1 유다 왕 요시야의 아들 여호야킴의 통치 초기에 이 말씀이 주께로부터 임하였으니, 이같이 말씀하셨느니라.
1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying,
2 “주가 이같이 말하노라. 주의 집의 뜰 안에 서라. 그리고 주의 집 안에 경배하러 오는 유다의 모든 도시들에게 전하되, 내가 너에게 명령하여 그들에게 전하라고 하는 모든 말들을 전하라. 한 단어도 빼지 말라.
2 Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD'S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD'S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:
3 그들이 경청하여 모든 사람마다 자신의 악한 길에서 돌이킨다면, 만일 그렇다면, 나는 그들의 악한 행동거지들로 인하여 그들에게 행하리라고 결단한 해악으로부터 나 자신을 돌이키겠노라.
3 If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
4 그런즉 너는 그들에게 이같이 말하라. ‘주가 이같이 말하노라. 만일 너희가 나에게 경청하지 아니하여 내가 너희 앞에 세운 나의 율법 가운데 살아가려 하지 아니하고,
4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
5 예언자들인 나의 종들의 말들에 경청하라고 내가 일찍 일어나 그들을 너희에게 보내고 또 보내었으나 너희가 경청해 오지 아니하였다면,
5 To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;
6 그때 나는 이 집을 실로처럼 만들겠으니, 이 도시를 땅의 모든 민족들에게 저주로 삼겠노라.’”
6 Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
7 이에 예레미야가 주의 집에서 이 말들을 하였으니 제사장들과 예언자들과 온 백성이 듣더라.
7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.
8 ¶ 이제 예레미야가 주께서 온 백성에게 전하라고 자신에게 명령하신 모든 것을 전하는 것을 끝마쳤을 때 이러한 일이 있었으니, 제사장들과 예언자들과 온 백성이 그를 붙잡아 이같이 말하였더라. “너는 반드시 죽으리라.
8 ¶ Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.
9 어찌 네가 주의 이름으로 예언하여 말하기를, ‘이 집이 실로처럼 될 것이요, 이 도시가 황량해져서 거주자가 한 명도 없게 되리라.’ 하느냐?” 그리하여 온 백성이 주의 집 안에서 예레미야를 대적하여 모였더라.
9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
10 ¶ 유다의 통치자들이 이런 일들을 들었을 때 비로소 그들이 왕의 집에서 주의 집으로 올라왔고 주의 집의 새로운 문 출입구 안에 앉았더라.
10 ¶ When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king's house unto the house of the LORD, and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house.
11 그때 제사장들과 예언자들이 통치자들과 온 백성에게 일러 말하기를, “이 사람은 죽어 마땅하도다. 이는 너희가 너희의 귀로 들은 바와 같이 그가 이 도시를 대적하여 예언하였기 때문이라.” 하였더라.
11 Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.
12 ¶ 그때 예레미야가 모든 통치자들과 백성 전체에게 이같이 일러 말하였더라. “주께서 이 집을 대적하고 이 도시를 대적하여 너희가 들은 모든 말들을 예언하라고 나를 보내셨도다.
12 ¶ Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
13 그러므로 이제 너희 길들과 너희 행동거지들을 개선하고 주 너희 하나님의 음성에 순종하라. 그리하면 주께서 너희를 대적하여 천명하신 해악으로부터 그분께서 자신을 돌이키시리라.
13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
14 나로 말하자면, 보라, 나는 너희의 손안에 있도다. 너희가 보기에 좋고 온당한 대로 나에게 행하라.
14 As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.
15 그러나 너희는 명확히 알라. 만일 너희가 나를 사형에 처한다면 너희는 반드시 무고한 피를 너희 자신 위와 이 도시 위와 이곳의 거주자들 위에 가져오리라. 이는 참으로 주께서 이 모든 말씀들을 너희 귀에 전하라고 나를 너희에게 보내셨기 때문이라.”
15 But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
16 ¶ 그때 통치자들과 백성 전체가 제사장들과 예언자들에게 말하기를, “이 사람을 죽일 합당한 사유가 없도다. 이는 그가 주 우리 하나님의 이름으로 우리에게 전하였기 때문이라.” 하였더라.
16 ¶ Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.
17 그때 그 지역의 장로들 중 몇 사람이 일어나서 백성의 집회 전체에게 전하여 이같이 말하였더라.
17 Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,
18 “유다 왕 히스키야의 날들에 모라셋족 미가가 예언하였고 유다의 백성 전체에게 이같이 일러 말하기를, ‘만군의 주가 이같이 말하노라. 시온이 밭처럼 갈릴 것이요, 예루살렘이 무더기들로 변할 것이며, 그 집의 산은 숲의 높은 처소들같이 되리라.’ 하였도다.
18 Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
19 유다 왕 히스키야와 온 유다가 그를 아주 사형에 처하였느냐? 그가 주를 두려워하였고 주께 간청하였더니, 주께서 그들을 대적하여 천명하신 해악으로부터 그분께서 자신을 돌이키지 아니하셨느냐? 따라서 우리가 우리의 혼들을 대적하여 엄청난 해악을 초래할 수 있느니라.
19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
20 그리고 주의 이름으로 예언하였던 사람도 있었으니, 곧 키럇여아림 출신 셰마야의 아들 우리쟈니라. 그가 예레미야의 모든 말들에 따라 이 도시를 대적하고 이 지역을 대적하여 예언하였도다.
20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
21 그리하여 여호야킴왕과 그의 모든 막강한 남자들과 모든 통치자들이 그의 말들을 들었을 때, 왕이 그를 사형에 처하는 것을 모색하였더라. 그러나 우리쟈가 그것을 들었을 때 그가 무서워하였고 도망하였으며 이집트로 들어갔도다.
21 And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;
22 그러자 여호야킴왕이 이집트로 사람들을 보냈으니, 곧 악볼의 아들 엘나단과, 그와 함께한 몇 사람들이라.
22 And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt.
23 그런즉 그들이 우리쟈를 이집트에서 연행하여 그를 여호야킴왕에게 데려왔도다. 왕이 그를 칼로 살해하였고 그의 죽은 몸을 평민들의 무덤들 안에 던졌도다.”
23 And they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
24 그럼에도 불구하고 샤판의 아들 아히캄의 손이 예레미야와 함께하였으니, 그들이 예레미야를 백성의 손안에 내주어 그를 사형에 처하지 아니하도록 한 것이었더라.
24 Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
