1 이때 제사장 임멜의 아들 파스훌은 또한 주의 집 안에서 수석 총재였는데 예레미야가 이런 것들을 예언한 것을 들었더라.
1 Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 그때 파스훌이 예언자 예레미야를 쳤고 베냐민의 높은 대문 안에 있었던 차꼬들을 그에게 채웠는데 그 대문은 주의 집 옆에 있었더라.
2 Then Pashur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
3 그리고 이튿날에 이러한 일이 있었으니, 파스훌이 예레미야를 차꼬들에서 풀어주었더라. 그때 예레미야가 그에게 이같이 말하였더라. “주께서 너의 이름을 파스훌이라 부르지 아니하셨고 다만 마골밋사빕이라 부르셨노라.
3 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.
4 이는 주께서 이같이 말씀하시기 때문이라. 보라, 내가 너 자신과 너의 모든 친구들에게 너를 공포로 만들겠노라. 그리하여 그들이 자신들의 원수들의 칼에 의하여 쓰러지리니, 너의 두 눈이 그것을 목도하리라. 그리고 내가 온 유다를 바빌론 왕의 손안에 주겠노라. 그리하면 그가 그들을 포로로서 바빌론 안으로 옮겨갈 것이요, 그들을 칼로 살해하리라.
4 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 이뿐만 아니라 나는 이 도성의 모든 힘을 넘기겠으니, 그곳의 모든 수고들과, 그곳의 모든 귀한 것들과, 유다 왕들의 모든 보물들을 내가 그들의 원수들의 손안에 주겠노라. 그들은 그것들을 약탈하고 그것들을 빼앗으며 그것들을 바빌론으로 옮겨가리라.
5 Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 그리고 너, 파스훌과 너의 집 안에서 지내는 모든 자들은 포로로 끌려가리라. 그리하면 너는 바빌론으로 오리라. 너는 거기서 죽을 것이요, 거기서 매장되리라. 곧, 너와 너의 모든 친구들이 그리되리니, 그들에게 네가 거짓말들을 예언하였도다.”
6 And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt come to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied lies.
7 ¶ 오, 주여, 당신께서 저를 속이셨기에 제가 속았나이다. 당신께서 저보다 강하시기에 승리하셨나이다. 저는 매일 웃음거리가 되나니, 모든 이가 저마다 저를 조롱하나이다.
7 ¶ O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.
8 이는 제가 전한 뒤로 제가 외쳤기 때문이니, 저는 폭력과 약탈을 부르짖었나이다. 이는 주의 말씀이 저에게 매일 치욕과 웃음거리가 되었기 때문이니이다.
8 For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 그때 제가 말하기를, “나는 그분에 관하여 거론하지 아니하고, 더 이상 그분의 이름으로 말하지도 아니하겠노라.” 하였나이다. 그러나 그분의 말씀이 나의 마음속에서 마치 타는 불 같아서 나의 뼈들 속에 사무쳤으니, 내가 참기에 지쳤고 나는 가만히 있을 수 없었나이다.
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 ¶ 이는 제가 많은 이들의 헐뜯음과 사면에서 두렵게 하는 것을 들었기 때문이니이다. 그들이 말하기를, “전하라. 그리하면 우리도 그것을 전하겠노라.” 하나이다. 저와 친한 자들도 모두 제가 절뚝거리기만을 지켜보며 말하기를, “혹시라도 그가 유혹을 받게 되면 우리가 그를 대적하여 승리하자. 그리하여 우리가 그에게 우리의 보복을 하자.” 하나이다.
10 ¶ For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 그러나 주께서는 막강하시고 공포스러우신 분으로서 저와 함께 계시나이다. 그러므로 저를 박해하는 자들은 걸려 넘어질 것이요, 그들은 승리할 수 없으리이다. 그들은 대단히 부끄러워하리이다. 이는 그들이 번영하지 못할 것이기 때문이니이다. 그들의 영원한 당혹감은 결코 잊히지 아니하리이다.
11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 그러나 오, 의로운 자를 시험하시고 그 중심과 마음을 보시는 만군의 주여, 저로 하여금 그들 위에 임하는 당신의 복수를 보게 하소서. 이는 제가 당신께 저의 송사를 드러냈기 때문이니이다.
12 But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.
13 주께 노래하라. 너희는 주를 찬송하라. 이는 그분께서 행악자들의 손에서 가난한 자의 혼을 구출하셨기 때문이라.
13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 ¶ 내가 태어난 날이 저주받기를 바라노라. 나의 어머니가 나를 낳은 그날이 복을 받지 못하게 하라.
14 ¶ Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 나의 아버지에게 소식들을 가져가며 말하기를, “너에게 남자아이가 태어났도다.” 하여 그를 몹시 반기게 만들었던 그 사람이 저주받기를 바라노라.
15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.
16 그런즉 그 사람은 마치 주께서 뒤집어엎으시고 돌이키지 않으신 도시들같이 되리라. 그리고 그는 아침에는 부르짖음을, 정오 무렵에는 함성을 들으리라.
16 And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 이는 그가 나를 태에서부터 살해하지 아니하였기 때문이요, 혹은 나의 어머니가 나의 무덤이 되게 하여 그녀의 태가 나를 배어 항상 커다란 채 있도록 하지 아니하였기 때문이라.
17 Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
18 어찌 내가 태에서 나와 수고와 슬픔을 보며 나의 날들이 수치와 함께 소진되어야 하는가?
18 Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
