을 그들의 권리에서 제쳐 두는도다.

12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

13 그러므로 신중한 자는 그때에 잠잠하리라. 이는 그때가 악한 때이기 때문이라.

13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

14 너희가 살기 위해서는 선을 구하고 악을 구하지 말라. 그리하면 너희가 말한 대로 이처럼 만군의 하나님인 주가 너희와 함께 있으리라.

14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

15 악을 증오하고 선을 사랑하라. 그리고 성문 안에서 공의를 확립하라. 아마도 만군의 주 하나님이 요셉의 남은 자들을 은혜롭게 대하리라.

15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

16 그러므로 주가, 만군의 하나님인 주가 이같이 말하노라. 모든 거리들 가운데 통곡이 있을 것이요, 그들이 모든 대로들 가운데서 말하기를, “아, 슬프도다! 아, 슬프도다!” 할 것이요, 그들이 애곡하도록 농부를 부르며, 통곡하는 애가에 능숙한 자들도 부르리라.

16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

17 그리고 모든 포도원들 안에 통곡이 있으리라. 이는 내가 너를 통과할 것이기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.

17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.

18 주의 날을 갈망하는 너희에게 화가 있기를 바라노라! 무슨 취지로 그것이 너희를 위하여 존재하겠느냐? 주의 날은 어둠이지, 빛이 아니니라.

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

19 마치 어떤 사람이 사자에게서 도망하였는데 곰이 그를 맞닥뜨렸거나, 집 안으로 들어가서 그의 손을 벽에 기댔다가 뱀이 그를 문 것과 같으니라.

19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

20 주의 날은 빛이 아닌 어둠이 아니겠느냐? 심지어 몹시 어두워서 그날에는 광명이 전혀 없지 않겠느냐?

20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

21 나는 증오하노니, 내가 너희의 명절날들을 멸시하는도다. 그리하여 내가 너희의 엄숙한 집회들 가운데서 흠향하지 아니하겠노라.

21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

22 비록 너희가 나에게 번제물들과 너희의 음식 제물들을 바친다 하여도 나는 그것들을 기꺼이 받아들이지 아니하겠노라. 또한 내가 너희의 살진 짐승들로 이루어진 화평 제물들도 중시하지 아니하겠노라.

22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

23 너는 너의 노래들의 소음을 나에게서 제거하라. 이는 내가 너의 비올들의 곡조를 듣지 아니할 것이기 때문이라.

23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

24 오직 공의가 물들같이, 의가 힘찬 물줄기같이 흘러내리게 하라.

24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

25 오, 이스라엘 집아, 너희가 사십 년 동안 광야에서 희생 제물들과 제물들을 나에게 바친 적이 있느냐?

25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

26 그러나 너희는 너희의 형상들인 몰록과 키운의 장막을 떠받쳤으니, 너희가 너희 자신에게 만들어 둔 너희 신의 별이라.

26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

27 그러므로 내가 너희를 다마스쿠스 너머에 포로로 끌려가게 하겠노라. 그의 이름이 만군의 하나님인 주가 말하노라.

27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
