여호수아기 24장

1 이후에 여호수아가 이스라엘의 모든 지파들을 셰켐에 모으고 이스라엘의 장로들과 그들의 수장들과 그들의 판관들과 그들의 관원들을 불렀으니, 그들이 자신들을 하나님 앞에 나타내 보였더라.

1 And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

2 그러자 여호수아가 모든 백성에게 이같이 말하였더라. “이스라엘의 주 하나님께서 이와 같이 말하노라. ‘너희의 조상들이 옛적에 그 하천의 건너편에 거하였으니, 곧 아브라함의 아버지요, 나콜의 아버지인 테라라. 그런데 그들은 다른 신들을 섬겼도다.

2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

3 그리하여 내가 너희의 조상 아브라함을 그 하천의 건너편에서 데려다가 가나안의 온 지역을 통틀어 그를 이끌었으며, 그의 씨를 번성하게 하여 그에게 이삭을 주었도다.

3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

4 그리고 나는 이삭에게 야곱과 에서를 주었느니라. 그리고 내가 에서에게는 세일산을 주어 그곳을 차지하게 하였도다. 그러나 야곱과 그의 자녀들은 이집트로 내려갔느니라.

4 And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

5 내가 또한 모세와 아론을 보내었도다. 그리고 내가 친히 그들 가운데 행한 대로 이집트에 재앙을 내렸느니라. 그러고 난 후에 내가 너희를 데리고 나왔도다.

5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.

6 그리고 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트에서 데리고 나왔노라. 그런데 너희가 바다에 이르렀도다. 그리고 이집트인들이 병거들과 기병들을 거느리고 너희 조상들을 추격하여 홍해에 이르렀느니라.

6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.

7 그런즉 그들이 주께 부르짖었을 때 그가 너희와 이집트인들 사이에 어둠을 두었고, 그들 위로 바다를 가져와서 그들을 덮었노라. 그리하여 너희의 눈이 내가 이집트에서 행한 것을 보았도다. 그러고 나서 너희는 오랜 시기 동안 광야 가운데 지냈느니라.

7 And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.

8 그리고 내가 너희를 요르단 건너편에 거하던 아모리족들의 지역으로 데리고 들어갔노라. 그런즉 그들이 너희와 싸웠도다. 그런데 내가 너희의 손안에 그들을 주었으니, 너희로 하여금 그들의 영토를 차지하게 하려 함이라. 그런즉 내가 그들을 너희 앞에서 멸하였노라.

8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

9 그때 모압 왕, 집폴의 아들 발락이 들고일어나서 이스라엘을 대적하여 전쟁을 하였으니, 사람을 보내서 브올의 아들 발라암을 불러 너희를 저주하게 하였도다.

9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:

10 그러나 내가 발라암에게 경청하려 하지 아니하였도다. 그러므로 그가 너희를 계속 축복하였느니라. 그렇게 하여 내가 너희를 그의 손에서 구출하였노라.

10 But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

11 그리고 너희가 요르단을 건너가서 예리코로 왔도다. 그런즉 예리코의 사람들이 너희를 대적하여 싸웠으니, 아모리족들과 프리즈족들과 가나안족들과 히타이트족들과 기르가시족들과 히위족들과 여부스족들이라. 그리고 내가 그들을 너희의 손안에 넘겼노라.

11 And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.

12 그런즉 내가 너희 앞에 말벌을 보냈으니, 그것은 너희의 앞에서 그들, 곧 아모리족들의 두 왕들을 내쫓았도다. 그러나 그것은 너의 칼로 한 것이 아니었고 너의 활로 한 것도 아니었느니라.

12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

13 그리고 너희가 수고하지 아니한 한 지역과 너희가 건축하지 아니한 도시들을 내가 너희에게 주었으니, 너희가 그곳들 안에서 거하고 있노라. 너희가 세우지 아니한 포도원들과 올리브 밭들에서 너희가 먹고 있도다.’

13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

14 ¶ 그러므로 이제 주를 두려워하고 성실함과 진리 안에서 그분을 섬기라. 그리고 너희의 조상들이 하천의 건너편과 이집트에서 섬겼던 신들을 치워 버리라. 그런즉 너희는 주를 섬기라.

14 ¶ Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

15 그리고 만일 주를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 악하게 보인다면, 너희는 이날 너희가 섬길 자를 선택하라. 하천의 건너편에서 너희 조상들이 섬겼던 신들이든지 아니면 너희가 거하는 지역에 있는 아모리족들의 신들이든지 선택하라. 그러나 나와 내 집으로 말하자면 우리는 주를 섬기겠노라.”

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16 그러자 백성이 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “저희가 주를 버리고 다른 신들을 섬기는 것을 하나님께서 금하시기를 바라나이다.

16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17 이는 주 우리 하나님께서는 저희와 우리 조상들을 이집트 지역에서, 곧 속박의 집에서 데리고 올라오신 분이기 때문이니, 그분께서 저희의 목전에서 그 위대한 표적들을 행하셨고 저희가 갔던 모든 길 가운데서, 또 저희가 통과한 모든 이들 사이에서 저희를 보존하셨나이다.

17 For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

18 그리고 주께서 저희 앞에서 모든 이들, 곧 그 지역 가운데서 거하던 아모리족들을 내쫓으셨나이다. 그러므로 저희도 주를 섬기겠나이다. 이는 그분께서는 우리의 하나님이시기 때문이니이다.”

18 And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.

19 그러자 여호수아가 백성에게 이같이 말하였더라. “너희는 주를 섬길 수 없도다. 이는 그분께서는 거룩하신 한 하나님이시요, 그분께서는 질투하시는 한 하나님이며, 그분께서는 너희의 불법들도 너희의 죄들도 용서하지 아니하실 것이기 때문이라.

19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

20 만일 너희가 주를 저버리고 타국 신들을 섬긴다면, 그때 그분께서는 친히 너희에게 선을 행하신 이후에도 돌이키시어 너희에게 해를 입히시고 너희를 진멸하시리라.”

20 If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

21 그리고 백성이 여호수아에게 말하기를, “아니니이다. 오직 저희는 주를 섬기겠나이다.” 하였더라.

21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

22 그러자 여호수아가 백성에게 말하기를, “너희가 너희를 위하여 주를 선택하고 그분을 섬기리라고 한 것에 대하여 너희는 스스로를 거슬러 증인들이라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그들이 말하기를, “저희가 증인들이니이다.” 하였더라.

22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23 그가 말하기를, “그러므로 이제 너희 가운데 있는 타국 신들을 치워 버리고 너희의 마음을 이스라엘의 주 하나님께로 기울이라.” 하였더라.

23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

24 그러자 백성이 여호수아에게 말하기를, “저희가 주 우리 하나님을 섬기겠나이다. 그리고 그분의 음성에 저희가 순종하겠나이다.” 하였더라.

24 And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

25 그렇게 하여 여호수아가 그날에 백성과 함께 언약을 맺었고 셰켐에서 그들에게 규례와 법령을 두었더라.

25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

26 ¶ 그런 다음에 여호수아가 이 말씀들을 하나님의 율법 책 안에 기록하였으니, 커다란 돌을 취하여 그것을 거기 주의 성소 옆에 있던 상수리나무 아래에 세워 놓았더라.

26 ¶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27 그러면서 여호수아가 모든 백성에게 말하기를, “보라, 이 돌이 우리에게 증거가 되리라. 이는 그것이 그분께서 우리에게 이야기하신 주의 모든 말씀들을 들었기 때문이라. 그러므로 그것이 너희에게 증거가 되리니, 너희가 너희의 하나님을 부인하지 않게 하려 함이라.” 하였더라.

27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.

28 그렇게 하여 여호수아가 백성을 떠나가게 하였으니, 모든 사람이 저마다 자기 유산으로 떠났더라.

28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.

29 ¶ 그리고 이 일들 후에 다음과 같은 일이 있었으니, 주의 종, 눈의 아들 여호수아가 일백십 세에 죽었더라.

29 ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

30 그러자 그들은 그를 팀낫세라에 있는 그의 유산의 경계 안에 장사하였으니, 그곳은 에프라임산 속에 있고 가아시의 언덕 북편에 있느니라.

30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.

31 그리고 이스라엘이 여호수아의 모든 날들과 여호수아보다 오래 산 장로들, 곧 그분께서 이스라엘을 위하여 행하신 주의 모든 역사들을 알았던 자들의 모든 날들에 주를 섬겼더라.

31 And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.

32 ¶ 그리고 이스라엘 자녀들이 이집트에서 가져온 요셉의 뼈들을 그들이 셰켐에 장사하였으니, 곧 야곱이 셰켐의 아버지 하몰의 아들들에게서 은화 일백 개로 매입하였던 한 필지의 경지에 장사하였더라. 그리하여 그것이 요셉의 자녀들의 유산이 되었더라.

32 ¶ And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

33 그러고 나서 아론의 아들 엘르아잘이 죽었더라. 그리하여 그들이 그를 그의 아들 피느하스에게 귀속되어 있는 언덕 속에 장사하였으니, 그곳은 에프라임산 속에서 그에게 주어진 곳이었더라.

33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
