에스더기 9장

1 이제 아달 월인 열두째 달, 같은 달 십삼 일에 왕의 명령과 그의 칙령이 집행되는 날이 가까이 다가왔으니, 곧 유대인들의 원수들이 그들 위에 권세를 가지려고 소망하였던 날이더라. (하지만 반대로 바뀌어 유대인들이 자신들을 증오하던 자들을 주관하게 되었더라.)

1 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)

2 아하수에루스왕의 모든 속주들을 통틀어 그들의 모든 도시들 안에 있는 유대인들이 스스로 함께 모였으니, 자신들에게 해를 입히기를 모색하던 자들에게 손을 대려 함이더라. 그런데 아무도 그들을 대항할 수 없었으니, 그들에 대한 두려움이 모든 백성들 위에 임했기 때문이라.

2 The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.

3 그리고 속주들의 모든 치리자들과 부관들과 속주 총독들과 왕의 관원들이 유대인들을 도왔더라. 이는 모르드캐에 대한 두려움이 그들 위에 임했기 때문이라.

3 And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.

4 이는 모르드캐가 왕의 집 안에서 위대하였고 그의 명성이 모든 속주들 도처에 나갔기 때문이요, 이 사람 모르드캐가 점점 더 위대해졌기 때문이라.

4 For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.

5 이와 같이 유대인들이 칼을 휘둘러 살육과 멸망으로 그들의 모든 원수들을 쳤으며, 그들이 하려던 것을 자신들을 증오하던 자들에게 행하였더라.

5 Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.

6 그리하여 유대인들이 슈샨궁 안에서 오백 명의 사람들을 살해하고 멸하였더라.

6 And in Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.

7 그리고 파샨다다와 달폰과 아스파다와

7 And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,

8 포라다와 아달리아와 아리다다와

8 And Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,

9 파마슈타와 아리사이와 아리다이와 와예자다,

9 And Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,

10 곧 유대인들의 원수이자 함므다다의 아들인 하만의 아들들 열 명을 그들이 살해하였더라. 그러나 그들이 약탈품에는 자신들의 손을 대지 아니하였더라.

10 The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on the spoil laid they not their hand.

11 그날에 슈샨궁 안에서 살해된 자들의 수가 왕 앞에 보고되었더라.

11 On that day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought before the king.

12 ¶ 그리고 왕이 왕비 에스더에게 말하기를, “유대인들이 슈샨궁 안에서 오백 명의 사람들과 하만의 아들들 열 명을 살해하고 멸하였으니, 왕의 나머지 속주들에서는 그들이 무엇을 행하였겠는가? 이제 그대의 청원이 무엇인가? 그리하면 그것이 그대에게 승인될 것이라. 또한 그대가 더 요청할 것이 무엇인가? 그리하면 그것이 이루어질 것이라.” 하였더라.

12 ¶ And the king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in the rest of the king's provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.

13 그때 에스더가 말하기를, “만일 그것이 왕을 기쁘게 해 드린다면, 슈샨에 있는 유대인들에게 이날의 칙령대로 내일도 행할 수 있도록 승인하여 주시고, 하만의 아들들 열 명이 교수대 위에 매달리도록 허락하소서.” 하였더라.

13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

14 그러자 왕이 그것이 그렇게 이루어지도록 명령하였더니 칙령이 슈샨에 주어졌더라. 그리하여 그들이 하만의 아들들 열 명을 매달았더라.

14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.

15 이는 슈샨에 있던 유대인들이 아달 월 십사 일에도 스스로 함께 모여 슈샨에 있던 삼백 명의 사람들을 살해하였기 때문이라. 그러나 그들이 전리품에는 그들의 손을 대지 아니하였더라.

15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.

16 그러나 왕의 속주들에 있던 다른 유대인들은 스스로 함께 모여 그들의 생명들을 위하여 일어섰고 그들의 원수들로부터 안식을 얻었으며 그들의 적들 중 칠만 오천 명을 살해하였으나 그들이 전리품에는 그들의 손을 대지 아니하였으니,

16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,

17 아달 월 십삼 일에 그리하였더라. 그리고 그들이 같은 달 십사 일에 안식하였고 그날을 잔칫날과 희열의 날로 삼았더라.

17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

18 그러나 슈샨에 있던 유대인들은 그달 십삼 일과 그달 십사 일에 함께 집결하였더라. 그리고 같은 달 십오 일에 그들이 안식하였으니, 그날을 잔칫날과 희열의 날로 삼았더라.

18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

19 그러므로 촌락들의 유대인들, 곧 성벽이 둘러지지 않은 마을들에 거하던 자들은 아달 월 십사 일을 희열의 날이자 잔칫날이요, 좋은 날이요, 서로 자기 몫의 음식들을 보내는 날로 삼았더라.

19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

20 ¶ 이후에 모르드캐가 이런 일들을 기록하였고, 가깝든지 멀든지 아하수에루스왕의 모든 속주들에 있던 유대인들 모두에게 편지들을 보냈는데

20 ¶ And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,

21 그들 사이에 이것을 확립하고자 함이니, 곧 그들이 매년 아달 월 십사 일과 바로 그달 십오 일을 지키되

21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,

22 유대인들이 자신들의 원수들로부터 안식한 날들로 지키고, 그들에게 슬픔에서 즐거움으로, 애곡에서 좋은 날로 바뀐 달로 지키라는 것이라. 이는 그들로 하여금 그날들을 잔칫날들과 희열의 날들과, 서로 자기 몫의 음식들을 보내는 날들과 가난한 자들에게 선물들을 보내는 날들로 삼게 하려 함이라.

22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.

23 이에 유대인들은 그들이 시작한 대로, 또 모르드캐가 그들에게 기록한 대로 행하는 것을 수락하였더라.

23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;

24 이는 모든 유대인들의 원수, 아각족 함므다다의 아들 하만이 유대인들을 대적하여 그들을 멸하려고 계책을 고안하였고, 푸르, 곧 제비를 던져서 그들을 진멸시키고 그들을 멸하려 하였기 때문이라.

24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;

25 그러나 에스더가 왕 앞에 갔을 때, 유대인들을 대적하여 하만이 고안한 그의 사악한 계책이 자기 자신의 머리 위로 되돌려져야 할 것과, 그와 그의 아들들이 교수대 위에 매달려야 할 것을 왕이 편지들을 통하여 명령하였더라.

25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

26 이러한 이유로 그들이 이날들을 푸르의 이름을 따라 푸림이라 불렀더라. 그러므로 이 편지들의 모든 말들과 그들이 이 사건에 관하여 보았던 것, 곧 그들에게 임한 일에 대한 모든 말들로 인하여

26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,

27 유대인들이 이것을 제정하였고, 그들과 그들의 씨와 그들에게 스스로 합류한 모든 자들 위에 그것이 그처럼 끊기지 않도록 할 것을 받아들였으니, 곧 그들로 하여금 그들의 문서에 따라, 또 그들의 지정된 때에 따라 매년 이 두 날들을 지키게 하려 함이요,

27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;

28 이날들이 각각의 세대와 각각의 족속과 각각의 속주와 각각의 도시에 걸쳐 기억되고 지켜지게 하려 함이요, 이 푸림의 날들이 유대인들 사이에서 끊기지 않게 하려 함이요, 그것들의 기념도 그들의 씨로부터 사라지지 않게 하려 함이라.

28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.

29 그때 아비하일의 딸 왕비 에스더와 유대인 모르드캐가 모든 권위를 가지고 기록하여 푸림에 관한 이 두 번째 편지를 확정하였더라.

29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

30 그런 다음에 그가 모든 유대인들과, 아하수에루스 왕국의 일백이십칠 개의 속주들에 화평과 진리의 말들로 그 편지들을 보내어

30 And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,

31 그들의 지정된 때들에 이 푸림의 날들을 확정하였으니, 유대인 모르드캐와 왕비 에스더가 그들에게 하명했던 것에 따라, 곧 그들이 그들 자신을 위하여 또 그들의 씨를 위하여 금식들을 행하고 그들이 부르짖는 일들을 칙령으로 정했던 것에 따라 확정하였더라.

31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.

32 그리하여 에스더의 칙령이 푸림에 관한 이 일들을 확정하였더라. 그리고 그것이 책 안에 기록되었더라.

32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.
