에스더기 5장
1 이제 셋째 날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 에스더가 그녀의 왕실 복장을 입고 왕의 집의 맞은편인, 왕의 집의 안뜰 안에 섰더라. 그리고 왕은 그 집의 대문 맞은편에서 궁정 안에 있는 그의 보좌 위에 앉아 있었더라.
1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
2 그러자 왕이 왕비 에스더가 뜰 안에 서 있는 것을 보았을 때 이와 같은 일이 있었으니, 그녀가 그의 목전에 호의를 얻어 냈더라. 그런즉 왕이 에스더에게 자신의 손에 있던 금 왕홀을 내밀었더라. 그렇게 하여 에스더가 가까이 다가가서 왕홀의 윗부분을 만졌더라.
2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
3 그때 왕이 그녀에게 말하기를, “왕비 에스더여, 그대가 무엇을 원하는가? 그리고 그대의 요청이 무엇인가? 왕국의 절반이라도 그것이 그대에게 주어질 것이라.” 하였더라.
3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
4 그러자 에스더가 대답하기를, “만일 그것이 왕께 좋아 보이신다면, 이날 왕과 하만이 제가 그를 위하여 마련한 연회에 오도록 하소서.” 하였더라.
4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
5 그때 왕이 말하기를, “에스더가 말한 대로 하만이 행하도록 그를 서두르게 하라.” 하였더라. 그렇게 하여 왕과 하만이 에스더가 마련한 연회에 왔더라.
5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
6 ¶ 그리고 포도즙의 연회에서 왕이 에스더에게 말하기를, “그대의 청원이 무엇인가? 그리하면 그것이 그대에게 승인될 것이라. 또 그대의 요청이 무엇인가? 왕국의 절반이라도 그것이 이행될 것이라.” 하였더라.
6 ¶ And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.
7 그때 에스더가 대답하여 이같이 말하였더라. “저의 청원과 저의 요청은 이러하나이다.
7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;
8 만일 제가 왕의 목전에서 호의를 발견하였다면, 그리고 저의 청원을 승인하는 것과 저의 요청을 이행하는 것이 왕을 기쁘게 해 드린다면, 왕과 하만이 제가 두 분을 위하여 마련할 연회에 오도록 하소서. 그리하면 제가 내일 왕께서 말씀하신 대로 하겠나이다.”
8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.
9 ¶ 그러자 그날 하만이 즐거움으로 충만하여 흡족한 마음으로 나갔더라. 그러나 하만이 왕의 대문 안에 있는 모르드캐를 보았을 때 그가 일어서지도 아니하고 자신을 위하여 움직이지도 아니하므로 그가 모르드캐를 대적하는 격분으로 가득 찼더라.
9 ¶ Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.
10 그럼에도 불구하고 하만이 스스로 자제하였더라. 그리고 그가 집에 도착하였을 때 그는 사람을 보내서 자신의 친구들과 자신의 아내 제레시를 불러왔더라.
10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
11 그리고 하만이 그들에게 그의 재물들의 영광과 그의 자식들이 많은 것과 왕이 자신을 높인 모든 것들과 어떻게 그가 통치자들과 왕의 종들보다 높이 그를 승진시켰는지를 말하였더라.
11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.
12 하만이 이에 더하여 이같이 말하였더라. “진정, 왕비 에스더가 자신이 마련한 연회에 나 외에는 아무도 왕과 함께 들어오지 못하게 하였도다. 그런즉 내일도 내가 왕과 함께 그녀에게 초대를 받았노라.
12 Haman said moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her also with the king.
13 그럼에도 내가 왕의 대문에 앉아 있는 유대인 모르드캐를 보는 동안만큼은 이 모든 일이 나에게 아무 소용이 없도다.”
13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.
14 ¶ 그때 그의 아내 제레시와 그의 모든 친구들이 그에게 말하기를, “교수대 하나를 오십 큐빗 높이로 제작되게 하여 모르드캐가 그 위에 매달리도록 내일 네가 왕께 고하라. 그런 다음에 너는 왕과 함께 기분 좋게 연회로 들어가라.” 하였더라. 그러자 그것이 하만을 기쁘게 하였더라. 그런즉 그는 교수대가 제작되게 하였더라.
14 ¶ Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
