요한복음 6장

1 이 일들이 있은 후에 예수님께서 티베리아스 바다인 갈릴리 바다로 건너가셨더라.

1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 그리고 수많은 무리가 그분을 따랐으니, 그분께서 질병에 걸린 자들 위에 행하신 그분의 기적들을 그들이 목격한 까닭이라.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 이후에 예수님께서 산속으로 올라가셨고 거기에서 친히 자신의 제자들과 함께 앉으셨더라.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 그런데 유대인들의 명절인 유월절이 가까웠더라.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 ¶ 그때 예수님께서 자신의 두 눈을 드시어, 커다란 집단이 자신에게 나아오는 것을 보시고는 그분께서 빌립에게 말씀하시기를, “이 많은 이들이 먹을 수 있으려면 우리가 어디에서 빵을 사야겠느냐?” 하시니라.

5 ¶ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 그런데 그분께서 이렇게 말씀하신 것은 그를 확인해 보시기 위해서였더라. 이는 그분께서 자신이 행하시려는 일을 친히 아셨기 때문이라.

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 빌립이 그분께 대답하였으니, “그들 모두에게 저마다 조금씩만 갖게 하여도 이백 페니³에 해당하는 빵이 그들에게는 충분하지 아니하나이다.” 하였더라.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 그분의 제자들 중 하나인 시몬 베드로의 형제 안드레가 그분께 이같이 말씀드리니라.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 “여기에 한 소년이 있는데 그에게는 다섯 덩이의 보리 빵과 두 마리의 작은 물고기가 있나이다. 그러나 이렇게 많은 이들 가운데 그것들이 무엇이겠나이까?”

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 그러자 예수님께서 말씀하시기를, “사람들을 앉히라.” 하셨느니라. 이때 그 장소에는 풀이 많이 있었더라. 그렇게 하여 사람들이 앉았는데 그 수가 약 오천 명이었더라.

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 그러고 나서 예수님께서 빵 덩이들을 집으셨으며, 그분께서 감사들을 드리신 후에 친히 제자들에게 나누어 주셨고, 제자들은 앉아 있던 자들에게 나누어 주었으니, 물고기들도 마찬가지로 그들이 바라는 만큼 나누어 주었더라.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 그들의 배가 채워진 후에 그분께서 자신의 제자들에게 말씀하시기를, “잃어버리는 것이 아무것도 없도록 남아 있는 빵 조각들을 다 모으라.” 하셨느니라.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 그러므로 그들이 그것들을 한데 모았는데, 먹은 자들이 충분히 넘치게 먹고 남긴, 보리 빵 다섯 덩이에서 나온 조각들이 열두 바구니를 채웠더라.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 그때 그 사람들이 예수님께서 행하신 기적을 보자 그들은 말하기를, “이분은 참으로 세상 속으로 오셔야 할 그 예언자시라.” 하였더라.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 ¶ 그러므로 예수님께서는 그들이 와서 자신을 왕으로 삼기 위해 자신을 강제로 데려갈 것을 아셨을 때, 그분 자신만이 홀로 어떤 산속으로 다시 떠나셨더라.

15 ¶ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16 그리고 이제 저녁이 되자 그분의 제자들이 바다로 내려갔으며

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 선박 안으로 들어갔고 바다를 건너서 가버나움을 향하였더라. 그리고 이제 어두워졌는데 예수님께서는 그들에게 오지 아니하셨더라.

17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 그리고 엄청난 바람이 불었기 때문에 바닷물이 일어났더라.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 그러므로 그들이 약 이십오 내지 삼십 펄롱⁴ 만큼 저어 갔을 때, 그 선박 가까이로 바다 위를 걸어서 다가오시는 예수님을 그들이 보았더라. 그러자 그들이 무서워하였더라.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 그러나 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “나로다. 무서워하지 말라.” 하시니라.

20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 그때 그들이 그분을 기꺼이 그 선박 안으로 모셨더라. 그러자 즉시 그 선박이 그들이 가던 그 지역에 이르렀더라.

21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 ¶ 이튿날 그때 바다 건너편에 서 있던 백성은 그분의 제자들이 탔던 것 외에 다른 배가 거기에 전혀 없었다는 것과 예수님께서 그분의 제자들과 함께 그 배 안으로 들어가지 않으셨다는 것과 다만 그분의 제자들이 따로 간 것을 보았더라.

22 ¶ The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (하지만 주께서 감사들을 드리신 뒤에 그들이 빵을 먹었던 장소에서 가까운 티베리아스에서부터 다른 배들이 왔더라.)

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 그러므로 백성이 예수님도 그분의 제자들도 거기에 계시지 않은 것을 보았을 때, 그들 역시 선박을 잡아탄 뒤 예수님을 찾아 가버나움으로 왔더라.

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 그리고 그들이 바다의 건너편에서 그분을 발견하였을 때 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “랍비여, 당신께서 언제 여기로 오셨나이까?” 하였더라.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘너희가 나를 찾은 것은 너희가 기적들을 본 까닭이 아니라 다만 너희가 빵 덩이들을 먹고 배가 채워진 까닭이라.

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 썩어 없어지는 음식을 위하여 수고하지 말고 다만 영원한 생명에까지 지속되는 음식을 위하여 수고하라. 인자가 그 음식을 너희에게 주리니, 이는 하나님 아버지께서 그를 확증하셨기 때문이라.’”

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 그때 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “우리가 하나님의 일들을 수행하려면 우리는 무엇을 하여야 하리이까?” 하였더라.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 예수님께서 대답하여 그들에게 말씀하시기를, “이것이 하나님의 일이니, 그분께서 보내신 이를 너희가 믿는 것이라.” 하셨느니라.

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 그러므로 그들이 그분께 이같이 말씀드렸더라. “그렇다면 우리가 보고 당신을 믿을 수 있도록 당신께서 무슨 표적을 보이시나이까? 당신께서 무슨 일을 하시나이까?

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 우리의 조상들은 사막 가운데서 만나를 먹었나이다. 기록된 바와 같으니, ‘그가 하늘로부터 온 빵을 그들에게 먹으라고 주었더라.’ 하였나이다.”

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 그때 예수님께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘모세가 하늘로부터 그 빵을 너희에게 준 것이 아니니라. 그러나 나의 아버지께서는 하늘로부터 참된 빵을 너희에게 주시는도다.’

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 이는 하나님의 빵이 하늘로부터 내려온 자요, 세상에 생명을 주는 자이기 때문이라.”

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 그때 그들이 그분께 말씀드리기를, “주여, 우리에게 언제나 이 빵을 주소서.” 하였더라.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 그러자 예수님께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “나는 생명의 빵이라. 나에게 오는 자는 결코 배고프지 아니할 것이요, 나를 믿는 자는 결코 목마르지 아니하리라.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 그러나 내가 너희에게 ‘너희가 나를 보았는데도 믿지 아니하느니라.’ 하였도다.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 아버지께서 나에게 주시는 자는 모두 나에게 오리라. 그리고 나에게 오는 자는 내가 절대 쫓아내지 아니하리라.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 이는 내가 나 자신의 뜻을 행하려고 온 것이 아니요, 나를 보내신 분의 뜻을 행하려고 하늘로부터 왔기 때문이라.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 그리고 이것이 나를 보내신 아버지의 뜻이니, 곧 그분께서 나에게 주신 모든 것 중에서 내가 아무것도 잃어버리지 아니하고 다만 마지막 날에 다시 그것을 일으켜 세우는 것이라.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 그리고 이것이 나를 보내신 분의 뜻이니, 곧 아들을 보고 그를 믿는 모든 이마다 영원한 생명을 얻게 하려 하심이라. 그런즉 내가 그를 마지막 날에 일으켜 세우리라.”

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 그때 유대인들이 그분에 대하여 수군거렸더라. 이는 그분께서 말씀하시기를, “나는 하늘로부터 내려온 빵이라.” 하신 까닭이라.

41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 그리하여 그들이 말하기를, “이분은 요셉의 아들 예수님이 아니시냐? 그분의 아버지와 어머니를 우리가 알지 아니하냐? 그렇다면 그분께서 말씀하시기를, ‘나는 하늘로부터 내려왔다.’ 하시는 것은 어찌 된 일이냐?” 하였더라.

42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 그러므로 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하여 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “너희끼리 수군거리지 말라.

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 나를 보내신 아버지께서 그를 끌어 주지 아니하시면 아무도 내게 올 수 없느니라. 그런즉 내가 그를 마지막 날에 일으켜 세우리라.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 예언서들 안에 기록되기를, ‘그리고 그들이 모두 하나님께 가르침을 받으리라.’ 하였도다. 그러므로 아버지의 말씀을 듣고 아버지께 배운 모든 자마다 나에게 오느니라.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 어떤 사람도 아버지를 보지 못하였으나 하나님께로부터 난 자는 예외이니, 그는 아버지를 보았느니라.

46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47 진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, ‘나를 믿는 자는 영원한 생명이 있느니라.’

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48 나는 그 생명의 빵이라.

48 I am that bread of life.

49 너희 조상들은 광야 가운데서 만나를 먹었고 또 죽었느니라.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 이것은 하늘로부터 내려오는 빵이니, 사람이 그것을 먹고 죽지 않게 하려 함이라.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 나는 하늘로부터 내려온 살아 있는 빵이라. 누구든 이 빵을 먹는다면 그는 영원토록 살리라. 그리고 내가 줄 빵은 나의 살이요, 나는 세상의 생명을 위하여 그것을 주겠노라.”

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52 그러므로 유대인들이 자기들끼리 분쟁하며 말하기를, “어떻게 이 사람이 우리에게 자신의 살을 먹으라고 줄 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 그때 예수님께서 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “진실로, 진실로 내가 너희에게 말하노니, 너희가 인자의 살을 먹지 않고, 그의 피를 마시지 않는다면 너희는 너희 안에 생명이 전혀 없느니라.

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 나의 살을 먹고 나의 피를 마시는 자는 누구나 영생이 있느니라. 그런즉 내가 그를 마지막 날에 일으켜 세우리라.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 이는 나의 살이 진정한 음식이요, 나의 피가 진정한 음료이기 때문이라.

55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56 나의 살을 먹는 자와 나의 피를 마시는 자는 내 안에 거하고 나도 그 안에 거하느니라.

56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57 살아 계신 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것같이 그리고 내가 아버지에 의해서 사는 것같이 나를 먹는 자도 그러하나니, 곧 그는 나로 말미암아 살리라.

57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58 이것이 하늘로부터 내려온 그 빵이라. 너희의 조상들이 만나를 먹고 나서 죽은 것과 같지 아니하니라. 이 빵을 먹는 자는 영원토록 살리라.”

58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59 그분께서 가버나움에서 가르치시는 동안 회당 안에서 이런 것들을 말씀하셨더라.

59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60 그러므로 그분의 제자들 중 많은 이들이 이것을 들은 후에 그들이 말하기를, “이같이 말씀하신 것이 어렵도다. 누가 그것을 들을 수 있겠느냐?” 하였더라.

60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61 예수님께서 그분의 제자들이 그것에 대하여 불평한 것을 스스로 아셨을 때 친히 그들에게 이같이 말씀하셨느니라. “이것이 너희를 실족시키느냐?

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 그리하면 만일 인자가 자신이 이전에 있던 곳으로 올라가는 것을 너희가 보게 된다면 어떠하겠느냐?

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 되살아나게 하는 것은 영이라. 육신은 아무것도 유익하게 하지 아니하느니라. 내가 너희에게 전한 말들, 그것들은 영이요, 그것들은 생명이라.

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

64 그러나 너희 중 일부는 믿지 아니하는도다.” 이는 예수님께서 믿지 아니한 자들이 누구였는지와 누가 자신을 배반할지 초기부터 아셨기 때문이라.

64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

65 그러자 그분께서 말씀하시기를, “그러므로 내가 나의 아버지께로부터 그에게 주어진 것이 아니라면 아무도 내게 올 수 없다고 너희에게 말하였도다.” 하셨느니라.

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 ¶ 그때부터 그분의 제자들 중 많은 이들이 돌아갔으며 더는 그분과 동행하지 아니하였더라.

66 ¶ From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67 그때 예수님께서 열둘에게 말씀하시기를, “너희도 떠나가겠느냐?” 하셨느니라.

67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 그때 시몬 베드로가 그분께 대답하였느니라. “주여, 우리가 누구에게 가오리까? 당신께 영생의 말씀들이 있나이다.

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 그리고 우리는 당신께서 그 그리스도시요, 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이심을 믿으며 확신하나이다.”

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

70 예수님께서 그들에게 대답하시기를, “내가 너희 열둘을 선택하였는데 너희 중 하나는 마귀가 아니냐?” 하셨느니라.

70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 그분께서 시몬의 아들 유-다 이스카리옷에 관하여 말씀하셨더라. 이는 그가 열둘 중 한 명으로 그분을 배반할 자였기 때문이라.

71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
