1 오, 이스라엘아, 주가 말하노라. 만일 네가 다시 돌아오려거든 나에게로 다시 돌아오라. 그리하여 만일 네가 나의 목전에서 너의 가증한 것들을 치워 버린다면 그때는 네가 옮겨지지 아니하리라.
1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
2 그런즉 너는 진리와 공의와 의 안에서 맹세하기를, “주께서 살아 계시는도다.” 하리라. 그리고 민족들은 그 안에서 자신들을 축복하리니, 그들이 그를 자랑스러워하리라.
2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
3 ¶ 이는 주가 유다와 예루살렘 사람들에게 이같이 말하기 때문이라. 너희의 묵은 토양을 깨부수고 가시나무들 사이에 씨를 뿌리지 말라.
3 ¶ For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
4 너희, 유다 사람들과 예루살렘의 거주자들아, 주를 향하여 너희 자신들을 할례 하고 너희 마음의 포피들을 제거하라. 이는 너희가 행동하는 것들의 악으로 인하여 나의 노여움이 불처럼 나와서 태우지 않게 하려 함이니, 아무도 그것을 끌 수 없으리라.
4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5 너희는 유다에서 선언하고 예루살렘에서 공표하라. 그러면서 이같이 말하라. “너희는 그 지역에서 나팔을 불라. 소리치라. 한데 모으고 말하기를, ‘너희 스스로 집결하라. 그리하여 우리는 방어가 강화된 도시들 안으로 들어가자.’ 하라.
5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
6 시온을 향하여 깃발을 세워 올리라. 퇴각하라. 머물러 있지 말라. 이는 내가 북쪽으로부터 해악을 가져오리니, 엄청난 멸망을 가져오겠노라.
6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
7 사자가 그의 덤불에서 올라왔고, 이방인들을 멸망시키는 자가 그의 길 위에 있도다. 그는 너의 지역을 황량하게 만들려고 그의 처소에서 출발하였도다. 그런즉 너의 도시들이 거주자 한 명도 없이 황폐하게 되리라.
7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
8 이로 인하여 너희는 굵은 베로 띠를 두르고 애통해하며 울부짖으라. 이는 주의 맹렬한 분노가 우리로부터 돌이켜지지 아니하였기 때문이라.
8 For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
9 주가 말하노라. 그런즉 그날에 이러한 일이 있으리니, 왕의 마음이 허물어질 것이요, 통치자들의 마음도 그러하리라. 그리고 제사장들은 경악할 것이요, 예언자들은 기이하게 여기리라.”
9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
10 그때 내가 말씀드리기를, “아, 주 하나님이여! 과연 당신께서는 이 백성과 예루살렘을 단단히 속이시며 말씀하시기를, ‘너희에게 화평이 있으리라.’ 하셨나이다. 이와 반대로 칼이 혼까지 미쳤나이다.” 하였더라.
10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
11 그때에 이 백성과 예루살렘에 이러한 말씀이 있으리라. 광야 안에서 높은 곳들의 건조한 바람이 나의 백성의 딸에게 향하나니, 키질하는 것이 아니요, 정결하게 하는 것도 아니니라.
11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
12 심지어 그 장소들로부터 가득한 바람이 나에게 불어오리라. 이제 나 또한 그들을 대적하여 판결을 내리겠노라.
12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
13 보라, 그가 구름들같이 올라올 것이요, 그의 병거들은 회오리바람 같으리라. 그의 말들은 독수리들보다 빠르도다. 우리에게 화가 있으리로다! 이는 우리가 약탈을 당하기 때문이라.
13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
14 오, 예루살렘아, 너의 마음에서 사악함을 씻어 떨치라. 이는 네가 구원받게 하려 함이라. 얼마나 오랫동안 너의 헛된 생각들이 네 안에 깃들어 있겠느냐?
14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
15 이는 한 음성이 단에서부터 선언하고 에프라임산에서부터 고난을 공표하기 때문이라.
15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.
16 너희는 민족들에게 거론하라. 보라, 예루살렘을 대적하여 공표하여 파수꾼들이 먼 나라로부터 와서 유다의 도시들을 대적하여 그들의 목소리를 낸다 하라.
16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
17 그들이 밭을 지키는 자들같이 주위를 둘러싸서 그녀를 대적하는도다. 이는 그녀가 나를 대적하여 반역을 해 왔기 때문이라. 주가 말하노라.
17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
18 너의 길과 너의 행동거지들이 너에게 이 일들을 초래하였도다. 이것은 너의 사악함이니, 그것이 쓰기 때문이요, 그것이 너의 마음에 미치기 때문이라.
18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
19 ¶ 나의 내면아, 나의 내면아! 내가 나의 마음 바로 그곳에서 고통받는도다. 나의 마음이 내 안에서 요란한 소리를 내는도다. 오, 나의 혼아, 네가 나팔 소리, 곧 전쟁 경보를 들은 까닭에 내가 나의 침묵을 지킬 수 없도다.
19 ¶ My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20 멸망 위에 멸망이 외쳐지는도다. 이는 그 지역 전체가 약탈을 당하기 때문이라. 갑작스럽게 나의 천막들이 약탈을 당하나니, 한순간에 나의 가림막들이 약탈을 당하였도다.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.
21 얼마나 오랫동안 내가 깃발을 보고 나팔 소리를 듣겠는가?
21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22 나의 백성이 어리석기에 그들은 나를 몰랐도다. 그들은 멍청한 자녀들이요, 그들은 아무도 명철을 갖고 있지 않도다. 악을 행하는 데는 그들이 지혜로우나 선을 행하는 데는 그들이 지식이 없도다.
22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
23 내가 땅을 보았더니, 보라, 그것은 형체가 없었고 공허하였도다. 그리고 하늘들을 보았더니, 그것들에 빛이 전혀 없었더라.
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 내가 산들을 보았더니, 보라, 그것들이 떨었고 모든 언덕들이 가볍게 요동하였도다.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25 내가 보았더니, 보라, 사람이 전혀 없었고 하늘들의 모든 새들도 달아난 뒤였더라.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 내가 보았더니, 보라, 열매로 가득하던 곳이 광야가 되었고 그곳의 모든 도시들이 주의 면전에서 무너져 내렸으니, 그분의 맹렬한 분노로 인함이라.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
27 이는 주께서 이같이 말씀하셨기 때문이라. “온 지역이 황량해지리라. 그럼에도 내가 완전히 끝내지는 아니하리라.
27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
28 이로 인하여 땅이 애곡하고 위로는 하늘들이 검어지리라. 이는 내가 그것을 말하였고 내가 그것을 결심하였으니, 내가 돌이키지 아니할 것이요, 그것으로부터 물러나지도 아니할 것이기 때문이라.”
28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
29 도시 전체가 기병들과 궁병들의 소음으로 인하여 도망할 것이요, 그들이 덤불들 속으로 들어가고 바위들 위로 기어오를 것이요, 모든 도시마다 버려지고 그 안에 한 사람도 거하지 아니하리라.
29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
30 그런즉 너는 네가 약탈을 당할 때 무엇을 하겠느냐? 네가 진홍색으로 스스로를 옷 입힐지라도, 네가 금장식들로 꾸밀지라도, 네가 화장으로 너의 얼굴을 찢을지라도, 네가 너 자신을 어여쁘게 한 것이 헛되리라. 너의 애인들이 너를 멸시할 것이요, 그들이 너의 생명을 찾으리라.
30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
31 이는 내가 한 음성을 들었기 때문이니, 마치 산고를 치르는 여자에게서 나는 듯하였고, 자신의 첫아이를 출산하는 그녀에게서 나는 듯한 극심한 고통이었으니, 곧 시온의 딸의 음성이었으며, 그녀가 스스로 통곡하고 자신의 손들을 펴며 말하기를, “이제 나에게 화가 있도다! 이는 살인자들로 인하여 나의 혼이 지쳤기 때문이라.” 하는 것이라.
31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
